Eufy, known as the smart-home brand of Chinese electronics giant Anker, now offers several models that aim to impress with more than just their mowing performance. On top of that, they promise a breeze to set up and are very user-friendly. And the rest of the tech is on point, too—at least according to the spec sheet. The Eufy E15 relies entirely on camera-based navigation without an RTK antenna and without any wires buried in the ground. The E15 is designed for lawns up to 800 m² and is aimed at users who want as little installation effort as possible while maximizing automation. We’ve tested the robot extensively and will reveal whether the concept holds up in practice.

Design and Build Quality of the eufy E15
Compared to traditional robotic mowers, the eufy E15 immediately stands out due to its unusual silhouette. The body is relatively tall because the stereo 3D cameras and the AI camera are positioned higher up to ensure the best possible all-around view of the surroundings. Visually, the device clearly resembles the other robotic lawn mowers from eufy.
Of course, this design is a matter of taste, but since the shape is clearly based on functional logic, it’s unlikely to bother anyone. In terms of quality, there’s hardly anything to complain about. The plastic housing feels solidly built and high-quality; nothing creaks, squeaks, or wobbles. Weighing in at around 12.5 kg, the E15 isn’t exactly a lightweight, but it falls within the typical weight range for devices in this class.
Thanks to the convenient carrying handle, you can easily carry the eufy from one place to another. The IPX6 protection rating means the device is protected against even powerful water jets—so using it in the rain is no problem, although the built-in rain sensor automatically calls the robot back to the charging station when it actually starts raining. There are four buttons on the top: Start/Pause, Return Home, Stop, and a power button.
Several LED indicators on the top show the battery level. There is no display—eufy has deliberately opted for app-based control. A main switch and the cutting deck are located on the underside. The blades can be replaced without tools, which makes maintenance pleasantly simple. The charging dock also impresses with its solid build quality, and the practical dock roof protects both the station and the robot year-round.
Setup and Commissioning of the eufy E15
One of the biggest advantages of the eufy E15 over traditional robotic mowers is how incredibly easy it is to set up. While laying boundary wires for conventional models can easily take half a day, the E15 is ready to go in just a few minutes, according to eufy. This is confirmed in practice: You attach the charging station to the ground, connect it to the power cable, place the robot in the station, and download the eufy app.
Next, connect the robot to the Wi-Fi network, install a firmware update if necessary, and then start the automatic mapping process. Once everything is set up, the E15 maps the lawn completely autonomously. The navigation system uses green grass as a reference map: shrubs, flower beds, gravel paths, and other areas are automatically recognized as boundaries.
For my area of about 100 m², the initial mapping took about 25 minutes. Afterward, you can make manual adjustments to the map. For example, you can designate areas that were skipped or not identified as lawn as mandatory zones. The same applies, of course, to restricted zones. Incidentally, there is no RC mode for manual mapping here—similar to vacuum robots, the mapping process is exclusively fully automatic.
eufy App
The eufy app is the central control hub for the E15 and stands out for its well-structured, intuitive layout. Right from the start, the app guides users step by step through setup and mapping—even those with no experience with robotic mowers can quickly find their way around. During operation, the app offers a wide range of settings.
The cutting height can be adjusted in 5-mm increments from 25 to 75 mm using a slider, as can the travel speed and blade speed. Mowing zones and restricted areas (no-go zones and must-go zones) can be easily marked directly on the map. Complete weekly schedules with different zones for different days of the week are also possible.
Especially handy: You can access the robotic mower’s camera to get a live view from the robot’s perspective. This isn’t just useful for assessing the current condition of the lawn, but also for stepping in if the robot gets confused—because the app also offers a remote control feature that lets you manually navigate the E15.
Alternatively, this feature turns the Robo into a mobile garden security camera. For gardens without full Wi-Fi coverage, eufy offers an optional 4G data plan that ensures a stable connection even in outlying areas. The built-in GPS tracker can also be accessed via the app and serves as theft protection. OTA updates automatically install new features and improvements.
Navigation and Obstacle Detection
At the heart of the eufy E15 is the TrueVision camera system. It uses a stereo 3D camera for depth sensing and a separate AI camera for semantic object recognition. Thanks to this combination, the system operates entirely without boundary wires, an RTK antenna, radar, or LiDAR—a remarkable approach for this price range.
In well-organized gardens with clear boundaries, autonomous mapping works very reliably. The robot mows in even, parallel paths and leaves behind a neat striped pattern. The obstacle detection system works with impressive precision in everyday use: toys, patio furniture, planters, and even pets are reliably detected and avoided. Smart-Edge mowing enables precise edge trimming.
The robot automatically checks whether it can safely navigate around edges and obstacles and approaches boundaries accordingly. In practice, narrow strips may occasionally remain uncut along the very outer edges, but this is almost always the case with camera-based systems that do not use wire guidance. In such cases, it’s worth adjusting the map in the app afterward. Boundary issues are most likely to occur in gardens with complex layouts.

When the eufy E15 is navigating gardens with a rather winding layout, I can imagine that the camera-based mapping system might occasionally lose its bearings. In this regard, LiDAR simply still has the edge. I also see issues on rough or wet surfaces. For example, during testing, the E15 lost traction on a patch of wet grass. According to Anker, the maximum incline on sloped surfaces is 18°.
That may be less than some competitors offer, but it was more than enough for my urban garden in the lowlands. A fundamental drawback of camera-based navigation: The E15 can only operate during daylight hours. Its operating time is limited to the window between 30 minutes after sunrise and 30 minutes before sunset. Nighttime operation—for example, for undisturbed, quiet mowing in the evening—is not possible.
Mowing Performance of the eufy E15
The eufy E15’s cutting deck features three interchangeable blades and has a diameter of just under 20 cm. While many competitors may have the edge here, this is perfectly sufficient for the target area of approximately 800 m². The E15 compensates for its comparatively narrow working width by mowing more frequently—as a daily, continuous mower, it delivers a consistent and well-maintained result overall.
The mowing results are ultimately impressive. The robot mows in neat, parallel swaths and leaves the lawn looking even. The cutting height can be adjusted continuously between 25 and 75 mm via the app—a major advantage over the eufy C15 (Review | € 799.00 *), which can only be adjusted manually on the device itself.
On our test lawn, which is about 100 m² in size, the E15 covered the entire area in about an hour. Its battery charge was more than enough for this. If the area is larger than the battery can handle, that’s not a problem either. In that case, the E15 will return to the charging station, recharge its battery cells, and automatically resume mowing from the last spot it was mowing.
Edge cutting is one of the E15’s well-known weaknesses. Along lawn edges, walls, and flower bed borders, a narrow strip of grass is occasionally left uncut, which must be trimmed by hand. Although Eufy has integrated a Smart Edge feature that improves edge cutting, the overall performance isn’t truly satisfactory.
On the plus side: The rain sensor reliably detects precipitation and sends the robot back to the charging station in a timely manner. When the sun comes out again, it automatically resumes work. In our test, the E15 always retreated on its own when rain began to fall—without any manual intervention.
Conclusion on the eufy E15
With the E15, eufy offers an impressive robotic lawn mower for anyone looking for the simplest possible solution without a boundary wire or RTK antenna. Setup is pleasantly simple, the camera-based navigation works reliably in well-organized gardens, and obstacle detection is one of the robot’s greatest strengths. The app also impresses with its intuitive interface, numerous customization options, and practical additional features such as a live camera feed, remote control, and GPS tracking. The E15 also makes a good impression when it comes to actual mowing performance. The cut is clean and even, the automatic resumption after charging works reliably, and the rain sensor functions flawlessly.
However, there are some drawbacks when it comes to edge cutting, which—despite the Smart-Edge feature—doesn’t quite deliver. In addition, the camera-only navigation system naturally reaches its limits more quickly in complex gardens or under challenging lighting and ground conditions than systems with LiDAR or RTK. On top of that, the E15 can only operate in daylight. All in all, the eufy E15 still offers a well-rounded package. If you have a mostly flat, well-organized garden and place particular value on easy setup and convenient operation, you’ll get a powerful and pleasantly low-maintenance robotic lawn mower with an attractive price-to-performance ratio.
