ANNKE FCD800 test: design and workmanship
ANNKE’s design is based on a more classic outdoor look: robust plastic body, weatherproof and available in a tower or bullet design. For the test, ANNKE provided us with the tower model, which was primarily designed for mounting on canopies or roof overhangs. The bullet model is more likely to be used on walls.
The camera comes in a white plastic housing. It scores points with its good workmanship, which gives it a robust impression. This impression is confirmed when you look at the data sheet. The camera offers IP67 certification, which promises good protection against damage caused by water, dirt or dust.
The two-part cable, which offers both Ethernet and power connections, is particularly striking. The decision to install the cable permanently may offer a high level of protection against water. However, it also restricts the user a little in terms of installation flexibility. After all, it cannot be replaced by a longer cable. Nevertheless, the decision to use PoE technology must be praised.
After all, the camera not only receives the necessary power supply here. It also promises a stable internet connection. The housing looks solid and is well equipped for outdoor use. However, the mounting connection feels a little loose as soon as the camera is snapped into the holder, which could prove to be a potential problem over time.
ANNKE FCD800 test: Setup and mounting
Installation is child’s play. ANNKE includes practical installation instructions. The first step is to attach the mounting plate using the three screws. The enclosed drilling template helps with this. Then, thanks to PoE, experience has shown that it is easy to continue. A network cable connects the camera and PoE switch or PoE injector, and that’s it. However, PoE is only optional. Alternatively, a 12 V DC power supply unit can also be used.
This is how I did it in my test. However, the LAN cable must still be connected in addition to the mains cable. WiFi is not on board. What a pity. Unfortunately, there is also no option for a direct connection to a power or lamp connection. You must therefore have a suitable socket nearby. Given the compact form of the FCD800, I would have been pleased to have a battery and WiFi.
This would have provided additional flexibility when choosing the mounting location. As soon as the camera is supplied with power, it’s time to set it up. The ANNKE Vision app is available for this purpose. On the software side, the setup is initially simple. You first need to create an account with a suitable password. This is followed by pairing with the camera, which unfortunately takes quite a long time.
ANNKE FCD800 test: App operation
After some time, the ANNKE cam was finally connected to the network. In retrospect, I have to say that the setup via app is sometimes a bit bumpy. It wasn’t that easy to pair the camera. However, when I finally managed it, the connection was stable. The software itself seems a little old-fashioned. The competition generally has more modern and clearer app solutions to offer here.
However, you can’t complain when it comes to the range of settings. The ANNKE camera can be individually adapted to your needs once you have familiarized yourself with the menu structure. This not only allows you to operate several devices. You can also access the live image from anywhere. You can also define blind areas and the night vision type. Unfortunately, control via the app was a little sluggish overall. We can only hope that more speed will be provided in the course of updates.
The app also does not offer a dedicated cloud solution. But more on that later. In practice, I also noticed a few minor problems. For example, I found the model name of the camera in the app a little confusing. Instead of the name FCD800, the abbreviation I91EV is used. This can be quite confusing when using several cameras. However, as you can give the camera its own name, this shouldn’t be too much of an issue.
ANNKE FCD800 test: Camera quality
While the app operation is a clear weakness of the FCD800, the hardware is really impressive. This applies in particular to the image quality on offer here. The FCD800 offers a total of two 1/2.4″ sensors. In combination with the panorama stitching technology on the software side, the camera not only creates impressive images with a resolution of up to 4096 × 1860 pixels. It also offers a field of view of 180°.
The moving images are not only sharp and rich in detail. They also score points with good color fidelity. Especially when used during the day, the image is impressive and can easily replace two cameras thanks to the large field of view. And the two sensors are not only impressive in broad daylight. The camera also delivers good results in low light conditions. ANNKE offers you several night vision modes that you can set in the app.
In addition to the classic black and white view with infrared sensors, there is also a color night view. Here, the camera switches on its integrated LED spotlights to provide a clear view. In terms of image sharpness, however, the monochrome night vision clearly wins in my opinion. The automatic switch between black and white and color mode as soon as the camera detects movement is a cool feature. Of course, the ANNKE also offers motion detection.
As we are in the year 2025, this must of course be based on AI. The manufacturer speaks of Motion Detection 2.0, which not only detects movement and sends you a push notification. The camera can also differentiate between sources of movement. Details can then be viewed in the app. The AI makes it possible to differentiate between people, vehicles and other objects. This also worked well in the test.

ANNKE FCD800 test: sound and intercom
As befits a modern camera, the FCD800 naturally also offers an intercom function or two-way audio. This uses a microphone and loudspeaker in the camera. This allows you to conveniently communicate with a person who is in the camera’s field of view. You should not expect too much from the audio quality.

The intelligibility is good, but by no means brilliant. However, it is certainly sufficient for everyday use. If it turns out that there is an unwanted person on your property, you can also conveniently activate an alarm, which also uses the loudspeaker.

A 97 dB siren can then be sounded via this. In addition to the alarm sound, you can also use the spotlight to play a strobe light. This should chase unwanted visitors away from your property.
ANNKE FCD800 test: Memory and smart home
As already mentioned, you cannot use cloud storage with the FCD800. Fans of high data protection standards will hardly be bothered by this. After all, local video storage always guarantees maximum data protection. What’s more, this saves you the follow-up costs that would be incurred with a cloud subscription. You can use a microSD card with a maximum size of 512 GB in the ANNKE camera. This should be sufficient for most users.

Alternatively, you can also connect the FCD800 to a NAS or use it in conjunction with an NVR system. The camera is also pleasantly open to other smart home solutions. It not only offers ONVIF support. Coupling with third-party systems is also possible. If you want to avoid the somewhat annoying ANNKE Vision app, you can also conveniently control the camera via the Home Assistant.

Conclusion
The ANNKE FCD800 is a technically powerful outdoor surveillance camera with impressive 180° panoramic 4K resolution, solid night vision, AI detection and flexible storage options. It scores particularly well in terms of hardware: image quality, field of view and workmanship are among the best in its price class. On the negative side is the software: the app seems old-fashioned, sometimes confusing and less convenient than many of its competitors and often works quite slowly.
Those who rely exclusively on the manufacturer’s app could experience frustration here. The lack of cloud options is also a disadvantage for some. A purchase recommendation is therefore only given to tech-savvy users, smart home enthusiasts or anyone looking for a powerful camera without cloud constraints. The FCD800 also lacks flexibility. I would have been very happy to see WiFi or a rechargeable battery here. As it is, you are tied to a mains adapter and/or LAN cable.
