Ecovacs Deebot T10 Plus Test: New mid-range king?

The T-series from Ecovacs has always stood for solid performance for a small price. We were able to convince ourselves of this in June when we tested the Deebot T9 AIVI (test), the update of last year’s version. Now comes the T10 models, the latest generation of vacuum robots with great value for money. In the Ecovacs Deebot T10 Plus test, we want to take a closer look at one of the family newcomers.

Ecovacs is setting itself up broadly

Only recently, we were able to take a closer look at the Ecovacs Deebot X1 Omni (test), the latest flagship of the expert for smart household helpers. This one convinced us especially with its chic design and great mopping performance. Apart from the high-end model, Ecovacs also remains true to its roots. And these are in the entry-level and mid-range.

In any case, the new T10 series is considered to be the upper middle class. This is available in three different versions. On the one hand, you can buy the basic model in the form of the T10. Alternatively, there are two versions with a practical suction station, the T10 Plus and the T10 Turbo, which we tested. The latter offers a fresh water supply through the base station in addition to the rotating wiping pads familiar from X1.

In addition to the robot vacuum and suction station, the large package also contains the two side brushes, a wipe, two disposable wipes, a cleaning tool, and the usual paperwork in the form of warranty and user manual.

Ecovac’s Deebot T10 Plus review: design and finish

  • High build quality
  • Maintenance flap completely removable
  • Height over 10 cm

In terms of looks, the Deebot T10 Plus does not reinvent the wheel. Rather, we discover clear parallels to the large-format Deebot X1, especially in terms of size. This is not only true for the vacuum robot itself, which relies on the classic round format and houses its LiDAR sensors under the usual turret.

Even the suction station, which gives the model the name addition “Plus”, shows clear borrowings after all. Unlike the pure suction stations from other manufacturers, such as the Dreame D10 Plus (test), Ecovacs also goes significantly wider here. The maintenance flap of the T10 has also changed and is reminiscent of that of the X1.

So instead of folding them up, you take them off completely. While this works very well thanks to the magnetic attachment, it somehow doesn’t feel high quality to me and also a bit impractical. I am curious where the trend will go here. What you find under the cover, on the other hand, is classic. In addition to the on/off switch, the dust bin is also located here.

In height, the Deebot T10 measures about over 100 mm. Owners of furniture with a flat distance to the floor should definitely keep this in mind. In the test, I unfortunately found that the smart household helper did not fit under my couch, nor under the shoe cabinet. That was a bit annoying.

Old-fashioned main brush

  • Main brush relies on combo of bristles and rubber
  • Two side brushes
  • Removable wiping unit

If you turn the vacuum robot around, the similarities with the X1 do not ebb. So you get here also two side brushes, which are dirt in the corners to fight and the garbage targeted to the central suction unit. The whole thing is then sucked in with the help of the main brush.

Unfortunately, Ecovacs also relies on a combination of rubber blades and classic bristles for the T10. Yet the Roborock S7 (test) has proven that a main brush made entirely of silicone or rubber has many advantages. Pet owners, in particular, should keep in mind that the bristles need to be cleaned regularly.

What you find under the cover, on the other hand, is classic. In addition to the On/Off switch, the dust bin is also located here.
Unfortunately, Ecovacs does not use a main brush that is made entirely of rubber.

After all, pet hair gets caught here much faster than in the rubber elements. A look at the back again reveals the water tank. This can be conveniently installed and removed here. At the front, the in-house AIVI camera system can hardly be overlooked. This is supposed to be able to detect even flat obstacles on the floor.

Ecovacs Deebot T10 Plus review: operation with ECOVACS HOME

Over time, the operation of robotic vacuum cleaners by smartphone has become popular. Given the practical mapping functions and masses of new features, one can understand this. It is therefore not surprising that the T10 Plus can also be conveniently controlled with the in-house ECOVACS HOME app. And this operation turned out to be the most convenient in the test. Of course, you can also use the button on the robot itself. But then you have to live with only having rudimentary setting options. The setup via app is uncomplicated. All you have to do is follow the instructions in the smartphone application.

Once you’re done with the setup, the app scores with self-explanatory setting options. So you can regulate the suction level and water flow rate here. On top of that, you can play around in the map and define targeted cleaning areas or no-go areas for the vacuum. Automatic cleaning schedules are particularly practical. You can specify that the vacuum cleaner should start its cleaning tour every day at a certain time.

The app takes you by the hand during setup

.

As with the Deebot X1 OMNI, the in-house voice assistant YIKO is also at work in the Deebot T10 Plus. This also enables targeted cleaning via voice control. For example, you can control certain rooms or previously named cleaning areas, such as under the dining table. Alternatively, you can also control the robot vacuum with the usual services like Google Assistant or Amazon Alexa. A feature not to be sneezed at is the possibility of using it as a walking security camera. Thus, the AIVI camera unit provides real-time image transmission via the app.

Targeted navigation

  • Navigation using AIVI 3.0 and LiDAR sensor

As with the X1 OMNI, there’s nothing to complain about with the T10 Plus when it comes to navigation. It is simply noticeable that the combination of LiDAR sensors on the device and a high-quality camera on the front provides the best overview. Thanks to laser navigation, the Deebot T10 Plus can find its way around even the darkest corners of your home. With the help of the AIVI camera, the smart household helper not only reliably recognized every piece of furniture. On top of that, it even avoided small obstacles that I placed on the floor.

Even LEGO bricks posed no challenge for him. However, you should still be careful not to put things that are too flat on the floor. After all, there is still the risk that threads or thin cables are overlooked and unceremoniously “eaten” by the robot. The very good orientation then also results in a short cleaning time. Round after round, the T10 Plus gets to know its surroundings better and draws its circles all the faster, but by no means inaccurately.

Ecovacs Deebot T10 Plus test: the suction performance

  • Automatic carpet detection
  • Crumbs sometimes remain lying

In terms of suction performance, the Ecovacs Deebot T10 Plus delivered a good performance. However, it does not come close to the excellent results of its big brother in the form of the X1 OMNI. Thus, as a cat owner, I unfortunately have to state that leftover cat litter was not transported to the suction unit to a large extent.

The T10 Plus automatically detects carpet. With the mop plate installed, it bypasses them. Without, in turn, it increases the suction level.

Instead, the two side brushes transported many grains crisscross through the apartment. Perhaps only one side brush would have been more sensible here! However, this is complaining on a high level and by no means a leg-break. After all, you can simply let the T10 Plus do another tour if necessary or send it to rooms with leftovers.

The station vacuums up the collected dust at the corresponding flap.

On a daily run, the smart household helper should provide cleanliness not only on hardwood and stone floors. The result it left on my long pile carpet also put me in a positive mood. The carpet detection, which automatically sets a higher suction level in motion, worked flawlessly in this case.

The mopping performance

  • Wiping unit unfortunately can not be lifted
  • Ozmo Pro 3.0 provides good wiping results

The Deebot T10 Plus is a hybrid model. Will mean that the vacuum robot can not only vacuum, but also wipe. Its in-house wiping technology Ecovacs calls Ozmo Pro 3.0, which has light, but also dark sides. The test showed that the manufacturer has significantly revised its technology. The wipe now shakes up and down with 600 movements per minute. This is supposed to simulate a natural wiping motion. The results were definitely better than models that rely on a rigid wiping cloth at the bottom.

In addition to the wiping unit, a kind of “wiping dummy” can also be inserted

However, the results do not come close to those of the X1 OMNI with its two rotating wiping pads. So those who place a high value on wiping performance should rather take a look at the Deebot T10 Turbo. This also relies on the two rotating wiping pads. However, the X1, T10 Plus and T10 Turbo have one problem in common – they do not have a liftable wiping unit. This means that unlike the Roborock S7, for example, the robot vacuum will not drive over carpeted floors when the mopping unit is installed. Only if you remove it, the carpet is not ignored during cleaning tours. Very impractical! This is a major shortcoming that Ecovacs should definitely revise in upcoming models.

The suction station provides great convenience

  • Vacuum cleaner bag with 3 liter capacity
  • Bag unfortunately must be disposed of, which is not sustainable

In terms of endurance, by the way, you can not complain with the Deebot T10 Plus. Thus, the smart helper should be able to last up to 180 minutes according to the manufacturer. In the test, he was able to almost reach these manufacturer specifications on the lowest level. The robot’s suction station is supposed to provide maximum convenience.

A look inside shows the vacuum bag.

This takes care of the collected debris by sucking it out of the robot vacuum without further ado. Unfortunately, the T10 Plus also relies on classic vacuum bags for this. This is a sad trend among vacuum stations from all manufacturers and unfortunately does not have much to do with sustainability. After all, you have to dispose of the bags when they are full.

Ecovacs Deebot T10 Plus review: conclusion

With a price of about 900 euros, you get a good vacuum robot with the Ecovacs Deebot T10 Plus. Thus, it scores not only with a chic design and great workmanship. On top of that, the app and the YIKO voice control offer a high operating comfort. The navigation capability is also really impressive. The combination of LiDAR sensor and AIVI camera really pays off. The latter is only a bit overwhelmed with all-too-small obstacles and sometimes overlooks them.

ecovacs deebot t10 plus test

However, the smart household helper also has its weaknesses. Unfortunately, these concern the suction performance. The vacuum cleaner left one or two crumbs lying around in the test, which is why it is sometimes better to let it run twice. The wiping performance, on the other hand, is very good. The only drawback is that the T10 Plus cannot lift its wiping unit, which is particularly annoying in apartments with a lot of carpeting. If the manufacturer does not rectify this shortcoming in future generations, the competition threatens to rush away.

86/100

The Ecovacs Deebot T10 Plus is a good vacuum robot with minimal weak points.
