vivo X300 comes with 200 MP ZEISS optics and Dimensity 9500

To mark the company’s 30th anniversary, vivo has announced a major milestone with the launch of the new X300 series in Shanghai. The two models, vivo X300 Pro and vivo X300, are set to mark the beginning of a new era of mobile photography – with impressive technology, sophisticated software and elegant design. We are on site in Shanghai to take a closer look at the manufacturer’s latest models.

200 megapixel telephoto lens and ZEISS collaboration

The heart of the new flagship vivo X300 Pro is an 85 mm 200 megapixel ZEISS APO telephoto camera, developed in cooperation with Samsung and MediaTek. The large HPBlue sensor (1/1.4 inch) works with an f/2.67 aperture, ZEISS T* coating and meets the strict ZEISS APO certification for color purity and sharpness. CIPA 5.5 stabilization ensures razor-sharp images even at high magnification – for example in sports or concert photography.

The vivo X300 Pro will also be available with a matching camera handle

The system is supported by the new Dimensity 9500 chip, which enables millisecond autofocus tracking with vivo’s own X-Track engine. The result: up to 200% more stable telephoto shots and significantly more precise subject tracking than previous models. The main camera of the X300 Pro also relies on high-end technology.

The Sony LYT-828 sensor (1/1.28 inch, f/1.57) is supported by vivo’s Camera-Bionic Spectrum 3.0 (VCS) and offers “gimbal-grade” stabilization with an extended movement angle of ±1.5°. This should also enable professional night shots and 4K videos without external stabilization. Video fans can look forward to 4K portrait videos with 60 fps, Dolby Vision HDR and even 120 fps slow motion. For professionals, vivo also offers 10-bit log recording and the ACES color workflow known from film production.

The more compact X300 with the same 200 MP power

The standard vivo X300 model uses the same 200 megapixel HPBlue sensor – this time as the main camera with f/1.68 aperture and CIPA 4.5 stabilization. The telephoto lens uses a Sony LYT-602 sensor with ZEISS APO certification, which also ensures authentic colors and high sharpness. A highlight is the new AI One-Shot Multi-Crop function, which allows a single high-resolution photo to be converted into multiple portraits – practical for creative travel photography. In addition, the AI Customized Beauty function analyses the user’s style and automatically applies it to multiple images.

Vivo’s design of the X300 series is based on the philosophy “Naturally powerful, naturally beautiful”. The X300 Pro is only 7.99 mm thin and comes with a 6.78-inch display and a back made of cold-milled glass in colors such as Dune Brown, Mist Blue, Cloud White and Phantom Black. The more compact X300 weighs just 190 g, measures 7.95 mm in depth and offers a “golden” display size of 6.31 inches. With the new Coral Velvet Glass surface, both models look elegant and are also fingerprint-resistant.

The ZEISS Master Color Display delivers true-color, brilliant images and supports both 2160 Hz PWM and DC dimming – with minimum brightness down to 1 nit for pleasant night-time viewing. Other features include IP68/IP69 protection, an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor 2.0, USB 3.2, an X-axis linear motor and AI Super Link technology for particularly stable network connections. For ambitious photographers, vivo also offers an optional ZEISS tele-extender kit (2.35x), which can be used to extend the focal length for nature and concert photography.

New dimensions in performance and endurance

At the heart of both models is the Dimensity 9500, developed jointly with MediaTek and supported by the Blueprint V3+ imaging chip. In the benchmark test, the X300 Pro broke through the 4.1 million point mark on AnTuTu for the first time – a new record in the Android camp. The batteries are also impressive: The 6510 mAh battery of the Pro model and the 6040 mAh battery of the X300 use second-generation semi-solid battery technology.

According to vivo, this should enable a runtime on a par with 7500 mAh cells. With OriginOS 6, vivo is introducing a redesigned system that promises five years of system fluidity thanks to “super core computing” and “photonic storage” – confirmed by SGS and TÜV Rheinland. Seamless integration with Apple’s ecosystem is also possible for the first time.

Origin OS 6: vivo redefines fluid performance and natural design

To coincide with the X300 series, vivo celebrated the global premiere of Origin OS 6, the company’s most advanced operating system to date. Based on the three pillars of “smoothness, design and AI”, it is intended to redefine the interaction between humans and smartphones in the age of AI. At its heart is the Origin Smooth Engine. This is designed to intelligently combine computing power, memory and display. According to vivo, it improves app launch speed by 18.5%, frame rate stability by 10.5% and accelerates animations by 35%.

Certified by SGS for five years of sustained system fluidity, Origin OS 6 stands for the new vivo philosophy of “Smoothness Mastery” – an experience that “looks good, feels good and lasts”. The revised Origin design combines natural shapes, clear colors and dynamic lighting effects to create an intuitive user interface.

In collaboration with Google, vivo is also integrating a new generation of its vivo AI. This aims to make everyday life smarter and more personal with Origin Island, AI Retouch and DocMaster. The expanded vivo Security platform and the new BlueVolt technology, which reduces energy consumption and heat generation, ensure protection and efficiency. The global rollout of Origin OS 6 will start in November 2025 with a public beta.

Conclusion: Vivo brings photography and performance into harmony

With the X300 series and Origin OS 6, vivo impressively demonstrates how hardware, software and design can be combined to create a consistent user experience. The combination of 200 MP ZEISS camera system, AI-powered image processing, powerful Dimensity 9500 platform and an intuitive, AI-centric operating system takes the X series to a new level. The vivo X300 Pro is aimed at ambitious photographers and creators, while the X300 offers the same DNA in a more manageable form.
