Eufy Robot Vacuum Cleaner 3-in-1 E20 Test: Well-equipped robot
There is nothing to complain about in terms of appearance. Once again, you get the usual high Eufy quality. The manufacturer has opted for a combination of matt dark gray and black for the housing of the robot vacuum and suction station. The Robo is circular and has the standard LiDAR turret on the top, which is used for navigation.
The small control unit for start/stop or returning to the suction station should also look familiar to robot vacuum experts. But much more exciting are the differences to other models on the market. And there are two of them on the top. Firstly, the robot’s removable suction unit is located here.
It is not without reason that this resembles the motor unit of a conventional cordless vacuum cleaner. You can easily remove it and then convert it into either a conventional vacuum cleaner with a long suction rod or a handheld vacuum cleaner. A suitable attachment for use as a handheld vacuum cleaner is also located on the top.
A look at the underside is more familiar. This is where the main brush, side brush and wheels are located. However, you won’t find a mopping unit. The Eufy E20 is therefore a pure vacuum cleaner, which seems almost exotic in the year 2025.
For powerful mopping performance, Eufy also has the Eufy S1 Pro (Review | € 1,139.00 *) and Eufy S1 (Review | € 1,099.00 *). The workmanship is of a good standard. I couldn’t see any scratches or similar on the Robo itself or the suction station after the test period.
The situation is different with the accessories. The attachments were definitely scratched after the test days. The transparent dust container of the vacuum cleaner unit also showed scratches. However, these are only minor visual blemishes that in no way impaired usability.
Eufy Robot Vacuum Cleaner 3-in-1 E20 test: Vacuuming station in compact format
The suction station is a perfect visual match for the vacuum cleaner. Eufy has also opted for a color combination of dark grey and black. You can access the dust bag via a flap on the top, which needs to be replaced after just under 75 days for the average user. This is where the garbage ends up, which the robot hoover extracts via the hatch at the front.
But the Robo doesn’t just vacuum up the dirt after every cleaning session. The dirt is also vacuumed away automatically after use as a handheld vacuum cleaner. The prerequisite for this is that the vacuum cleaner has been in operation for at least 10 minutes. If you want to save on dust bags, you can also simply empty the container yourself.
With a quick flick of the wrist, you can unscrew the corresponding module and simply dispose of the contents in the waste garbage can. The fact that Eufy concentrates purely on a suction function here has a decisive advantage over conventional all-in-one stations. For example, it is significantly smaller than its sibling, the Eufy X10 Pro Omni (Review | € 844.58 *).
However, there is one thing I would have liked to see. The robot hoover has space for a vacuum cleaner unit and an attachment. But the Eufy E20 comes with even more accessories. In addition to a 2-in-1 brush, the Anker subsidiary also includes a vacuum cleaner rod and main brush. It would have been a good idea to attach suitable attachments for these to the station.
Eufy Robot Vacuum Cleaner 3-in-1 E20 Test: Navigation + object recognition
The Eufy E20 relies on classic LiDAR technology for navigation. The surroundings are measured using a laser. The big advantage: the robot can find its way around even in absolute darkness. And this is also noticeable in practice. On its maiden voyage, the smart household helper still moves forward a little hesitantly, but its speed of movement increases noticeably on its second cleaning tour.
The map created is also impressive. Although it cannot keep up with the level of detail of competitors such as a Dreame L10s Ultra Gen 2 (Review | € 559.99 *) or a Roborock Qrevo Master (Review | € 1,299.00 *), but the average user without an exotic floor plan will be completely satisfied with the results. The object recognition can best be described as solid.
Larger obstacles were no problem for the smart household helper in most cases. True to the motto “Danger recognized, danger averted”, it usually avoids them skilfully. However, you shouldn’t trust it when it comes to cables and other flat obstacles. If excellent obstacle detection is important to you, you should take a look at the Narwal Freo Z Ultra (Review | € 899.00 *).
Eufy vacuum robot 3-in-1 E20 test: App operation
There are no big surprises with the app. Here you get the usual good overview of the Eufy app. You can make adjustments to the map or the suction power. You can also set a cleaning schedule and determine on which days and times the vacuum cleaner should be activated automatically.
You can also use a manual mode and steer the Robo yourself like a remote-controlled car. On top of that, Eufy implements voice prompts that are really convincing in practice and always keep the user up to date – even in German. However, I find it a bit of a shame that the app only establishes a connection to the robot hoover itself.
If you use the E20 in handheld or vacuum cleaner mode, no data can be read from the software. I’m not a fan of statistics, but I would have liked to have at least the battery status display for vacuum cleaner mode as well.
Eufy Robot Vacuum Cleaner 3-in-1 E20 test: Cleaning performance
Although the Eufy E20 is a combination appliance, the focus is still on its use as a robot vacuum cleaner. And here the device delivers a solid performance. You shouldn’t expect miracles here, but the smart household helper is perfectly adequate for everyday dirt on the floor. Thanks to a suction power of 8,000 Pascal, the small robot can even vacuum carpets quite well.
Automatic carpet detection is on board. If the sensors detect a carpet, the suction power is automatically increased to the maximum. Nevertheless, the results on hard floors are significantly better. If you have a lot of carpeting, you should therefore opt for a more powerful Robo or simply use the Eufy as a conventional vacuum cleaner. Because there is a lot of power here.
You get up to 30,000 Pascal when using it in vacuum cleaner mode. And this is also noticeable. The household helper sucks up pretty much any dirt in no time at all. Thanks to the long telescopic pole with main brush, even long-pile carpets are no problem. When used as a handheld vacuum cleaner, you can reach even the smallest corners and other areas that the robot vacuum cleaner simply cannot reach.
Eufy Robot Vacuum Cleaner 3-in-1 E20 Test: Battery life
According to Eufy’s factory specifications, the E20 should be able to run for up to 180 minutes. However, you will hardly achieve this runtime with average use. After all, very few people will let their robot vacuum work on the lowest suction level. You should rather expect a running time of around two hours. But is that a bad thing? Not at all! Unless you live in a large castle. This is perfectly adequate for average-sized apartments.
The runtime is of course significantly shorter when used as a handheld vacuum cleaner or vacuum cleaner. Here again, however, it depends on the suction power. At maximum level, it’s already over after a good 20 minutes. It lasts around twice as long if you use it on a medium setting. These are also solid values. The charging time is also impressive. A quick-charge function fills the battery within 2.5 hours.
Conclusion
The Eufy E20 is a well thought-out 3-in-1 appliance that combines the functions of a robot vacuum cleaner, handheld vacuum cleaner and cordless stick vacuum cleaner. The flexibility offered by this combination is particularly impressive, making the appliance extremely versatile. The workmanship is of the usual high Eufy standard and the compact suction station saves space and fits perfectly with the Robo.
The cleaning performance of the E20 is solid, especially on hard floors, while carpets are cleaned somewhat less efficiently in robot vacuum mode. In hand and stick vacuum cleaner mode, however, the appliance impresses with an impressive suction power of up to 30,000 pascals. The app offers clear controls and practical functions such as cleaning schedules.
However, the hand and stick vacuum cleaner modes lack app features such as battery status indicators and the robot’s obstacle detection is no more than solid. A mopping function would also have rounded off the overall package. Overall, the Eufy E20 is a versatile all-rounder that is particularly suitable for households with different cleaning needs. Despite minor weaknesses, it impresses with its innovative concept, good performance and compact design.
