Robust construction meets well thought-out equipment
When it comes to powerful and stylish e-bikes with a featherweight carbon frame, Urtopia is a popular contender. With the Urtopia Carbon One (Review | € 2,699.00 *), for example, the manufacturer has a stylish and sporty city runabout on offer. Now the Carbon Joy is the next electrifying lightweight carbon-based two-wheeler to be launched.
The equipment may not be quite as exclusive as the Carbon One, but the specifications still sound promising. The Carbon Joy has a low step-through carbon frame, which not only ensures a low overall weight of around 22.6 kilograms, but also increases comfort when getting on and off the bike. The 20-inch, 3-inch wide Kenda tires in combination with the suspension fork offer a pleasant ride even on uneven paths.
A special feature is the reinforced luggage rack, which allows you to carry larger items of shopping or even children. This puts the Urtopia Carbon Joy in a similar category to a Fiido T2 (Review | € 1,499.00 *). Hydraulic disc brakes ensure safe stopping, while simultaneously switching off the motor to ensure additional safety.
Powerful drive and flexible use
The e-bike is powered by a rear wheel hub motor with a continuous output of 500 watts and a peak output of 750 watts. A torque sensor enables sensitive control of the motor assistance, which is particularly advantageous in changing riding conditions.
The removable battery with a capacity of 529.2 Wh provides sufficient energy for longer rides and can be conveniently charged at home or in the office. The 8-speed derailleur gears from Shimano enable individual adaptation to different terrains and riding styles.
Conclusion
The Urtopia Carbon Joy impresses with a successful combination of lightweight construction, high load capacity and well thought-out features. With its powerful drive and the ability to transport larger loads, it is suitable for both daily commuting and longer excursions. The e-bike is currently available for around 2,000 US dollars, although information on an official sales launch in Germany is still pending.
