Zectron: Folding e-bike with 250 km range presented

Manufacturer Zectron has unveiled the eponymous e-bike, a new folding e-bike that combines a classy uni-body design with modern technology and an impressive range. Up to 250 km range is said to be possible at peak, and funding is provided via crowdfunding.

The Zectron e-bike in detail

E-folding bikes or folding e-bikes, whatever they want to call them, are enjoying enormous popularity. Just recently, Fiido presented a new edition of its model with the X (2022), while traditional manufacturer Blaupunkt – for example with the Enno – also offers various models.

The Zectron, however, wants to step it up several notches in many respects and promises above all an impressive range of up to 250 kilometers. Of course, this always depends on the payload, the terrain and many other factors.

But the e-folding bike also wants to stand out from the competition in other respects. For example, the manufacturer relies on a robust uni-body design, which should enable a robust construction and provide additional comfort.

The frame is made of aerospace-grade magnesium and is both sturdy and lightweight. Overall, the foldable e-bike comes to a weight of 25 kg and is designed for a maximum total weight of 120 kg.

Modern technology

But the Zectron also relies on modern technology in other respects, although the manufacturer has by no means communicated all the details yet. For example, all cables are supposed to be hidden inside to achieve a clean and minimalistic look.

A particularly ergonomic design is also promised, which promises a high level of comfort – regardless of one’s height and weight. A 3.9-inch display is found in the handlebars, which shows the most important information about speed, range, battery life and more.

Folding is also said to be particularly easy and can be done in just two steps. Overall, the Zectron measures 150 cm x 65 cm x 106 cm when ready to drive, or 85 cm x 65 cm x 80 cm when folded.

The drive system, at least in the EU version, is a 250-watt motor that provides pedal assistance at speeds of up to 25 km/h. This means that the e-bike is also suitable for cyclists. This means that the e-bike is also suitable for road use. The pedal assistance can be adjusted in five stages, and the bike has a total of seven gears. According to the promo pictures, the gears come from Shimano.

In addition, there is an anti-theft feature thanks to a built-in GPS tracker in the bike, with which the bike can be tracked at any time, but also locked. Within the companion app, you can track your e-bike and read important information.

Price and availability

It is currently unclear when the Zectron e-folding bike will be offered and at what price. According to the official website, the crowdfunding campaign on Indiegogo should start soon. Those who register in advance via email can look forward to a 50 percent discount.
