TP-Link Archer BE670: WiFi 7 router with 10 Gbit port and mesh support in detail

With the Archer BE670, TP-Link is expanding its portfolio with a powerful WiFi 7 router that is clearly aimed at modern households with high network requirements. The new standard promises higher data rates, lower latency and better utilization of many simultaneously connected devices. The TP-Link Archer BE670 combines these technical advantages with fast Ethernet ports and mesh support, positioning itself as a future-proof solution for demanding home networks.

  • WiFi 7 with 6 GHz support and very high data rates
  • 10 Gbit/s and 2.5 Gbit/s Ethernet ports for fast wired connections
  • EasyMesh support for extending the WLAN coverage
  • Separate network for IoT devices

TP-Link Archer BE670 as a new generation WiFi 7 router

The TP-Link Archer BE670 consistently relies on the new WiFi 7 standard and makes extensive use of its technical possibilities. In addition to the 2.4 GHz band, which achieves a maximum data rate of up to 688 MBit/s, both the 5 GHz and 6 GHz bands are available with up to 5,765 MBit/s each. These high values result from the use of wider channels, modern modulation methods and intelligent band allocation.

In practice, this means that compatible end devices can be specifically allocated to the optimum frequency band. MU-MIMO and OFDMA ensure that a stable and low latency is maintained even with many simultaneous connections. TP-Link states that the Archer BE670 is designed for single-family homes with around three bedrooms. Six external antennas should ensure even coverage and enable stable connections even in more distant rooms.

Of particular interest is the support of EasyMesh. This allows the router to be easily integrated into a mesh network or used as a control center for additional access points. Especially in larger apartments or houses, this flexibility offers significant added value compared to classic individual routers.

Connections, features and known limitations

The TP-Link Archer BE670 is also unusually powerful when it comes to wired connections. A total of five Ethernet ports are available, including a 10 Gbit/s and a 2.5 Gbit/s port. Both can be used flexibly as a WAN or LAN connection. In practice, the 10 Gbit port is particularly suitable for high-performance NAS systems or workstations in order to achieve high internal data rates in the home network. The equipment is supplemented by three classic Gigabit ports.

However, TP-Link has completely dispensed with a USB port. This eliminates the possibility of using external data carriers directly on the router as a simple network share. This decision seems somewhat surprising in view of the otherwise very powerful hardware, but should be less relevant for users with a separate NAS or cloud solutions.

The support of a separate IoT network is a positive feature. Smart devices can thus be separated from the main network, which increases both the security and stability of the rest of the network.

Conclusion

The TP-Link Archer BE670 presents itself as a powerful WiFi 7 router with a clear focus on high data rates and modern network requirements. The fast Ethernet ports and mesh support in particular make it attractive for demanding setups. The model is currently available for around 258 euros plus around 70 euros shipping from the USA. However, due to regulatory differences and possible firmware restrictions, an import should be viewed with caution. An official market launch in Europe is likely to be the better option for many interested parties.
