XGIMI Elfin Flip 4K: New Elfin Flip Series Features RGB Triple Laser and Gaming Features

The XGIMI Elfin Flip 4K is a compact home projector featuring RGB triple lasers, 4K resolution, and 1,600 ISO lumens, available starting July 15, 2026, for 999 euros. Together with the Elfin Flip Laser (799 euros) and the already available Elfin Flip Plus (499 euros), it forms the new Elfin Flip series. What makes it special: It is XGIMI’s first projector in the compact Elfin format capable of projecting 4K content.

XGIMI is no stranger to the German market. From the AURA and Halo+ to the MoGo series and Dual-Light technology, the manufacturer has delivered quite a few portable projection devices in recent years. With the Elfin Flip series, it’s now introducing three models that share the same foldable design but differ significantly under the hood.

Compact Housing Meets Laser Light Source

The most striking feature of the series is still its design. The stand can be tilted up to 150 degrees and doubles as a carrying handle—allowing the device to project onto the ceiling if desired, such as for a movie in bed at night. Weighing 1.55 kilograms and measuring 24.5 centimeters wide, the Elfin Flip 4K can be easily moved from the living room to the bedroom or home office.

One thing to keep in mind: “portable” doesn’t mean “mobile” in this context. None of the three models have a built-in battery, so a power outlet is required. If you’re looking for a true outdoor projector, the MoGo series is a better fit.

For lighting, XGIMI uses an RGB triple-laser light source (from supplier Nichia) with 1,600 ISO lumens in both the Flip 4K and the Flip Laser. That’s four times as bright as the original Elfin Flip, which had 400 ISO lumens—a noticeable improvement that should make the projector usable even in slightly dim conditions. It also features a dynamic contrast ratio of 20,000:1, 110 percent BT.2020 color space coverage, and a color accuracy of ΔE less than 1.

A note on resolution: The Flip 4K does not feature a native 4K sensor, but rather a 0.39-inch DLP unit that uses pixel shift to generate the full 3,840 × 2,160 pixels—standard in this compact class. In practice, however, the image still appears significantly sharper than on its 1080p counterparts. A nice bonus that’s rare in this price range: the optical zoom with a throw ratio of 0.98 to 1.3:1 adjusts the image size without requiring you to move the projector or sacrifice sharpness.

Automatic Setup Thanks to ISA

As with earlier models, Intelligent Screen Adapt (ISA) technology takes care of the tedious setup. Autofocus, automatic keystone correction, image alignment, obstacle detection, and wall color adjustment all happen automatically. In plain language: set it up, turn it on, and the device sets itself up. This saves a lot of hassle, especially in rooms without a fixed screen.

Gaming and Streaming: What the XGIMI Elfin Flip 4K Offers

This is where the biggest difference between the models becomes apparent. Only the Elfin Flip 4K comes with true gaming features: a latency of up to 1 ms at 1080p and 120 Hz, plus VRR (Variable Refresh Rate), ALLM (Auto Low Latency Mode), a Black Equalizer for dark scenes, and a dedicated gaming mode. However, the 120 Hz is only available at a reduced Full HD resolution—those playing in 4K are limited to lower frame rates.

The Flip 4K and Flip Laser each feature a 7-watt Harman Kardon speaker with Dolby Audio support. Mono and 7 watts—that won’t fill a large living room, but it’s sufficient for occasional movie nights. For better sound, you can connect a soundbar or AV receiver via HDMI eARC.

XGIMI uses Google TV as its operating system. Netflix, Prime Video, YouTube, and the rest of the Play Store are built right in, so there’s no need for an external streaming stick. In terms of connectivity, it features two HDMI ports (one with eARC), two USB-A ports, Wi-Fi 6, and Bluetooth 5.2. According to the manufacturer, it has 2 GB of RAM and 64 GB of storage.

Pricing, Release Date, and Pre-orders

The new Elfin Flip series will be available starting July 15, 2026. The Elfin Flip 4K costs 999 euros, the Elfin Flip Laser 799 euros, and the Elfin Flip Plus—which is already available—costs 499 euros. The devices will initially be sold through the official XGIMI website.

The pre-order period has been underway since June 25 on XGIMI.com. Those who order early will receive a free portable 70-inch screen—a nice incentive, especially since the projector doesn’t come with its own screen.

Conclusion: Is the XGIMI Elfin Flip 4K worth it?

With the XGIMI Elfin Flip 4K, the popular flip-style series finally gets enough brightness and sharpness to go beyond mere bedroom entertainment. An RGB triple laser, optical zoom, and full-fledged gaming features are a rare combination in this size and price range. The lack of a built-in battery slightly dampens the “portable” promise, but it’s hardly an issue for typical use between the living room and bedroom. If you don’t need 4K and gaming, you might be better off with the Flip Laser, which is 200 euros cheaper—both models share the same laser brightness. Naturally, a final verdict on the actual image quality will only be possible after an in-depth test.
