Tolino Vision 6 – e-book reader with new display

On the occasion of the Frankfurt Book Fair, Tolino presented its new e-reader Vision 6, which, among other things, can boast an e-ink display and should thus further improve the digital reading experience.

New technical basis and new screen

The e-reader from Tolino has been renewed from the ground up. Thus, not only a new screen technology is used, but also a new technical basis. At the heart of the device is an AllWinner B300 CPU, which offers a maximum clock speed of 1.8 GHz with four cores. This basis is supposed to result in faster content build-up; furthermore, it is supposed to shorten the response time. In addition, there is a doubled internal storage of now 16 GB as well as a USB-C port for the first time.

In addition to the CPU, the screen has also been fundamentally revised. Tolino now relies on the Carta 1200 technology from E-Ink. The new screen technology is supposed to reduce the response time by another twenty percent and improve the contrast significantly. This in turn is supposed to make the writing more recognizable and thus make reading easier. All in all, Tolino is thus consistently treading the path towards comfortable digital reading.

Old functions remain

Proven old functions and aspects of the device remain intact. For example, Tolino continues to rely on a device that measures seven inches diagonally and has a resolution of 1,264 x 1,680 pixels. The smartLight feature, IPX8 water protection, and magnification feature for people with vision problems will also remain. Ultimately, the Vision 6 thus becomes a device that combines the advantages of its predecessors with new technical developments. However, it still has to do without a color display, which some competing products offer.

Price and availability

The Vision 6 will be available from all Tolino partner companies starting in the fall. Pre-orders can already be placed today. The price is 169 euros.
