Undercover gaming with the new XMG CORE laptops

The new XMG Core laptops will come in an undercover gaming approach in 15 and 17 inches, with either AMD or Intel processors. Performance is provided by GeForce RTX 3060 and eight-core processors in the new XMG Core.

XMG CORE 15 and CORE 17 Intel

The sleek design hides a powerful gaming laptop in the new XMG CORE. When it comes to processors, one is left with a choice between Intel or AMD Ryzen. The XMG CORE Intel features a Core i7-10870H from the tenth Core generation, which now works with eight Hyperthreading-enabled CPU cores. The Intel processor’s base clock is 2.2 GHz and reaches up to 5 GHz in Turbo Boot. The processor provides plenty of computing power, which isn’t immediately obvious on the XMG CORE Intel due to its elegant design. For a further plus in performance, the latest NVIDIA GeForce graphics cards have been used in the new XMG CORE laptops. Due to the unrestricted Max-P full expansion, high FPS values are achieved with the RTX 3060. The latest AAA game titles can also be rendered with the RTX technology. For this, the XMG CORE offers ray tracing and DLSS 2.0. The XMG CORE Intel is freely accessible and also allows swapping the memory components afterwards. There are two M.2 SSD slots with a PCI Express connection and two SO-DIMM slots. A maximum of 64 GB DDR4 RAM and 16 TB NVMe SSD are possible.

XMG offers two variants for the displays. For a strong gaming experience, there is an IPS display with 144 Hz and 1,920 x 1,080 pixels in Full HD. With the IPS technology, the black levels are optimally displayed to keep a good overview even in dark gaming scenarios. The IPS panel covers 90% of the sRGB color space. The WQHD display with 165 Hz offers a higher resolution. The pixel density here is 2,560 x 1,440 and is in the high-end range with fast response times, maximum immersion and smooth content reproduction. The WQHD display achieves an sRGB color space coverage of 95 percent and offers excellent colors, with an exceptional contrast.

The XMG CORE 15 Intel comes in at a total weight of 1.99 kg, which means it won’t be a chunk on your leg when you’re on the go. The XMG CORE 17 Intel isn’t a heavyweight either, it comes to about 2.5 kg. Realtek 2.5 Gbit LAN, WLAN 802.11 and Bluetooth 5 ensure smooth communication in both variants. The HD webcam has been installed on the display’s upper side to achieve an advantageous viewing angle. The 62 Wh lithium polymer battery of the XMG CORE is screwed internally and can be replaced. The features with ports are quite good for a laptop, so the new XMG CORE laptops have a USB-C 3.2 Gen2 port, a USB-A 3.2 Gen2, two USB-A 3.2 Gen1, a headphone jack, a microphone input, an HDMI 2.1, an RJ45 port for 2.5 Gbit LAN, a power adapter port as well as a card reader for SD, SDHC or SDXC. The dimensions of the 15-incher are 359.8 x 243 x 22.9 mm (W x D x H) whereas the 17-incher comes in at 395.7 x 260.8 x 30.05 mm (W x D x H).

XMG CORE 15 and 17 AMD

The AMD version of the XMG CORE 15 and 17 differs mainly in the processor and the display. The new AMD Ryzen 7 4800H is installed here, which is one of the top models. The AMD processor offers eight CPU cores and 16 threads with a base clock of 2.9 GHz and a boot clock of up to 4.2 GHz. Thus, nothing stands in the way of demanding multimedia applications. You can choose between an IPS display with 240 Hz and a WQHD display with 165 Hz in the AMD version. The IPS display achieves a refresh rate of 240 Hz and resolves in Full HD (1,920 x 1,080 pixels). It achieves an sRGB color space coverage of 90%. In contrast, WQHD display, like the Intel model, comes with 2,560 x 1,440 pixels and a 95 percent color space coverage. The other key specs of the XMG CORE laptops remain the same.

Availability and prices

Available from the end of March 2021, all models presented will be available at a price of 1,449.00 euros for the XMG CORE Intel 15 and 17 and 1,399.00 euros for the XMG CORE AMD 15 and 17.
