The iGarden Swim Jet X PRO 10 review examines whether the top-of-the-line model in iGarden’s line of counter-current swimming systems is worth the investment for serious swim training in your own backyard. A backyard pool is perfect for cooling off, but it’s often too short for real lap training: after just a few strokes, you hit the wall, and you have to turn around constantly. The X PRO 10 (internal model X35-P60) is the most powerful model in the iGarden Swim Jet X series and generates a strong countercurrent that allows you to swim practically in place—it’s portable, battery-powered, and requires no structural modifications to the pool. Behind the device is the Fairland Group, a manufacturer with 25 years of experience in the pool industry, approximately $280 million in research investment, and over 100 patents. We tested the X PRO 10 in our own pool for several weeks.
What is a counter-current swimming system? A counter-current swimming system (also known as a swim jet) uses a pump or nozzle to generate a continuous flow of water. Swimmers move against this current while remaining virtually in place—this enables endurance training even in small pools that are too short for traditional lap swimming.
Technical Specifications & Package Contents

For comparison: The more compact models, the X5 (X30-P30) and X AIR (X25-P15), cost significantly less but also offer noticeably less power and runtime at high settings. Our recommendation: X35-P60 for serious training, X25 only for occasional use.
Design & Build Quality
The housing looks high-quality and sturdy; even after several weeks of contact with the pool during testing, the matte surface showed no scratches. Setup is straightforward: hang the jet unit on the pool edge, place the battery box next to it, and turn it on—no installation, no plumbing work, just hang it up. In our test, setup took less than five minutes.
One thing you shouldn’t underestimate: With the main unit weighing 14 kg and the battery box weighing an additional 11.6 kg, the X PRO 10 tips the scales at a total of around 26 kg. The modular design with a detachable battery box makes transport noticeably easier, and the telescoping handle and wheels also make storage between seasons practical.
Field Test: Swim Training in the Backyard Pool
Even at the first two settings, you immediately notice that more is happening here than with a normal pool current: The current pushes you back noticeably as soon as you stop actively swimming against it. One technical detail really makes a difference in everyday use: The wide flow channel also supports the hips and legs, allowing you to maintain a flat body position without having to actively counteract the current—a common problem with cheaper counter-current systems featuring a narrow jet stream does not occur here.
At level P4 during testing in our pool, the current becomes so strong that running against it is practically impossible—this is where the device’s full capabilities shine through. Two additional modes make the X PRO 10 even more versatile: PE (“Turbo”) provides a brief burst of power for sprints, while PF (“Speed Cycling”) automatically alternates between intensities for interval-style training.
In our test, the X PRO 10 proved suitable not only for classic lane training but also for aquatic therapy and mobility training, where the adjustable current enables controlled movement against resistance. For long-distance swimmers and triathletes, it’s the right choice within the series. Surprisingly versatile: The current can even be used for whitewater-level canoe training. And last but not least, the device is a lot of fun for kids—during testing, the current was quickly repurposed for water games right in the backyard.
Additional performance ranges
Battery life: The 1.5 to 10 hours, depending on the setting, align with our experience: At low settings, several hours of continuous use are easily possible—which is more than enough for all-day use at pool parties. However, the 7-hour charging time is noticeably long and should be factored into your planning.
Safety: A gyroscope sensor triggers an emergency shutdown as soon as the device is shifted or moved unexpectedly; it also features an anti-entanglement protective grille. Long hair should still be secured away from the device.
Pool compatibility: The pool should be at least 2 × 4 m in size; the X PRO 10 works in both in-ground and above-ground pools.
Two Modes: Surface Mode is ideal for relaxed, recreational fun on the water’s surface, while Underwater Mode is designed for ambitious training.
Software & App
The iGarden app reliably controls the current level, timer, and workout programs. Setting up the Wi-Fi connection was hassle-free during testing—a two-second press of a button is all it takes to connect. One limitation: The connection operates exclusively via 2.4-GHz Wi-Fi; 5-GHz networks are not supported, which can occasionally lead to setup issues with modern mesh routers. Additionally, changing the current flow level is sometimes a bit sluggish.
A word about the “AI” marketing: iGarden advertises the control system as AI-powered, but in reality, it is essentially an adaptive inverter drive that continuously adjusts the flow rate. This is technically well-implemented, but it has little to do with “artificial intelligence” in the true sense of the term—in our view, the term is being somewhat overused here.
Value for Money
With an MSRP of €3,579 in the official EU store, the X PRO 10 remains well below the price of permanently installed counter-current systems, which can cost between $5,000 and $20,000 —the device was originally available via Kickstarter starting at $2,599. For ambitious swimmers and triathletes who actually benefit from the full performance, the premium over the X5 or X AIR is justified.
Conclusion
The iGarden Swim Jet X PRO 10 makes counter-current swimming at home affordable and practical for the general public for the first time—without any construction work. It’s not only suitable as a serious training tool for swimmers, triathletes, and even canoeists, but also as a source of fun for the whole family—for example, when wakeboarding in your own pool. The value for money compared to permanently installed systems is very good. The main caveat remains the lack of long-term experience with this first-generation product—but if you can live with that, you’ll get a versatile and powerful counter-current swimming system that comes with a clear recommendation to buy.
