Twitter: Tesla employees to help Musk with layoffs

Apparently, Elon Musk wants to turn Twitter around with the support of Tesla employees. A total of 50 employees of the e-car manufacturer are to help coordinate the layoffs. Among the staff of the short message service, this is of course anything but well received.

Tesla employees coordinate layoffs

Ever since Elon Musk took over Twitter, internal company events have been tumbling. Thus, the tech billionaire has now fired the entire management team as well as the board of directors of the short message service. But that’s not all. Days before the takeover of the social network, Musk announced that he wanted to lay off 75 percent of the workforce. He now seems to want to put this plan into action. In order to be able to make the decision about leaving or remaining in the company, he is getting active support from Tesla as CNBC now reports.

The more than 50 employees of the e-car maker are said to be programmers in particular. They should be able to best assess which employees are still needed at all at the short news service in the area of programming. In order to be able to find out, they will probably start by looking through Twitter’s codes in the next few days. Thus, the restructuring under the leadership of Elon Musk is in full swing. After all, the dazzling tech billionaire apparently doesn’t just want to save on personnel costs. On top of that, the price for Twitter Blue is to increase significantly in the future.

Frustration and fear at Twitter

Of course, the approach is anything but well received by the workforce. After all, the employees now not only all fear for their jobs. On top of that, according to the report from CNBC, questionable conditions now prevail internally. Employees state that they now have to disclose extensive documentation of their daily work. This is then likely to be used as a basis when it comes to the question of retention or termination. On top of that, people at Twitter are now given tasks that involve immense time pressure. The revision of Twitter Blue, for example, is to be completed by November 7. Night work is probably inevitable in the process.

Questionable monitoring methods at Twitter

You really have to wonder how Elon Musk plans to straighten out the relationship between himself and his employees. In addition to all the questionable steps he has taken since taking over, there are also hints of employee surveillance. For example, communication channels used by the Twitter staff are said to have been investigated. This can at least be concluded from the fact that the Tesla boss published a message incoherently, which is supposed to confirm his accusations of the last months. Among other things, Musk accused Twitter of not taking action against fake accounts. According to CNBC, Twitter employees are now hardly using their company channel on Slack for fear of further surveillance.
