Verbatim launches gaming brand SureFire with SSDs and HDDs

Gamers are becoming an important target group for more and more “traditional” manufacturers. In addition to the illuminated Biostar P500 SSD and the external Adata SE770G SSD with RGB lighting, Verbatim has therefore also decided to launch illuminated HDDs and SSDs for gamers. The products will be marketed under the new brand name SureFire. Later the product portfolio will be extended to include headsets and mice. By the end of the year, “more than 20 additional products” are to be launched on the market.

According to Verbatim GmbH, SureFire should appeal to both console and PC gamers. In addition to the colorful LED lighting, the products should convince with their easy handling and high quality at a good value for money.

The leeks of the new brand are the SureFire GX3 Gaming SSD and the classic SureFire GX3 Gaming Hard Drive. Both have identical dimensions of 125 × 80 × 17.5 mm (L×W×H) and are connected via USB 3.2 Gen 1 (5 Gbit/s). A speed of 450 MB/s is thus realistic. But SureFire does not provide any information on this.

The SureFire GX3 Gaming SSD is offered with 512 GB and 1 TB. Both versions are pleasantly light with 104 grams. The SureFire GX3 Gaming Hard Drive, available with 1 and 2 TB, weighs 180 grams thanks to the magnetic disks. Both drives come with Nero Backup, formatting software, a USB-A connection cable and a USB-C adapter.

The prices are in the middle range. An exact release date is still unknown. SureFire only speaks of “timely”.
