VinFast launches recall due to faulty sensor technology

VinFast is considered one of the biggest newcomers in the field of electric mobility. However, the car manufacturer based in Vietnam has now had to initiate an annoying recall campaign. The accident sensor of some models is said to be causing problems. Before it comes to complaints or even accidents, the manufacturer now wants to react.

Recall action applies exclusively to Vietnam

When VinFast unveiled some exciting electric cars at this year’s CES, the buzz was huge. So it’s hardly surprising that the Vietnamese brand would soon like to sell its cars outside the Southeast Asian market. In June, it was announced that the manufacturer would even offer its promising vehicles in Germany. After all the positive headlines, now comes an annoying incident. As part of a recall campaign, the company has recalled a total of 730 VF E34 vehicles. The manufacturer cites faulty sensors in the airbag area as the cause. Since the model is only sold in Vietnam, the recall also only applies in the manufacturer’s home country. The news portal Reuters states that the company has sold 2,208 VF E34 vehicles in Vietnam so far. Consequently, the problem affects about one-third of the vehicles.

VinFast expands globally

In the otherwise flawless success story of the young company, however, the recall is only a minor setback. After all, even major manufacturers are not immune to recalling their vehicles to the workshop once again. As recently as May 2022, for example, Tesla launched a recall action due to a display defect. For this reason, VinFast’s course for success should certainly not be tarnished by this. At least the plans to soon produce vehicles in Germany have not changed so far. The focus is not only on the European market. VinFast is also planning to successfully build electric cars in the USA. To this end, the company has forged a plan to build a factory in North Carolina at a cost of $4 billion.
