Dreame FP10 in test: Fresh air for pet owners

With the FP10, Dreame has an air purifier on offer that is specifically tailored to the needs of pet owners. While many classic models primarily filter fine dust and pollen, the FP10 goes one step further: it combines air purification with active hair absorption and automatic self-cleaning. But how convincing is this concept in everyday use?

Design and first impression of the Dreame FP10

Visually, the Dreame FP10 clearly stands out from classic air purifiers. While the competition often comes across as a visual disruptive factor and therefore has to be placed in corners where it is as unseen as possible, the Dreame FP10 is a pleasure to show off. It has been designed in such a way that it can easily be placed as a visible element in the middle of the living room. After all, it is more reminiscent of a modern piece of furniture than a household appliance. The cylindrical shape looks elegant and minimalist without being playful.

The air purifier comes with a power supply unit and operating instructions

Dreame relies on clear lines, a matt surface and subtle transitions. This ensures a high-quality overall impression. The flat top side covered with an elegant mesh is particularly practical. This is not only visually appealing, but can also be used functionally. For example, a smartphone, remote control or book can be stored here. Another design element is the integrated ambient lighting. This not only fulfills an aesthetic purpose, but also serves as visual feedback for the air quality.

The top can be used as a practical shelf

The color changes depending on its status, allowing users to see at a glance how clean the room air is. This combination of function and design is well implemented and is neither intrusive nor overloaded. The controls are also well integrated. Instead of many visible buttons, Dreame relies on a minimalist interface with clearly structured displays. This supports the uncluttered look and makes operation intuitive. In terms of workmanship, the Dreame FP10 leaves a very good impression.

The control unit is self-explanatory

The materials appear robust and durable, the gaps are even and there are no noticeable weak points. Overall, the device conveys a certain sense of value, which is to be expected given the high price. However, the design also has practical limitations. Due to its size of 370 × 370 × 620 mm and the relatively high weight of 8.8 kg, the FP10 is less flexible than more compact air purifiers. It is therefore more suitable for a fixed location in the room than for frequent movement between different areas.

DREAME FP10

This can quickly become a disadvantage, especially in smaller homes. If you want to make the air purifier disappear when you’ve finished your work or have it work in another room, you should bear this in mind. All in all, however, the design of the Dreame FP10 is one of its greatest strengths. Dreame has succeeded in designing a technical device in such a way that it does not have to be hidden away, but can become an active part of the interior. Anyone who values aesthetics and is not looking for a purely functional solution should see clear added value here.

Technical concept: More than just an air purifier

The FP10 takes an unusual approach. Instead of relying solely on filters, Dreame has opted for a hybrid system. This is made up of the following elements:

  • Self-cleaning roller (Active Roller): Actively picks up hair and prevents blockages
  • Four-stage HEPA filtration: removes up to 99.97% of particles from the air
  • Activated carbon and chemical layers: Effectively neutralize odours
  • LoopBoos technology: Accelerates air circulation in the room

The mechanical pre-filter is particularly interesting. This uses a rotating brush that collects animal hair before it can even reach the main filter. This ensures that the filter performance remains stable for longer and consequently reduces blockages.

Dreame FP10 focuses on pet households

The FP10 is clearly designed for households with pets. This is reflected not only in the technology, but also in the practical effect. A key advantage is the active absorption of pet hair from the air. And I can already confirm this after a week of testing. As the owner of a dog and two cats, I have to deal with a lot of animal hair every day. It’s not always possible to remove this with a vacuum cleaner, as much of it simply circulates in the air.

The FP10 is primarily aimed at pet households

After my practical test, however, I noticed that there was noticeably less hair on the floor when I reached for the vacuum cleaner. This indicates that the air purifier actually catches hair before it settles on furniture and floors.
The appliance also proves its strength when it comes to odors. Thanks to activated carbon and chemical neutralization, typical animal odours are noticeably reduced. Although the air is not perfumed, it is fresher and odors are less noticeable.

Performance of the Dreame FP10 in everyday life

In day-to-day operation, the FP10 impresses above all with its continuous work. Unlike a vacuum cleaner, it does not deliver immediately visible results, but improves the air quality step by step. The LoopBoost technology ensures rapid air circulation. This power can definitely be felt. In standard operation, the FP10 can be heard as a quiet background noise. This naturally increases when operating at higher levels. However, I didn’t find the whole thing particularly annoying. If you want it to be particularly quiet, switch to night mode. Here, the device not only works more quietly, but the lighting also switches off.

DREAME FP10

Alternatively, there is also a pet mode that specifically sucks up hair and an AI mode that analyzes the air pollution and then cleans accordingly. The results are definitely impressive. The air quality in my living room improved quite quickly and I found noticeably less pet hair on the floor. Hair and coarse particles are collected separately. This ensures longer efficiency compared to many other conventional air purifiers, which quickly suffer from clogged filters and consequently suffer from a drop in performance.

Smart features and operation of the Dreame FP10

The Dreame FP10 can be controlled both directly on the device and via the app. The Dreame app comes with the usual good overview. The functions include:

  • Real-time display of the air quality
  • Automatic adjustment of performance
  • Schedules and remote control
  • Display of indoor and outdoor air values

In practice, the app is optional rather than essential. After all, the FP10 can also be easily controlled on the device itself. However, it is of course an exciting gimmick and also a gain in convenience to be able to control and monitor the device remotely via the app. So everyone can decide for themselves which operating method is more appealing.

Uncomplicated maintenance

A major advantage of the FP10 is its low maintenance requirements. The self-cleaning roller and the separation of hair and filter are designed to ensure that:

  • Less manual cleaning is required
  • Filters last longer
  • there is hardly any consumable material

Dreame even goes so far as to assure you that regular filter cleaning, let alone filter replacement, should not be necessary. In everyday life, this means one thing above all for you as a user: less effort. This is a clear advantage over conventional air purifiers, where filters have to be cleaned or replaced regularly.

For whom is the Dreame FP10 worthwhile?

The FP10 is clearly aimed at a specific target group:

  • Households with cats and/or dogs
  • Allergy sufferers who react to animal hair
  • Users who want to ensure better indoor air

Conclusion

The Dreame FP10 is no ordinary air purifier, but a clearly specialized device that specifically addresses the challenges of pet households. Instead of relying exclusively on classic filter technology, it combines innovative approaches such as active hair absorption by a self-cleaning roller with powerful HEPA and odor filtration. Everyday use shows that this concept actually works: Pet hair is noticeably reduced, odours are effectively neutralized and the air quality continuously improves. And it also looks really smart compared to many competing products.

DREAME FP10

At the same time, the FP10 is not a device for everyone. The comparatively high price and size could be a deterrent for some users. In addition, the air purifier unfolds its full potential primarily in households with animals – those without allergies or animal hair problems may not be able to fully exploit the added value. Nevertheless, with the FP10, Dreame shows how air purification can be further developed in a targeted manner. For pet owners looking for a convenient and innovative solution, the device is a convincing option that makes a noticeable improvement in everyday life.
