Urbanista Phoenix TWS to offer infinite battery life thanks to solar energy

After last year’s over-ear model, you can now expect solar-powered in-ear headphones in the form of the Urbanista Phoenix TWS, which are said to offer nearly endless battery life, at least in direct sunlight.

The Urbanista Phoenix TWS in detail

The new Urbanista Phoenix TWS rely on Powerfoyle solar technology to recharge in direct sunlight. However, the solar cells do not sit directly in the earbuds, but are found on the front of the charging case.

The Earbuds themselves are supposed to last for eight hours, while the charging case increases the total battery life to 32 hours. According to the manufacturer, the Phoenix TWS should also be able to be recharged indoors via solar power, but at a slower pace than outdoors.

Solar-powered gadgets are not as new as it may seem now. JBL had already presented the Reflect Eternal solar headphones in 2019, which, however, never appeared. Garmin offers a similar technology in the recently introduced Smartwatch Enduro 2, as well as in the Fenix 7 Sapphire Solar, which we could already test ourselves.

More technical details

Otherwise, the Urbanista Phoenix TWS offer hybrid active noise cancellation (ANC), as well as a transparency mode. Wirelessly, the Earbuds radio via Bluetooth 5.2 and also support the connection with two devices simultaneously thanks to Multipoint.

Thanks to IPX4 certification, the TWS in-ears should also be protected from sweat and light rain, while operation is done using the touch-sensitive outer sides or via voice assistant. Both the charging level and the sound can be personalized via the companion app.

The Phoenix will be offered in Midnight Black (black) and Desert Rose (sandy) colors, but the manufacturer has yet to provide concrete details on the installed drivers, audio codecs and more.

Prices and availability

The Urbanista Phoenix TWS are expected to find their way into stores before the end of the fourth quarter of 2022. The MSRP of $149 is likely to be converted one-to-one into the Euro price. You can sign up for the newsletter via the official website to find out when you can order the Earbuds.
