Creative Aurvana Ace 2 – Scope of delivery, design and workmanship
- Usual, complete accessories
- Attractive colors
- Convincing workmanship
The Aurvana Ace 2 true wireless earphones come in a compact cardboard box. This is filled with the usual accessories – charging case, USB-C to USB-A charging cable, silicone earbuds in various sizes and instructions.
When you open the box and take a look at the contents, the first thing you notice is the choice of color. The charging case is a mix of transparent black and shiny copper. The earphones themselves are predominantly black, with a small copper accent on the back.
On the underside of the charging case you will find the USB-C charging port and a button that can be used to pair the earbuds. As an alternative to the USB-C port, the case can also be charged wirelessly using the Qi standard.
Creative Aurvana Ace 2 – Wearing comfort
- Very light weight
- Different sizes of silicone earbuds
- Comfortable fit
Thanks to the low weight of around 4.7 grams per earbud, wearing the earphones is hardly noticeable. In addition, the fit is very comfortable – at least for our ears. Thanks to the different sizes of the silicone earbuds and a harmonious shape, they have a firm hold in the ear and even sports, such as jogging, did not present any problems in our test.
Everyday test – operation, app and ANC
- Clear app
- Operation via touch on earphones possible, somewhat slow
- ANC somewhat weak
To get a feel for the Aurvana Ace 2, we used them for some time in everyday use – including all the features that seemed useful when needed.
As soon as you take the earbuds out of the case, they connect via Bluetooth. When using them for the first time, a simple connection via smartphone settings is sufficient. There were no problems here and everyday pairing and unpairing went smoothly.
The app is simple, but contains all the necessary settings. In addition to an equalizer with several presets, or freely adjustable, you can activate the ANC or ambient mode, update the firmware and adjust the functions that are controlled by double, triple or long taps. You can also see the battery status of the earbuds – but unfortunately not that of the charging case. However, after adjusting the equalizer and checking the firmware, we no longer needed the app, the ANC mode is announced by voice and tapping on the earbuds to navigate works very well.
Noise-canceling does its job in everyday life. Noise from passing cars is filtered out for the most part, but there are some weaknesses with deeper noise such as construction sites. Unfortunately, no further adjustment is possible here, you have to live with the predefined ANC mode. The noise is attenuated for many noises, but unfortunately you can’t speak of complete canceling. Fortunately, the reproduced sound is hardly distorted or not distorted at all. We would rate the ambient mode as good to very good – for example, you can have a conversation without any problems even without removing the earphones.
Overall, the only rather negative point is the battery life. The stated 6 hours without charging in the case is realistic, but some of the competition can achieve significantly more.
Audio quality – how do the Creative Aurvana Ace 2 sound?
- Convincingly neutral sound
- Adjustment via equalizer possible – plenty of scope for bass
- functional microphone
Let’s move on to what is probably the most important aspect of the earbuds: the sound. By default, without an equalizer, the Creative Aurvana Ace 2 are very neutrally tuned. This is positively surprising – with the two-driver system, we would have expected the dedicated mid and bass drivers to bring the lower regions to the fore.
In contrast to the neutral, “studio-like” sound, you can experiment with the equalizer yourself. It is noticeable here that the second driver leaves massive reserves in the bass range, so you can turn up the bass quite a bit if you like it. The combination of AptX Lossless and the driver system results in very clear mid and high tones, instruments come out clearly.
Especially for wireless in-ears, the Aurvana Ace 2 are completely convincing in terms of sound. Of course, voices during phone calls and similar topics are also no problem. Regarding phone calls – the microphone is also usable. Of course, you can never expect a perfect microphone sound from in-ears, but it is perfectly acceptable for phone calls and no problems were noticed in everyday use.
Creative Aurvana Ace 2 – Conclusion
To summarize: With the Aurvana Ace 2, you get in-ears with strong sound, mediocre noise-canceling and slightly below-average battery life. The design is appealing and the wearing comfort is good to very good.
To classify it overall, you definitely have to consider the price. For the RRP of around €180, there are wireless in-ear earphones that have fewer weaknesses; if you catch the Aurvana Ace 2 on offer, at times they were available for €80 in Creative’s own store, you get a sound that is unparalleled in this price range.
The Aurvana Ace 2 are definitely worth a recommendation. If you can live with small compromises in terms of ANC and battery life, you won’t be disappointed!
