The vivo X Fold6 has been officially available in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland since October 1, 2026. The manufacturer is pricing it at 2,199 euros and has equipped the foldable with a 200-MP ZEISS main camera, an APO-certified telephoto camera, and—a first in the industry—an optionally available ZEISS teleconverter. It also features a 6,900-mAh battery and a body that measures just 4.4 mm when unfolded.
The idea that a foldable phone should have a large camera, a powerful battery, and still feature a slim body sounds, at first, like the usual marketing wish list. But this time, vivo actually has a bit more to offer than most of its competitors, and that’s exactly what we’ll be taking a closer look at.

Price and availability in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland
vivo had already announced the European launch of the X Fold6 and X500 series back in September , though without a specific price at the time. The price is now available: 2,199 euros, for the sole configuration featuring 12 GB of RAM and 512 GB of internal storage. The device will initially be sold exclusively through the official vivo online store, in Prism Black and Horizon Blue.
Those who buy it in October will get a few extras on top: a one-year warranty extension in addition to the standard two years, a five-year battery warranty, one year of screen protection, three months of Google AI Pro including 5 TB of cloud storage, and, to top it all off, a free vivo WATCH GT 2. By comparison, Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold8 is noticeably more expensive in Germany, making the X Fold6 one of the more affordable options in the foldable flagship segment.
ZEISS camera system with teleconverter: The heart of the X Fold6
The camera is what vivo has long used to promote its X models, and with the X Fold6, the manufacturer is taking it a step further. The 200-MP main camera uses a large Samsung HPB sensor, which vivo developed in collaboration with Samsung, featuring a ZEISS T* coating and optical image stabilization. It’s complemented by a ZEISS APO-certified telephoto camera with a periscope design, a 70 mm focal length, macro capability, and up to 100x ZEISS HyperZoom. A 50-MP ultra-wide-angle camera rounds out the setup.
New and, so far, unique to a foldable: the vivo ZEISS Telephoto Extender Gen 2, the same telephoto converter that vivo previously demonstrated in our review of the X300 Pro. When attached, it extends the equivalent focal length to 200 mm, which is ideal for concerts, sports, or simply subjects that are very far away. At 96 mm long and weighing 153 grams, the accessory isn’t exactly lightweight, but it’s also not a bulky item you’d have to carry around separately when you’re already reaching for your camera bag.
For moving subjects, there’s Motion Portrait 2.0, which is designed to capture children and pets in sharp focus more reliably, and for low-light conditions, there’s Night Flash Portrait with Multi-Focal Zoom Flash. The new Stage Mode should be particularly interesting for anyone who enjoys photographing concerts or performances: It combines the zoom lenses with algorithms that, according to vivo, are designed to deliver clearer telephoto portraits from the stage, plus 4K60 video recording in Dolby Vision.
6,900-mAh battery in a 4.4-mm-thin foldable
For a long time, it was considered an unwritten rule that a flip phone had to have either a large battery or a slim body. vivo is attempting to circumvent this with a fifth-generation version of its silicon anode technology, combined with a third-generation semi-solid-state battery that, according to the manufacturer, is designed to reliably deliver power even in cold temperatures down to minus 20 degrees. The result: 6,900 mAh in a 4.4-mm-thick Prism Black model (228 grams) or a 4.8-mm-thick Horizon Blue model (235 grams).
Charging is possible at up to 80 watts via cable or 40 watts wirelessly; the device also supports wireless reverse charging in case you ever want to charge your own headphones or a smartwatch. android-user.de also confirms that the device will indeed be available in stores on October 1.
Display, Water Resistance, and Everyday Usability
Inside, vivo has installed an 8.02-inch display featuring Samsung’s M14 emissive material; on the outside, there’s a 6.51-inch cover display with BOE’s Q11 material. Both feature adaptive refresh rates from 1 to 120 Hz, peak brightness of up to 5,000 nits, and a minimum brightness of just 1 nit for comfortable reading in the dark. Unusual for a foldable but welcome: IPX8 and IPX9 water resistance as well as IP5X dust resistance, which promises the device greater everyday practicality than is typical for foldable phones, which have rarely carried such certifications until now.
OriginOS 7 Fold: Multitasking on the Large Display
On the software side, vivo relies on OriginOS 7 Fold, powered by the new Dimensity 9500 Super Edition, which vivo developed specifically for this device in collaboration with MediaTek. With Multi-Split Screen, up to four apps can be used simultaneously in a customizable layout, and AI Cross-App Drag is designed to make it easier to move content between apps via drag-and-drop. If you connect the X Fold6 to a compatible monitor, Desktop Mode provides a sort of virtual workspace, including the vivo Office Kit for cross-device collaboration.

Conclusion: Is the vivo X Fold6 worth the price?
At 2,199 euros, the vivo X Fold6 isn’t a bargain, but it’s cheaper than what Samsung is charging for the Galaxy Z Fold8, and it comes with a camera system that no other foldable currently offers. The telephoto lens is more than just a gimmick: Anyone who regularly photographs concerts, sports, or distant subjects will gain a range of focus that would otherwise require a DSLR. Combined with the large battery and its durability ratings, the X Fold6 feels less like a niche product for tech enthusiasts and more like a serious everyday companion—even if the battle with Samsung’s Z Fold series is far from over. Only a detailed test will reveal whether the camera lives up to vivo’s promises in real-world use.
