With the AquaSense 2 Ultra, the renowned pool robot manufacturer Beatbot is launching its new product range. The new AquaSense 2 series is divided into three versions: from the basic model to the Pro and the Ultra model. With the Ultra, the manufacturer aims to significantly exceed the previous benchmark for top-class devices. To this end, the company is increasingly focusing on technical innovations and artificial intelligence when it comes to features. This is also reflected in the awards: In addition to the “iF Design Award 2025”, the pool robot has already received the “MUSE Design Award Gold Winner” as well as the well-known “Red Dot Winner 2025” award.
The Beatbot AquaSense 2 Ultra relies on five-stage cleaning technology including smart extras such as AI-supported route planning including complete mapping of the pool. With the help of a camera on the front, the pool robot can also independently detect both dirt and obstacles. Added to this is the huge battery with a capacity of 13,400 mAh, which puts all the pool robots we have tested to date in the shade. This guarantees a sufficiently long cleaning time – even several times, depending on the pool size. The automatic parking mode has also been optimized: Instead of parking on the wall or floor of the pool as before, the pool robot now floats on the surface of the water directly after the job is done. This should put an end to the days when you had to laboriously fish the pool robot off the floor.
All of this together is sure to make your technical heart beat faster and should of course pay off when using your own pool. Today’s test clarifies what the Beatbot AquaSense 2 Ultra can do in practice and for whom the Ultra model is worthwhile.

Scope of delivery
- Two packages with pool robot, instructions and accessories
- Extra accessories: side brushes, screws, screwdriver
- Protective cover protects against dust and moisture
The Beatbot AquaSense 2 Ultra is supplied in two packages. The first thing that catches the eye when opening the main box is the quick start guide, which is spread across the entire surface. Once set aside, an envelope containing the other documents, such as the operating instructions, is also revealed. Another step down, the carefully packaged AquaSense 2 Ultra is revealed.
All the accessories for the pool robot are packed in a cardboard box, which in turn is divided into smaller packages. It contains the charging station, a set of clarifying agents and a hook to make it easier to fish out the pool robot. All of this corresponds to the scope of delivery of the Aquasense 2 Pro, but that’s not all. The Ultra model also comes with a set consisting of four side brushes and the corresponding replacement screws as well as a screwdriver. The cover for the pool robot is particularly practical as it protects against dust and water. This means that the Beatbot AquaSense 2 Ultra comes through the cold season clean and undamaged.
Appearance & workmanship
- Futuristic design with metallic look and IMR coating
- Extensive sensor technology including AI vision, ToF and ultrasound
- High-quality workmanship with over 200 passed quality controls
The Beatbot AquaSense 2 Ultra makes a clearly defined and modern impression at first glance. Its design impresses with its simplicity, soft contours and a futuristic touch, which is given in particular by the pronounced side brushes on the front. Essentially, the basic concept with the caterpillar tracks and the four large roller brushes, two on each side, has remained unchanged from the previous series. As far as the color scheme is concerned, it makes quite an impression visually and really sets itself apart from other pool robots in this segment. This is mainly due to the predominantly dark surface, which reflects in the sun and is reminiscent of the metallic look of new cars. In fact, the manufacturer even took inspiration from the automotive industry when developing the pool robot and gave it an IMR coating. This makes the Ultra even more resistant to scratches and UV rays and more resistant to abrasion.
The numerous sensors on the front immediately catch the eye. There are not only two additional lights under the skimmer flap, but also the AI vision sensor. A TOF sensor and two ultrasonic sensors are also used one level below. The same applies to the right-hand side, where ultrasonic sensors and an infrared-based ToF sensor are also integrated. These are used to scan the side of the pool robot, while the front of the device naturally captures the Beatbot AquaSense 2 Ultra’s direct field of vision. Surprisingly, there are even two ultrasonic sensors on the bottom side, which are used to scan the surface. One detail that the Beatbot AquaSense (our test) has so far lacked is probably the six side guide wheels on the Ultra model. Their task is not only to protect the housing from wear and tear, but they also play a decisive role in wall guidance and obstacle avoidance. Last but not least, there are also loudspeakers on board, which the pool robot uses to make announcements.
As with the previous series, there was no reason to worry about the workmanship this time either. This is clear in view of the manufacturer’s high quality standards. The Beatbot AquaSense 2 Ultra has already undergone over 15 certifications and more than 200 quality checks. As a result, our pool robot is absolutely flawless following the strict testing procedure. No matter where you touch it: Everything is firmly in place and nothing creaks or presses uncomfortably. The pressure switch for opening the lid of the filter basket also works smoothly. The cover of the clarifier compartment, on the other hand, is comparatively stiff. Some dexterity is required when installing the side brushes, more on this later. One thing is certain: Complaints are at best at a very high level, as the pool robot does not make any major blunders.
Features
- 11 motors, 27 sensors, 5,500 GPH suction power
- Separate compartment for environmentally friendly clarifier + dosing can be controlled via app
- Double basket filter system with anti-blocking protection
The Beatbot AquaSense 2 Ultra combines eleven motors and a total of 27 sensors distributed across the pool robot. This ensures a suction power of around 5,500 GPH, which remains identical to the first AquaSense. Of course, all these components also take their toll, which is reflected in the weight of the pool robot. The Beatbot AquaSense 2 Ultra weighs in at an impressive 13.2 kg, which definitely makes it no longer a lightweight. As far as charging is concerned, this is done wirelessly as usual – two charging contacts on the underside are responsible for this. Their counterpart is located on the charging dock, which must first be assembled at the factory. As already mentioned, the same procedure applies to the side brushes. Once clamped into the circular holder, they must be screwed in all the way around. The end of the side brush is then placed back onto the locking pin.
As an innovation, already known from the Beatbot iSkim Ultra (our test) and AquaSense Pro of the first generation, a separate compartment for clarifier has been added. Thanks to its production from recycled crab shells, this clarifier is gentle on the skin and therefore free from harmful chemicals. Nevertheless, dirt, oils and residues can be removed more quickly and easily than with standard clarifying agents. The corresponding compartment is located on the back of the pool robot, while the use of the clarifier can be conveniently controlled via the Beatbot app or alternatively by pressing and holding the mode button for three seconds.
As far as the basic controls are concerned, all controls are located on the top of the pool robot. From here, the “Floor”, “Standard”, “Pro” and “Custom” modes can be selected individually. These are essentially divided into different processes, ranging from cleaning the floor, walls and waterline to the surface. Particularly practical: the user-defined mode can be specifically adapted via the app and is then synchronized via this button.
The filter basket is located under the dark cover on the head side and holds around 0.3 liters more than the Pro model. To open the filter basket lid, there is a pressure switch at the height of the carrying handle. This is used to unlock the lid, allowing it to be lifted. Now the double basket is revealed, as it is a double filter with different finenesses. While the 4-liter filter basket works with a filter density of 150 µm + 250 µm, the 3.7-liter thinner basket also has a filter density of 250 µm. A special anti-blocking system also prevents the annoying problem of clogged filters. Furthermore, the use of the double basket ensures both improved efficiency and even finer filtration. Grains of sand and other tiny particles are captured particularly thoroughly. The AIPER Scuba X1 already works in a similar way (our test).
App scope
- Manufacturer app offers control, live tracking and various cleaning functions
- Additional options such as AI quick mode, parking and temperature display
- Good user interface with modern design
The proprietary “Beatbot” app, which is available for iOS and Android, can be used for additional convenient functions. After registration, the pool robot can be added to the account either via a QR code on the lid or alternatively via Wi-Fi. Incidentally, the AquaSense 2 series now has a 5 GHz network, which is actually a novelty for smart devices. In this respect, Beatbot has once again stepped up its game, as the first AquaSense generation only offered 2.4 GHz.
Once the Beatbot AquaSense 2 Ultra has been paired, a short introduction is followed by the start dashboard. This can be used to control the various cleaning modes or to create an individual mode according to your own requirements. A detour to the laboratory functions is also recommended. Here you should check the boxes for “Additional light” and “Visual AI detection”. Despite the beta status of these functions, a so-called AI quick mode is activated. Instead of cleaning the entire pool, the pool robot will then only clean the dirty areas that have been detected and marked thanks to the camera and AI. This means the pool is ready for bathing fun more quickly. And thanks to the built-in thermostat, the Beatbot AquaSense 2 Ultra displays the current water temperature as soon as it is on the water.
Other functions include remote control of the Beatbot AquaSense 2 Ultra in skimmer mode, i.e. on the water. This can be quite cool from time to time, especially with its own turbo button. Just tap the “Park” button and the pool robot automatically positions itself on the surface of the pool to be picked up. The app also provides insights into previous cleaning processes, live tracking and push notifications when cleaning is complete. However, one of the limitations is that the wireless connection breaks down under water, which means that some functions cannot be used in real time. Regardless of this, the app presents itself as a whole with a clear user interface and many functions that need to be explored first. With the exception of the still somewhat inaccurate translations, there is practically nothing to complain about.
Practical test
- Cleans floors and walls thoroughly and efficiently
- Weaknesses on the water surface, some orientation difficulties
- Detergent can be dosed, AI quick mode saves cleaning time
The test environment
A round pool with a steel wall is used for our test. With a height of 120 cm and a diameter of 460 cm, the pool has a capacity of approx. 19,000 liters. As part of our test, we want to investigate whether the Beatbot AquaSense 2 Ultra is able to remove all the dirt from the pool.
Commissioning
The Beatbot AquaSense 2 Ultra is always charged using the charging dock. Simply place the pool robot on it at an angle and the charging process starts automatically, recognizable by the constantly flashing LED bar next to the operating buttons. The battery status is indicated visually depending on the color. Green means that the battery is sufficiently charged, yellow indicates a low battery. If the light is orange, the battery is almost empty. In this case, the pool robot should be charged for around 4.5 hours for a full charge.
With a full battery, it’s now time to go to the pool. First select the desired control mode. Then wait about five seconds on a flat surface for calibration before starting the cleaning process. If necessary, the clarifier can also be used or dosed directly. This eliminates the need to take it in and out and the agent can be left in until it is completely used up.
Cleaning the floor
In the following, we will go into more detail about the various cleaning processes of the Beatbot AquaSense 2 Ultra. The chapter is divided into the areas of floor, wall to waterline and water surface. The pool robot is now charged, so it’s time to leave – or for the pool robot: off into the cool water!
As was to be expected, the Beatbot AquaSense 2 Ultra scores full marks here. To begin with, the robot performs a 360-degree rotation and scans the floor surface with its camera and sensor units. It then moves on to cleaning, with the pool robot leisurely making its way around the pool. The slow movement in particular ensures that fine dirt is not whirled up in the first place, but can be removed directly by the powerful roller brushes. Even the inclines at the edges of the pool, which are caused by sand that has been piled up, could be tackled and completely overcome as a circular path. In this respect, it can be said that despite the simple pool shape, the floor navigation works excellently. As usual, the AquaSense 2 Ultra always follows its set movement patterns and doses the clarifier during cleaning – but only if it has been activated manually beforehand.
The result: at the end of the day, or basically within around 45 minutes, the pool was thoroughly cleaned and completely free of residues such as bugs, sand, leaves or small branches. Also worth mentioning is the AI quick mode, which performs well despite its beta status. This effectively shortens the entire cleaning process. As only the area that is actually dirty is approached, the majority of the pool floor is spared. This is particularly practical for anyone who wants to get into the cool water quickly but doesn’t want to miss out on a cleaned pool.
Cleaning the wall
Now comes wall cleaning – a category in which the first generation AquaSense has already performed well. Here, the Beatbot AquaSense 2 Ultra uses the so-called N-pattern: after an inclined ascent, there is a straight descent and then it goes up again with a slight lateral offset.
The pool robot puts a lot of effort into this and delivers a remarkable result. It not only cleans the wall surface without any gaps, but also masters the pool ladder, which has already caused headaches for other robots, with ease. Even the piled-up sand corners are no obstacle for the pool robot, which has always been able to shimmy up safely. This is thanks to the much more sophisticated technology package, which is why any other reaction would have surprised us. Cool: In contrast to conventional pool robots, which only scrub the waterline once, the AquaSense 2 Ultra first moves to the surface, then back into the water and finally up a second time. This ensures that even stubborn dirt is removed on the second attempt at the latest.
Interim conclusion: The Beatbot AquaSense 2 Ultra impresses with its extensive range of features right up to the waterline, ensuring seamless cleaning. Up to this point, no incidents such as getting stuck on the pool ladder, tipping over or difficulties climbing the wall occurred. A closer look at the waterline of the round pool wall shows that all the vermin that had been trapped there could be completely removed.
Cleaning the water surface
The Beatbot AquaSense 2 Ultra now transforms into a floating cleaning unit. In this mode, the pool robot becomes a running time miracle and can run continuously for up to ten hours. Depending on the cleaning area and intensity, the battery normally lasts up to 5 hours, regardless of whether only the floor or the walls are to be cleaned. This is also due to the fact that the extensive sensor technology is mainly used under water and now mainly runs in economical mode. Incidentally, a full-surface solar panel, as found on the Beatbot iSkim Ultra, is not found here. However, the rotating side brushes are also used here for cleaning edges and corners. At the same time, the skimmer flap folds out, allowing the dirt to get inside the Beatbot AquaSense 2 Ultra and get caught in the filter basket.
The cleaning performance in the middle pool area should be rated positively. At this point, the cleaning pattern ensures thorough removal of dirt, including new impurities, for example in the form of flying insects. The side brushes also deliver good results. Thanks to their parallel rotational movement towards the inside of the housing, they ensure that some particles are virtually “inhaled”.
However, our round pool with a smooth, blue liner revealed a shortcoming: the pool robot apparently did not recognize the walls correctly from time to time, ran into them and gave thrust until it changed course after a few seconds. It is unclear whether this is due to the (reflective?) blue pool liner, the compact pool shape or the limited size in general. In pools with a tiled structure, this behavior should probably occur less or ideally not at all. Curious: We have not observed such behavior with the Beatbot iSkim Ultra. As a result, some dirt remained around the edges of the pool.
This came as a surprise: although the floor and walls were thoroughly cleaned, the cleaning of the water surface looked rather modest. The dirt extraction was generally successful, although not all dirt particles were caught. The occasional pushes against the pool wall also seemed a little strange. The manufacturer still has some catching up to do here and should possibly provide a firmware update to optimize the surface cleaning. The necessary technology under the hood is certainly available. In terms of parking on the water surface and automatic draining when retrieving water, however, the device is once again convincing across the board.
Cleaning
- Done in just a few steps – simple maintenance like its predecessor
- Self-emptying after removal for easier transportation
- Large filter basket is sufficient for several cleaning trips
The cleaning process of the Beatbot AquaSense 2 Ultra is similar to that of its predecessor model and has therefore remained unchanged. Subsequent maintenance was also extremely straightforward and completed in no time – this can also be confirmed here. Thanks to the large filter basket, the Beatbot AquaSense 2 Ultra should be able to handle several cleaning trips before the four-liter capacity is nearly exhausted.
However, the following situation can be quite irritating the first time: Even after you have lifted the pool robot out of the water, the motor initially remains active. This process is audible and is used for automatic self-draining. The pool robot drains residual water in a controlled manner, making it lighter and easier to transport. The smartest thing to do is to leave it at the edge of the pool for the time being so that no residual water gets into your own four walls.
The first step in cleaning is to open the housing cover using the pressure switch. The double basket can then be easily removed using the blue handle and rinsed out with the garden hose. The fine particles are sometimes a little more stubborn, so it is best to clean the inside and outside. Finally, the filter basket is put back into the Beatbot AquaSense 2 Ultra, its handle folded in and the housing cover closed.
Beatbot AquaSense 2 Ultra test: Conclusion
It is difficult to summarize the Beatbot AquaSense 2 Ultra. The conclusion, which also deals with the individual purchase decision, is correspondingly detailed.
Finally everything in one device!
The Beatbot AquaSense 2 Ultra leaves a thoroughly positive impression in the test. Technically, the pool robot has been catapulted to a new level without losing any of the tried and tested details. All this progress results in a powerful cleaning performance that we have never seen before.
A particular advantage is that the pool robot is designed for both floor and wall cleaning and also floats through the pool like a skimmer. In essence, it is a combination of the Beatbot iSkim Ultra and the AquaSense of the original generation – with a few special extras, of course. Gone are the days when you needed your own robot or even had to do it yourself. But that’s not all: Beatbot has come up with a whole host of other details for this model that make pool maintenance a whole lot more convenient than comparable pool robots. Be it the status announcements via the integrated loudspeaker, the AI quick mode for spontaneous pool fun without waiting time or the automatic residual water emptying.
On the other hand, there are also aspects that could be improved. For example, the fiddly clamping of the side brushes seems out of place considering the price. By way of comparison, the Beatbot iSkim Ultra has the side brushes fitted ex works, which eliminates this step. The pool robot’s skimmer mode also seems to take some getting used to, especially with regard to the circular pool. The very fact of heading directly towards the wall at high speed or briefly pushing against it in order to then correct course is therefore contradictory. Beatbot should at least look into this issue and provide a firmware update in the near future to remedy the situation.
A luxury that doesn’t pay off for everyone?
The main argument against the Beatbot AquaSense 2 Ultra is its price. At currently over €3,000, the pool robot is anything but a bargain and hardly affordable for most pool owners. Ultimately, such a purchase decision must always be in proportion to the benefits: With an above-ground pool costing a few hundred euros, the investment is of course not worth it anyway. Rather, the AquaSense 2 Ultra is aimed at owners of larger, stationary pools, for example GRP prefabricated pools or models with steel or stainless steel walls. That would be the initial investment costs, with the pool alone costing at least €20,000.
Final words
The Beatbot AquaSense 2 Ultra shows what technical progress in the field of pool cleaning already makes possible today. In our opinion, it is rightly the new reference in the premium segment, although it will certainly not appeal to all pool owners due to its price. Anyone who decides to buy it will probably be happy with the pool robot – provided their pool is not too small. And thanks to the dust bag supplied, the pool robot will survive the frosty season without any worries.
- Outstanding cleaning result
