ViewSonic is expanding its gaming portfolio with the VX27G26-2K-4, a new 27-inch monitor clearly designed for fast-paced eSports titles and competitive gaming. With a maximum refresh rate of 425 Hz and QHD resolution, the model is aimed at gamers who want to save every millisecond of latency and display movements as smoothly as possible. ViewSonic dispenses with high-end HDR or particularly high contrast in favor of a fast IPS panel and features that are clearly focused on performance.
- 27-inch IPS panel with QHD resolution (2,560 x 1,440 pixels) and up to 425 Hz.
- 1 ms gray-to-grey response time, Adaptive Sync with FreeSync and G-Sync support.
- 450 cd/m² brightness, 1,000:1 contrast, 100% sRGB and 97% DCI-P3 coverage.
- Two HDMI 2.1 and two DisplayPort 1.4 ports, PiP/PbP, gaming features such as crosshair overlay.
Focus on maximum speed
The ViewSonic VX27G26-2K-4 is clearly aimed at ambitious gamers and eSports enthusiasts who prefer fast-paced shooters or competitive multiplayer titles. At its heart is a 27-inch “UltraFast” IPS panel with a native refresh rate of 400 Hz, which can be increased to up to 425 Hz via overclocking. In combination with the QHD resolution of 2,560 x 1,440 pixels, this results in a sharp image impression with comparatively moderate demands on the graphics card – an important factor for achieving frame rates above 300 FPS.

The grey-to-grey response time of 1 ms specified by the manufacturer is intended to reduce smearing and ghosting to a minimum, which is particularly noticeable during fast mouse movements and hectic gaming situations. Thanks to Adaptive Sync, both AMD FreeSync and G-Sync-compatible setups are supported, which reduces tearing and enables a smoother picture overall. For long gaming sessions, ViewSonic also integrates Low Blue Light and Flicker Free technologies to reduce eye strain.
Image quality and features with compromises
As with many extremely fast IPS gaming monitors, the focus is less on HDR reference values and more on a balanced mix of color space coverage and speed. The panel achieves a typical brightness of 450 cd/m² and a contrast ratio of 1,000:1, which is absolutely sufficient for SDR gaming, but in comparison to OLED or mini-LED displays, no outstanding display of extremely high-contrast movie scenes can be expected. ViewSonic specifies 100% sRGB and around 97% DCI-P3 for the color reproduction, implemented via an 8-bit panel with FRC, which also makes the monitor suitable for occasional image and video editing.
The range of connections is functional, but not overly lavish: Two HDMI 2.1 ports and two DisplayPort 1.4 inputs cover current PCs and consoles, but a USB hub is not integrated. Nevertheless, the monitor supports Picture-in-Picture (PiP) and Picture-by-Picture (PbP), meaning that two signal sources can be displayed in parallel – for example a PC and console at the same time. In addition, gaming features such as a fade-in crosshair, customizable picture modes and functions for selectively brightening dark areas of the picture are available to make opponents in the shadows more visible.
Conclusion: High-speed QHD without HDR focus
The ViewSonic VX27G26-2K-4 is positioned as a specialized eSports monitor for users who value maximum refresh rates and fast response times over HDR brilliance and deep blacks. With 425 Hz, QHD resolution, 1 ms response time and solid color space coverage, the model is particularly interesting for shooters and competitive gamers who already have a correspondingly powerful graphics card. Price and availability have not yet been officially communicated, the monitor is currently mainly listed on the Chinese market; further details on a possible European launch are still pending.
