Until now, anyone who wanted to transfer their WhatsApp chat from Android to an iPhone when switching mobile operating systems was left out in the cold. A new tool finally makes the move easier. The entire history within the messenger can be transferred from Android to iOS.
Transferring WhatsApp from Android to iOS is getting easier
Apple and WhatsApp are now making it easier for anyone switching from Android to an iPhone to transfer their chat history to the new device. As part of the “Transfer to iOS” Android app, Messenger history can henceforth be transferred, Apple has confirmed.
The app creates a direct Wi-Fi connection between the two smartphones and then asks which content should be transferred. Up to now, photos, videos, contacts, messages and settings could be transferred in this way. Now WhatsApp is added as well.
However, it should be noted that this is only possible when setting up an iPhone for the first time. Those who want to transfer their database of text messages, photos, videos and voice messages later will still be left out in the cold. It is also important that users retain their phone number when moving.
Messages remain encrypted
The end-to-end encryption of messages remains intact. Apple does not gain access to the information that is transferred. The new function is currently available in a beta of the “Transfer to iOS” app. Within the next week, the update should then be rolled out to all users.
Another new feature of the app is that apps whose data is transferred in this way are automatically searched for and downloaded from the App Store. Previously, apps had to be downloaded manually.
