Fans without rotating blades are no longer a niche product – and yet the concept has so far mainly established itself in the high-price segment. Dreame, known for its vacuum and mopping robots, is now entering this market with the MF10 and promises a combination of clever technology, smart home integration and a design that can also be seen in the living room. We took a closer look at the fan.
Design and workmanship of the Dreame MF10
Anyone setting up the MF10 for the first time will notice that Dreame takes aesthetics seriously. The fan completely dispenses with visible rotor blades and instead presents two semi-circular air outlets, which together form the so-called HarmonyRing.
This is a unit made up of two semicircles, which gives the appliance an almost sculptural appearance. At first glance, I was subtly reminded of the Tie Fighters from Star Wars. Thanks to the plug-in connections and clip fasteners, it can be assembled in three steps and without tools, which is particularly practical when changing the season.
A heavy rubberized metal base ensures a stable stand that is also convincing on smooth floors. The color is also impressive. Dreame has opted for a subtle bronze shade that blends discreetly into various living styles. Overall, the workmanship makes a really great impression.
GyroWing technology
The heart of the MF10 is the in-house GyroWing technology. The two air outlets can be swiveled vertically by up to 90 degrees independently of each other and , according to the manufacturer, achieve a spatial air swirl of up to 270 degrees – provided the two blades are perpendicular to each other. In combination with the horizontal 180-degree rotation of the entire device, this results in a three-dimensional air distribution that classic pedestal or table fans simply cannot achieve.
The so-called VectorOrbit system ensures that each of the two GyroWings follows its own independent path of movement. In addition, there is the AirBoost technology: the fan draws in ambient air at the outlet and thus increases the volume flow – up to 16 times the actual outlet flow value, according to the manufacturer.
The basic air volume flow at the outlet is around 62 CFM; with AirBoost, up to 989 CFM can be achieved. Whether these figures can be fully verified in everyday use can only be assessed with measuring instruments; subjectively, however, the MF10 provides a noticeably even and gentle air movement without the unpleasant direct blowing effect of conventional fans.
Performance and modes of the Dreame MF10
The MF10 offers a total of ten speed levels and three airflow modes, which are designed for different usage scenarios – from a gentle breeze for bedtime to more powerful cooling on hot summer days. The TempSync function is particularly interesting: an integrated temperature sensor continuously records the room temperature and automatically adjusts the fan’s performance when activated via the app, without the need for manual intervention.
This is intended to ensure a uniform, natural room climate around the clock. This is complemented by the SceneMaster system, which allows preset functions to be activated on a time-controlled or temperature-dependent basis – such as a softer level when falling asleep or a higher output as soon as the room temperature exceeds a certain threshold. Energy consumption is also a reason to be pleased: when operating at levels 1 to 3, the device is said to consume only between 0.12 and 0.15 kWh. This makes the MF10 justifiable as a continuous runner in the office or bedroom.
Control and smart home integration
When it comes to operation, Dreame leaves nothing to be desired. There are a total of four control options to choose from: an LED touch display directly on the device, a magnetic remote control, the Dreamehome app and voice assistants. The display shows the current operating status in real time and can be completely deactivated for undisturbed sleep.
The magnetic remote control is a practical detail – it can be attached directly to the device and is therefore always to hand without disappearing into the depths of the sofa. The MF10 can be conveniently controlled and monitored remotely via the Dreamehome app.
If you want to integrate the fan into your existing smart home system, it is compatible with Google Home and Amazon Alexa – voice commands work without detours. A child safety lock prevents accidental operation and, according to the manufacturer, an eight-stage safety system should ensure operational safety even during long periods of use.
Safety and care of the Dreame MF10
The most striking advantage of the bladeless design is obvious: as there are no rapidly rotating blades involved, there is no risk of injury from conventional fans, especially for children and pets. The MF10 is therefore much more suitable for everyday use in family households.
Another positive side effect: without classic blades, significantly less dust collects on the exposed surfaces, which makes cleaning easier. Dreame has also installed a removable and washable pre-filter at the air inlet, which catches hair, dust and larger dirt particles and thus ensures a cleaner air flow. The Dreamehome app also reminds you to clean or replace the filter if necessary.
