XMG APEX 17: Powerful 17.3-inch all-rounder with Ryzen 9 9955HX and RTX 5060 presented

The German company XMG is expanding its 17.3-inch model series with an AMD-based variant: the XMG APEX 17 (M25). The laptop combines the latest high-end hardware with a WQHD display and is aimed at users looking for maximum computing power in a portable chassis. With the new Ryzen 9 9955HX and the RTX 5060, the device offers a strong basis for gaming and demanding applications.

  • 17.3-inch WQHD display (2,560 × 1,440) with 240 Hz and 100% DCI-P3
  • AMD Ryzen 9 9955HX with 16 cores and 32 threads
  • NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5060 (115 watt TGP, Dynamic Boost)
  • Up to 128 GB DDR5 RAM and 16 TB SSD storage

Powerful performance in classic 16:9 format

Despite the current trend towards 16:10, the XMG APEX 17 continues to rely on a 16:9 panel – according to XMG due to the high demand in this size class. The IPS display has a WQHD resolution (2,560 × 1,440 pixels), fully covers the DCI-P3 and sRGB color spaces and achieves a refresh rate of 240 Hz. With a brightness of 300 nits and extensive color space coverage, the panel is equally suitable for games with high FPS values and for content creation.

The Ryzen 9 9955HX comes from AMD’s latest generation and offers 16 cores with 32 threads – based on the architecture of the desktop models. This means that APEX 17 clearly focuses on computing power and multitasking. Paired with the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5060 (115 watt TGP including Dynamic Boost), even the latest AAA titles and GPU-accelerated applications are no problem. XMG is also planning a variant with RTX 5070 for the first quarter of 2026 to further expand the model series.

Memory, connections and cooling with reserves

With two M.2 slots (PCIe 4.0), the notebook offers space for up to 16 TB of SSD storage. This is supported by additional thermal pads for temperature stabilization, which ensures consistently high performance. The setup is complemented by two RAM slots, which together can accommodate up to 128 GB DDR5-5600 – ideal for computing-intensive applications such as simulations, rendering or virtualization.

The connectivity is versatile: Gigabit Ethernet, HDMI 2.1, USB-C 3.2 Gen2 (DisplayPort 1.4a) and the power connection can be found at the rear. On the side, USB-A ports, an audio combo port and another USB-C 3.2 Gen2 with DisplayPort 2.1 and up to 100 W Power Delivery complete the range. In total, up to three external monitors can be connected natively, two of them directly via the dedicated GPU. A MUX switch also enables manual switching between the integrated and dedicated graphics unit.

The input unit offers customizable RGB lighting, a fully-fledged numeric keypad and a large 150 × 90 mm glass touchpad. A Full HD webcam with privacy shutter and noise reduction (TNR) rounds off the package.
