With the Gemini 17 Gen4 – INTEL, TUXEDO is launching a classic desktop replacement that deliberately goes against the trend towards ever slimmer notebooks and instead focuses on maximum performance, large cooling reserves and extensive connectivity. The 17.3-inch model combines an Intel Core i9-14900HX with NVIDIA’s new GeForce RTX 5070 Ti, a 240 Hz QHD panel and up to 96 GB DDR5 RAM and is therefore clearly aimed at workstation and high-end gaming scenarios. At the same time, the price remains comparatively aggressive for this performance class, especially in the base configuration, and is flanked by full Linux support including TUXEDO OS and optional Windows setup.
- 17.3-inch QHD display with 2560 x 1440 pixels, 240 Hz and 100% DCI-P3 for gaming and content creation.
- Intel Core i9-14900HX (24 cores, up to 5.8 GHz, up to 115 W) plus NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 Ti with 12 GB GDDR7 and up to 140 W TGP.
- Up to 96 GB DDR5-5600 RAM, two M.2 NVMe SSDs with up to 8 TB and extensive connectivity including 2x DisplayPort 2.1 and HDMI 2.1.
- Full Linux support with TUXEDO OS or Ubuntu 24.04, optional Windows 11; basic configuration from 2,149 euros (incl. VAT in Germany).
Classic desktop replacement with a focus on performance
Instead of an ultra-thin design, the Gemini 17 relies on a classic, almost 2.9 cm high workstation chassis weighing around 2.8 kg, which is primarily designed as a desktop replacement with a transportable option. This enables a generously dimensioned cooling system that provides the Intel Core i9-14900HX with up to 115 watts continuously, thus ensuring high multi-core performance even under prolonged full load. The CPU has 24 cores (8 performance and 16 efficiency cores) and 32 threads via Hyper-Threading and achieves single-core clock rates of up to 5.8 GHz, making the system equally suitable for current games, renderings and CPU-heavy workloads.

For the graphics part, TUXEDO uses the mobile GeForce RTX 5070 Ti, which is operated with up to 140 watts TGP depending on the profile and is designed for demanding 3D applications, high graphics details and memory-hungry projects with 12 GB GDDR7 VRAM. In conjunction with DLSS 4, the notebook is clearly aimed at high frame rates in QHD resolution without slipping into the price and consumption region of classic enthusiast solutions. The design remains deliberately functional and workstation-compatible, including a 4-column numeric keypad and illuminated membrane keyboard, which is just as suitable for productive work scenarios as it is for longer gaming sessions.
Display, features and connectivity
The centerpiece of the front is a 17.3-inch IPS panel with 2560 x 1440 pixels and a refresh rate of 240 Hz, which combines the short response time important for fast games with a practical resolution. Full coverage of the DCI-P3 color space, which is around 25 percent larger than the usual sRGB range, also makes the device ideal for color-critical work such as photo editing, color grading or graphic design. Thanks to the combination of QHD and 240 Hz, the panel is aimed at both competitive gaming and creator workflows, where response speed and color space play an equally important role.
Up to 96 GB DDR5-5600 RAM can be installed under the hood, while two M.2 NVMe slots enable configurations with a total of up to 8 TB of SSD storage. The connectivity is generous in line with the desktop replacement orientation: Two DisplayPort 2.1 outputs via USB-C and an HDMI 2.1 port allow the operation of up to three external high-resolution monitors in addition to the internal display, enabling a total of four screens. This is complemented by four USB ports including USB-C with up to 100 watts of charging power, an RJ45 LAN port and a combined 2-in-1 audio socket, which allows both stationary multi-monitor setups and mobile capture or streaming workflows to be implemented.

Linux-first, but Windows-ready – prices and availability
As usual from TUXEDO, the Gemini 17 Gen4 comes with full Linux support, including pre-installed TUXEDO OS or Ubuntu 24.04, customized drivers and in-house tools for power, fan and profile management. Windows 11 is available as an option, making the device ideal as a dual-boot platform for mixed workflows of gaming, development, rendering and business applications. Full hard disk encryption can be activated directly ex works, which is a particularly relevant plus point for professional users.
The basic configuration includes the Intel Core i9-14900HX, the GeForce RTX 5070 Ti, 16 GB DDR5 RAM, a 1 TB NVMe SSD (Western Digital Black) and TUXEDO OS as the operating system. In Germany, the system starts at €2,149 including 19% VAT, while the entry-level price for customers outside Germany is listed at €1,805 before tax. The TUXEDO Gemini 17 Gen4 is now available for pre-order and, according to the manufacturer, delivery should begin towards the end of December, making it the new Linux flagship in the desktop replacement segment just in time for the new year.
