Chinese electric car manufacturer Xpeng unveiled its new L03 coupe SUV during a global presentation in Munich, marking the model’s European debut. Unlike in China, where the manufacturer offers the L03 in nine variants, two powertrain options will initially be available here: a battery electric vehicle (BEV) and an electric vehicle with a range extender (EREV).

More Affordable Than the Tesla Model Y and Škoda Elroq

While the L03 is already available in China starting at the equivalent of around 16,000 euros, the European BEV version starts at 35,600 euros. Prices for the EREV version had not yet been finalized at the time of writing. This puts Xpeng below the prices of several established competitors: The Tesla Model Y starts at 39,990 euros, the Škoda Elroq at 37,390 euros, and the Hyundai Ioniq 5 at 45,750 euros.

Range and Charging Capacity

The rear-wheel-drive BEV variant uses a 71.2-kWh LFP battery and is rated for a range of up to 520 km. The EREV version uses a smaller 37.2-kWh battery, which provides a pure-electric range of 315 km according to CLTC; combined with the range extender, the total range increases to over 1,000 km. Both variants reach a top speed of 180 km/h and accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.6 seconds. Thanks to the 400-volt architecture, Xpeng says the battery can be charged from 20 to 80 percent in 18 minutes.

Features and Availability

Inside, the L03 features electrically adjustable, ventilated, and heated leather seats with a full-body massage function, a 15.6-inch central display, and a 26.8-inch head-up display. It also features a panoramic sunroof, the Next-Generation Pilot (NGP) driver-assistance system based on VLA 2.0, seven airbags, and 13 driver-assistance systems. As with the Xpeng G6, the manufacturer offers an eight-year or 160,000 km warranty on the battery. In addition to China, the L03 is set to be offered in a total of 64 international markets. This places the model among a growing lineup of Chinese electric SUVs that are increasingly putting pressure on established manufacturers in Europe. According to Xpeng, further technical details and the complete price list are set to be published on the manufacturer’s official website in the coming weeks.
