Xiaomi Mi 11: Amazing performance at a remarkably low price

Are you looking for a new flagship smartphone, but do not want to spend too much money? Then Xiaomi might have the right device for you with the Mi 11. The Chinese company launches a real price breaker with its newcomer.

Xiaomi focuses on innovation

When it comes to smartphones, the Chinese manufacturer Xiaomi has become a real innovation driver. For example, the company is currently working on a method of wireless battery charging at a distance (we reported). However, just as well as the company tries to establish forward-looking technologies, some of Xiaomi’s devices also show themselves to be down-to-earth. The best example at the moment is probably the Mi 11, which is a smartphone that offers high-end features. Despite the rich features, the company charges a price that will make the competition green with envy. The Mi 11 cannot only keep up with the competition. It is also clearly ahead in one aspect. The smartphone from the Far East can be charged with 50 watts of power – wirelessly.

The future is wireless

However, the special charging power is not supposed to be possible out of the box without a cable. According to the manufacturer, you need a corresponding charger for this. The really amazing thing is the barely existing discrepancy between charging via power supply and wireless charging. Only five watts more charging power is said to be possible via the classic cable connection. Who would want to use a charging cable at all? But not only the charging technology sounds amazing. On top of that, the Mi 11 also offers other features that we only know from real flagships.

The display measures 6.81 inches diagonally and resolves with 2,960 x 1,440 pixels (WQHD+). Thanks to AMOLED technology, we should not only expect vivid colors, but also great contrasts. The refresh rate of 120 Hz is supposed to enable super-smooth image reproduction. Fast scrolling in particular is known to be a lot of fun. Xiaomi opted for a solution below the display for the fingerprint sensor. The manufacturer promises a lot in terms of sound. The speakers are supposed to have “first-class cinema sound”. That sounds like a lot of marketing talk, but it arouses interest in trying it out. Especially when you realize that the speakers were developed in collaboration with the sound experts from Harman/Kardon.

A pleasingly inconspicuous camera module

The specs on the camera also read very well. For example, Xiaomi installs a sensor with a remarkable 108 megapixels in the Mi 11’s main camera. Whether you really need that is up to you. However, it looks very good on paper. However, users who want to save storage space will probably rarely use the extremely high resolution. Besides the powerful main camera, Xiaomi installs an ultra-wide-angle camera with 13 megapixels.

The camera module has been kept pleasingly small.

On top of that, a 5-megapixel telemacro camera is used as the third module. According to Xiaomi, the telemacro lens should enable really remarkable night shots. This can at least be concluded from the sample photos that the manufacturer has provided.

Only a hands on will show what the camera is really capable of. However, should Xiaomi not have glossed over the shot, we can definitely expect a lot here.

Processor on Samsung level

That Xiaomi does not make any compromises here becomes clear at the latest when it comes to the processor. The Mi 11 is in no way inferior to the Galaxy S21 from Samsung. Like the South Korean flagship, Xiaomi also relies on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 888 for its Mi 11. Thus, we will not have to worry about performance. Of course, the upcoming flagship has a 5G modem and supports all common Wi-Fi standards. The latest Bluetooth 5.2 is also supported.

Price and availability

We do not have to wait much longer for the exciting flagship from China in this country. The Xiaomi Mi 11 should already be available for pre-order from February 25. Those who want 128 GB of storage will get the cheapest variant of the smartphone at an MSRP of 799.90 Euros. The device with 256 GB of internal storage is available for 899.90 Euros.
