Dreame L10s Ultra review: Upper class at a fair price?

In the meantime, robotic vacuum cleaners have revolutionized many households. The weekly swinging of the classic vacuum cleaner is now a thing of the past for some people. After all, little smart helpers automatically vacuum up dust and dirt every day. With the introduction of suction stations, many manufacturers have now perfected their devices once again in terms of convenience. Dreame is of course one of them. The Chinese company already proved to us with the Dreame W10 Pro (test) and Dreame D10 Plus (test) that they know how to manufacture a vacuum robot with a practical base station in both the mid-range and the upper class. The Dreame L10s Ultra is now the manufacturer’s latest flagship. This one wants to bring along a packed feature set at a comparatively fair price. Does the plan work out? You can read about it in our Dreame L10s Ultra review.

Scope of delivery

dreame L10s Ultra Test

The fact that the Dreame L10s Ultra is not a compact household helper becomes clear just by looking at the large-sized packaging. However, it is not the robot vacuum cleaner itself that takes up a lot of space. Rather, the base makes itself particularly thick here. In addition to the two essential components, the scope of delivery also includes a power cord, cleaning brush, vacuum cleaner bag, cleaning agent and the usual paperwork.

Dreame L10s Ultra review: classy white meets high-quality workmanship

  • High build quality
  • classic design
  • Main brush fully rubberized
  • Two wiping pads on the bottom

Let’s start with the robot vacuum itself. This one comes in a classy white and makes a very good impression at first glance. This is also confirmed once you put your hands on it. It does not creak at any point. In terms of workmanship, it quickly becomes clear that this is a high-quality piece of technology. The design is clearly based on other models available on the market. Dreame relies on a circular design and places a small turret on the upper side, which hides the LiDAR technology. Furthermore, an RGB camera on the front is supposed to provide very good orientation.

dreame L10s Ultra Test

A look at the underside delighted me greatly. Unlike the Ecovacs Deebot X1 OMNI we recently tested (test), Dreame relies on a main brush made entirely of rubber for its new flagship. The Roborock S7 (test) has already proven what advantages this brings, especially for pet owners. By dispensing with classic bristles, the brush, which is made entirely of silicone, should be more durable. Apart from that, hair should hardly get tangled here and a better vacuum can be created towards the floor. Whether the plan works out, we clarify in the practical test.

Since the dreame L10s offers a wipe function, you will naturally find a corresponding device on the bottom. However, this is not just a conventional wiping plate. Instead, two wiping pads are used. Their circular look is reminiscent of the Ecovacs Deebot X1 and they also rotate during the wiping process. Thanks to magnetic attachment, they can be easily mounted and removed again.

Base station with multiple functions

  • Multi-function station
  • Two water tanks with 2.5 liters each
  • Vacuum bag with 3 liters capacity

A highlight is of course the station, which gives the set the nickname Ultra. This measures not without reason 423 x 340 x 568 mm and weighs 8.9 kg. Under the hood slumber namely practical features, but again reminiscent of the Deebot X1 OMNI. Thus, the base not only vacuums the collected dust from the smart household helper.

Underneath the lid are dirt and fresh water tanks, each with a capacity of 2.5 l.

On top of that, it cleans the two wiping pads on the bottom after each wipe. In the process, the two wiping pads are rinsed through and then dried using hot air. The resulting dirty water then ends up in the station’s dirty water tank. It also supplies the robot vacuum with fresh water, which lies dormant in the base’s other water tank.

The vacuum cleaner bag holds 3 liters and must be replaced afterwards. This is not really sustainable.

A downer is unfortunately also here the return to the vacuum cleaner bag. As is now common practice with the Deebot X1 OMNI and many suction stations from other manufacturers, the L10s Ultra again relies on a vacuum bag that holds 3 liters of waste. This may be hygienic, but unfortunately it is not really sustainable.

Maximum ease of use thanks to suitable app

Essential inputs are possible via the robot vacuum itself or the suction station. However, if you want to get the maximum features and ease of use out of the smart household helper, you should get the right app. As a Xiaomi subsidiary, Dreame offers you the choice between “Xiaomi Home” and “Dreamehome”. I decided to use the former for the test. The setup was quick and uncomplicated. The settings options also convinced me. Not only can you regulate detailed cleaning settings, such as suction power or the amount of water used for mopping. On top of that, routines can be created here that enable automatic cleaning on a daily basis. After the first run, the L10s Ultra of course first records your spatial circumstances.

In the resulting map, you can also release no-go areas or targeted areas for cleaning. You can also view these in 3D, by the way. Fun gimmick! Another really cool feature is that you can set special cleaning options for each room. For example, you can choose a high water flow rate for rooms with tiles, but less water for wooden floors. By the way, the automatic carpet detection can also be turned on and off via the app. Here, the L10s Ultra automatically raises its mop pads when it passes a carpet and increases the suction power at the same time. Of course, control via voice assistants is particularly convenient. Here, the classics in the form of Google, Alexa and Siri are possible.

Dreame L10s Ultra test: navigation capability at the highest level

  • LiDAR sensor
  • RGB camera
  • Artificial intelligence enhances navigation

It’s amazing what has happened in terms of navigation technology in robot vacuums in recent years. The Dreame L10s Ultra also delivers a great job here. Thus, it is already noticeable when driving the smart household helper that it drives very carefully and precisely through the apartment. This is not by chance. The Chinese company relies on a combination of laser technology, RGB camera and artificial intelligence.

The LiDAR sensor is enthroned on top.

The laser navigation is enthroned as a LiDAR sensor in the small turret on the top and provides orientation even in the deepest darkness. The RGB camera on the front always keeps an eye out so that the L10s can detect even small obstacles on the ground. Even small LEGO bricks were recognized and avoided in the test. The AI then makes itself felt after a few drives.

The AI action camera even recognizes flat objects as obstacles.

This way, the L10s gets faster and gets to know your apartment better and better. Of course, the vacuum robot also has the usual fall sensors, which should especially please homeowners with stairs. In the test, I always had the feeling that the L10s knows exactly where it wants to go. The navigation technology is thus among the most modern on the entire robot vacuum market.

The suction performance

  • Great suction results
  • Wiping unit is automatically lifted for carpet

In the practical test, we want to first of all look at how the Dreame L10s Ultra does when vacuuming. The smart household helper was able to transfer its suction power of a proud 5,300 pascals to the floor with correspondingly good cleaning results. It doesn’t matter whether the floor is wood, carpet or stone.

Dreame L10s Ultra Test
The carpet detection worked very well in the test.

I found the carpet detection in particular to be extremely practical. Unlike the Ecovacs Deebot X1, the Dreame can lift its wiping pads automatically. This means that you do not have to program a separate vacuuming and wiping cycle, but can have both done at the same time. The standard mode was completely sufficient in my apartment. Here, the L10s Ultra works with 59 dB pleasantly quiet.

The wiping performance

  • two wiping pads magnetically attached
  • Clean in base

With the two wiping pads gets the good suction performance still a icing on the cake missed. Thus, the two rotating wiping pads deliver a far better performance than the usual wiping plates of other manufacturers. Due to the rotating movement, the wiping performance comes closest to that of a classic mop. This can also be seen from the very good results.

The mop pads can be conveniently mounted and removed by magnet

Since the robot vacuum automatically lifts its pads when carpeting is present, there is no need to worry about a wet carpet in the process. Unlike many other robot vacuum manufacturers, Dreame explicitly recommends the use of cleaning fluid. The manufacturer also includes the appropriate liquid directly with the L10s Ultra. You just have to insert the cartridge into the base station.

Now this automatically drips some of it into the fresh water every time. So the mop pads are not only moistened during each cleaning session, but promise even better results thanks to detergent. After the first cleaning tour, I was really flabbergasted. After all, I didn’t think that the great wiping results of the Deebot X1 could be topped.

Dreame L10s Ultra review: conclusion

Not only in terms of price, but also in terms of features, the Dreame L10s Ultra is undoubtedly in the flagship segment. However, the price is by no means set too high. Quite the contrary. If you take a look at the countless features offered by the robot vacuum itself, but also by the base station, you can hardly do better in terms of value for money at the moment.

In addition to an excellent suction performance, it is mainly the wiping performance that fully convinced in the test. The fully automatic operation that the Dreame L10s Ultra offers thanks to the matching suction station also ensures maximum convenience. At a price of 1,199 euros, there is currently no comparable vacuum robot on the market.
