With the new TUXEDO BM15, TUXEDO Computers is expanding its portfolio with a business notebook that is specifically designed for security, mobility and ease of maintenance. The device combines modern office hardware with Linux support, smartcard authentication and optional 4G LTE. Of particular interest is the focus on repairability and modular components – an area that is increasingly being neglected in many current notebooks. This positions the BM15 as a versatile solution for companies, public authorities and demanding private users.

  • Smartcard reader and optional fingerprint sensor for secure authentication
  • Replaceable battery and modular design for easy repairs and upgrades
  • Intel Core 5 120U with up to 64 GB DDR5 RAM for office and multimedia
  • Wi-Fi 7, Thunderbolt 4 and optional 4G LTE for flexible connectivity

TUXEDO BM15 combines Linux support with business security

The TUXEDO BM15 is clearly aimed at professional users who attach particular importance to security and long-term usability. At the heart of the security concept is the integrated smart card reader in accordance with the ISO/IEC 7816 standard. Among other things, it supports PIV, OpenPGP and PKI/FIDO cards and is therefore suitable for secure network access, digital signatures or encrypted authentication processes in companies and public authorities.

The notebook also offers an optional fingerprint sensor for biometric login under Windows. Under Linux, on the other hand, the focus is primarily on complete software integration. As with all of the manufacturer’s devices, the BM15 is delivered with full Linux support. You can choose between TUXEDO OS or Ubuntu 24.04, including customized drivers and in-house software solutions. Full drive encryption is also available as an option.

In everyday use, the broad connectivity should be particularly impressive. In addition to classic Gigabit LAN, the device already supports the current Wi-Fi 7 standard. An optional LTE module can also be integrated so that mobile working remains possible even without a Wi-Fi hotspot. The BM15 therefore offers flexible features that go beyond classic office notebooks, especially for field service, home offices or hybrid workstations.

Repairable Linux notebook with a bright display and efficient hardware

A key feature of the TUXEDO BM15 is its ease of maintenance. While many modern notebooks use soldered components and housings that are difficult to access, TUXEDO deliberately relies on modular components. The RAM, SSD, WLAN module and LTE unit can be upgraded or replaced. Even the keyboard has a modular design and the battery can be replaced from the outside.

The company is thus actively embracing the idea of the “right to repair”. According to the manufacturer, maintenance and repair work remains covered by the warranty if carried out correctly. This is a clear advantage over many competitor models for users who want to use devices over the long term or upgrade them at a later date.

Inside is an Intel Core 5 120U with two performance cores and eight efficiency cores. The focus is less on maximum computing power and more on energy-efficient operation for office applications, multitasking and light multimedia work. Three different performance modes allow adjustment between quiet operation and higher performance.

The overall package is rounded off by a 15.6-inch display with 400 nits brightness and over 90 percent sRGB coverage. This makes the notebook suitable not only for classic office work, but also for image editing, streaming or presentations in brighter environments.

Conclusion

The TUXEDO BM15 clearly focuses on Linux compatibility, security and repairability. The modular design, replaceable battery and integrated smartcard reader in particular set the notebook apart from many current business devices. Modern standards such as Wi-Fi 7, Thunderbolt 4 and optional LTE also make the device future-proof. Pre-orders are already possible and delivery will start at the end of May 2026. The basic configuration starts at 1,149 euros including pre-installed TUXEDO OS.
