At first glance, the Eufy Outdoor String Lights E10 looks like a conventional string of lights. The string of 30 LED lights, which measures 29 meters in total and has a classic light bulb look, has a very good build quality. This didn’t really surprise me, given the very good workmanship of the Eufy Indoor Floor Lamp E10 (review, € 109.99 *).
The black cable and the black light bulb sockets are pleasingly inconspicuous, so that the fairy lights are by no means disruptive even when switched off. A closer look reveals that the LEDs inside the light bulbs have a matt surface. This not only gives them an elegant appearance, but is also intended to ensure even light distribution.
The starting point of the Outdoor String Lights E10 is the power supply unit. This is followed by the connection for the string of lights. One element measures a total of 15 meters and has 15 light bulbs. In the test, we had the version with a total length of 30 meters at our disposal. To do this, simply connect two fairy lights together. A practical unit with a button is available for quick switching on and off and setting up.
The technical data also reads very well in terms of durability and longevity. Thanks to its thick two-layer insulation, the cable should be able to withstand 1000 kinks. IP65 certification also promises damage-free use in poor weather conditions. Appropriate rubbers at the connection points provide protection here. You can not only set the color and its brightness.
You can also use ready-made scenes from Eufy. The Anker subsidiary already offers more than 80 themes in the app. So you don’t have to laboriously put together a color scheme yourself for occasions like Christmas or Halloween. Eufy Home offers suitable solutions for the most important occasions. On the other hand, if you prefer individuality and want to design your very own light picture, you can create individual patterns. You can assign a specific color to each individual light bulb and decide how the bulbs should light up.
The app is quite clear, but cannot keep up with that of the industry leader Philips Hue. In my opinion, the Anker brand still needs to invest a little fine-tuning here in order to match the ease of use of its big role model. But once you’ve got the hang of it, you’ll quickly get to grips with the Eufy Home app and the right lighting control. The problem should also soon be solved.
After all, Eufy is planning to combine its various apps into one overall app anyway. This should provide Eufy fans in particular with a much clearer overview. The Eufy Outdoor String Lights E10 really come into their own when the sun goes down. I tested various lights and was really impressed. The light bulbs not only shine with 16 million colors. As the Anker brand not only uses RGB LEDs but also WW LEDs, the light bulbs also impress with great white tones. Eufy calls these combined RGBWW LEDs WonderShine.
That may sound a bit pretentious, but the results are really impressive. You can select a color temperature between 1500 and 9000 Kelvin. This means that the light chain can reproduce pretty much any shade of white from warm white to cool white. It therefore not only scores as atmospheric background lighting. The light chain can also brighten up areas significantly.
This makes the string of lights a real all-rounder. Regardless of the light color and white tone, the Outdoor String Lights E10 delivers great results. Incidentally, if you don’t have the necessary inspiration but still want to create individual light images, you can use the support of artificial intelligence (AI). All you have to do is select your preferences and make it clear in the app which requirements the lighting should fulfill. The app then generates suitable lighting scenarios and illuminates the light bulbs in the appropriate light.
WonderLink for integration into the Eufy ecosystem
The combination of white and colored LEDs called WonderShine is not the only “miracle” the light chain is supposed to be capable of. Eufy also offers another feature here with WonderLink. This stands for extensive networking and synchronization of lighting and security gadgets, which should please owners of the manufacturer’s security cameras in particular.
For example, it is possible to specify which lighting should be set for which person. If, for example, an eufyCam S3 Pro (review, € 649.00 (€ 324.50 / stück)*) recognizes a specific person thanks to facial recognition, individual lighting can be activated if required. But of course it can also be simpler. More general lighting reactions are also possible.
For example, if visitors arrive, they can be greeted with suitable lighting. If the camera triggers an alarm, on the other hand, the light chain can play a clear warning. For example, a bright red flashing light would be appropriate here. This concept is not only promising for the future, but also extremely convenient. Speaking of ease of use. As the fairy lights are compatible with Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa, they can be conveniently controlled using voice commands.
