Vivo iQOO Neo6 unveiled: Mid-range smartphone with Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 and 120 Hz

Is this still the smartphone mid-range? With the Vivo iQOO Neo6, the manufacturer in China has introduced a new Android device that can compete with current flagships in some areas. The equipment includes the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chip from Qualcomm and a 120 Hz fast AMOLED display.

Vivo iQOO Neo6 in detail

With the Vivo iQOO Neo6 Android device unveiled yesterday in China, the manufacturer is increasingly blurring the lines between smartphone mid-range and the high-end segment, because the equipment is more than impressive.

The Neo6 features a 6.62-inch AMOLED panel with a Full HD+ resolution and a fast refresh rate of 120 hertz. Even the touch sampling rate of 1200 Hz is more than impressive. On the other hand, the maximum brightness is lower because Vivo uses an older E4 panel from Samsung instead of the new and brighter E5 OLED.

However, the rest of the Vivo iQOO Neo6’s features also turn out to be remarkable. Inside, the current flagship chip from Qualcomm, namely the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, does its job. It is supported by 8 or 12 GB of working memory and 128 GB or 256 GB of system memory.

Large battery, strong cameras

The smartphone also offers a 4,700 mAh battery, which can only be charged via USB Type-C. The battery is not rechargeable. However, it does so with a remarkable speed of up to 80 watts, which means the 197-gram smartphone can be charged from 20 to 80 percent in less than 20 minutes.

On the back, the Vivo iQOO Neo6 relies on a triple camera setup that consists of a 64-megapixel main camera with optical image stabilization, a 12-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens and a 2 MP depth sensor. At the front, there is a selfie camera in a punch hole that resolves with 16 megapixels. However, the manufacturer has not yet revealed further details about the cameras’ specifications.

Prices and availability

The Vivo iQOO Neo6 comes in three bright colors (light blue, dark blue and orange) and is offered in two configurations. The variant with 8 GB of working memory and 128 GB of system memory will cost 2,799 yuan (around 403 euros), while the top model with 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of ROM will cost 3,299 yuan (just under 475 euros).

The delivery in China is scheduled for April 20, 2022. If and when the Neo6 will also make it to Europe is unfortunately still completely unclear at the moment. Unfortunately, this also applies to the high-quality and innovative Vivo X Fold, which the manufacturer also recently announced.
