XMG NEO 15 and NEO 17 (M21) now with Intel Tiger Lake-H45

XMG has introduced the new equipment variant of its gaming laptops XMG NEO 15 and 17. The M21 model generation is now available with the new Intel Tiger Lake H45 processors, which results in even more performance.

Even more performance

XMG always tries to release an AMD and an Intel variant of its gaming laptops. With the M21 model line of XMG NEO gaming laptops, they now get the newly introduced 45-watt processors from Intel’s Tiger Lake H-series. An Intel Core i7-11800H provides a decent performance increase in the NEO 15 and 17. The architecture is completely renewed, so the CPU with eight cores, 16 threads and a base and boost clock of 2.3 GHz up to 4.6 GHz provides the desired performance. An even further optimized CPU cooling and liquid metal (Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut) are used as heat conduction medium in the Tiger Lake variants of the series.

Also, for the first time, the graphics card is connected via 16 PCI Express 4.0 lanes. Furthermore, the primary M.2 SSD communicates via four PCIe 4.0 lanes. The new processors also take the step from Thunderbolt 3 to Thunderbolt 4. Faster DDR4-3200 working memories are also supported. The AMD variants cannot offer such features.

The new CPU also enables a performance increase on the graphics card side. The graphics cards of the Nvidia GeForce RTX 3000 series no longer work with a maximum TGP of 150 watts (135 watts + 15 watts Dynamic Boost 2.0), but with 165 watts. When configured with the top model of the Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080. In addition, the RTX 3060 or the RTX 3070 are also available.

Full HD or WQHD IPS panel

For both variants of the XMG Neo M21, there is still a choice between a WQHD IPS panel with 165 Hz, 95 percent coverage of the sRGB color space and a maximum brightness of 350 cd/m2 and a 240 Hz IPS panel which resolves in Full HD.

Other key features include an opto-mechanical keyboard with tactile silent switches and anti-ghosting. In addition, there is the RGB single key illumination and N-key rollover. In contrast to the old version of the Intel models, the webcam has been integrated on the upper edge of the display here. In addition, there is 2.5 Gbit LAN, Thunderbolt 4 and M.2 SSD connection via PCI Express 4.0.

Overall, the XMG NEO 15 measures 359.8 x 243 x 26 mm and weighs 2.2 kg, while the XMG NEO 17 measures 395.7 x 260.8 x 27.45 mm and weighs 2.5 kg.

Availability and pricing

The two new model variants of the XMG NEO 15 and 17 can be configured starting in early June 2021 and are scheduled to ship at the end of June. In the base configuration with an Intel Core i7-11800H, the Nvidia GeForce RTX 3060, 16 GB of DDR4-3200 RAM, a 500 GB SSD and the WQHD IPS panel with 165 Hz, the price is expected to be 1,949 Euros. Due to the shortage of components, the price is not exact yet.
