The much-awaited multi-device support vcon WhatsApp is now available for everyone. It has been revealed that the new multi-device feature is starting beta testing now, albeit with limited functionality for now.
WhatsApp on multiple devices
The beta of the new WhatsApp “multi-device” feature is available for both Android and iOS. This allows users to send and receive messages via WhatsApp Web and WhatsApp Desktop even without being connected to a nearby smartphone.
The multi-device support has been in development for about one and a half years and started beta testing about three months ago. This continues to exist, at least currently, but can now finally be used by every user of the final WhatsApp variant – until now, it was necessary to register for the beta program.
Multi-Device is currently limited to a maximum of four devices. Smartphones or tablets are still not supported, only the browser-based application WhatsApp Web, as well as the desktop app WhatsApp Desktop are available.
In order to use the new function, the latest version of the WhatsApp messenger must be used. On Android, this is version 2.21.17.24, on the iOS operating system the version number 2.21.180. In addition, the update is currently distributed in waves and is therefore not available to all users at the same time. In order to be able to use the multi-device beta at all, you first have to agree to its use in the app.
