Yamaha W-B1A: Classy Bluetooth speaker now available

Yamaha showed its Bluetooth speaker Yamaha W-B1A as a prototype for the first time at IFA 2022, and now the smart speaker is available in stores. It wants to convince with sound despite its compact design and is also suitable for outdoor use thanks to IP67 certification.

The Yamaha W-B1A in detail

After the TW-E3C in-ear headphones at the beginning of March, the Yamaha W-B1A awaits us with a new Bluetooth speaker that sounds promising. It relies on a compact size of 10.5 cm x 8.8 cm x 8.8 cm (height x width x depth) and weighs less than 500 grams.

Nevertheless, a 55 mm driver and two passive membranes are at work inside, which are supposed to realize a rich, room-filling sound including True Sound from Yamaha. Smartphones or other devices can be connected via Bluetooth 5.0.

With its fabric cover and designs in various colors, the W-B1A is supposed to cut a fine figure both at home and on the go. It is also protected against water and dust in outdoor use thanks to IOP67 certification.

The battery life is also convincing. The manufacturer, Yamaha, promises a runtime of up to 12 hours. Charging is via USB Type-C, whereby the Yamaha W-B1A should be fully charged in three hours.

Operation and extras

Yamaha’s W-B1A Bluetooth speaker is operated via four buttons, which can be used to pause or resume playback or adjust the volume. It also features the Clear Voice function, which is already familiar from soundbars and other AV devices from Yamaha.

This clearly emphasizes the voice reproduction in audio books, podcasts or other recordings, which is supposed to ensure better intelligibility in dialogs or similar.

In home use, the optional CC-T1A charging station also proves useful, quickly re-powering the Bluetooth speaker.

Price and Availability

The Yamaha W-B1A Bluetooth speaker is available now in black, light gray as well as carbon gray. The manufacturer’s recommended retail price is 119.00 euros. The CC-T1A charging station has an MSRP of 29.00 euros.
