WD My Book: Large storage space finally also for private customers

You want to finally get your extensive movie, photo or PC game collection under control without having to delete excess stuff over and over again? Then the following news should make you happy. So, for the first time, Western Digital (WD) wants to offer its end customers gigantic hard drives of the WD My Book series with capacities of 22 and even 44 TB.

WD My Book with 22 TB or 44 TB

Until now, it was only reserved for commercial customers to buy massive storage from storage expert WD. With the update of the in-house product series “My Book”, however, this is now to change. Finally, private customers can also buy the My Book with 22 TB or even 44 TB of storage space as My Book Duo. The expert for storage solutions wants to equip the My Book Duo with special drives that offer RAID optimization.

The technology is supposed to ensure that the storage solution can unfold its maximum speed immediately after the first start-up. The maximum capacity is also supposed to be made possible thanks to RAID. If redundancy is desired, the My Book Duo can also be reconfigured to RAID-1 if desired. Splitting into two different storage elements is also supposed to be possible with the help of WD’s suitable software.

Prices and Availability

Shortly before the upcoming merger with Kioxia, storage expert WD is apparently turning up the heat once again. At least, many private customers should enjoy the two large storage solutions. If you are also interested, you can get one now. The WD My Book with 22 TB is available at an MSRP of 677.99 euros. The My Book Duo with 44 TB has an MSRP of 1,687.99 euros.
