JIMMY JV9 Pro Aqua test: Not a vacuum cleaner, but still wet?

One of those devices where you first think “okay, another cordless vacuum cleaner” and then realize: there’s a pretty unique concept behind it. The JIMMY JV9 Pro Aqua is not just a classic stick vacuum cleaner, but also comes with a separate mop head – with two rotating pads instead of a static mop. Sounds like a gimmick at first. But in our test of the JIMMY JV9 Pro Aqua, we find out where its strengths lie, what is “aqua” about it (and what isn’t) and who it’s really suitable for.

Scope of delivery: more useful than “another mini brush”

Everything here looks more like a well thought-out complete set than “a few attachments on top”.

You get the vacuum cleaner as a handheld device with battery and container, plus the pipe system for normal everyday floor cleaning and several heads for different tasks. The large motorized floor head is for floors, plus a separate motorized upholstery/mite head for sofas, mattresses and textile surfaces. The parts that you really do get out of the cupboard more often than you think are also practical.

The flexible hose makes it easier to get into the car and tight places, and the 90° bend tube is perfect for areas under the bed, lowboard or sofa where you would otherwise quickly get stuck. “Aqua” here means that a separate mop head with water tank and rotating pads is included, so you can not only vacuum, but also go over it with a damp cloth if necessary. At the end, everything ends up in a station so that the accessories don’t fly around loose.

First impression: solid, but not a “premium finish” everywhere

The JV9 Pro Aqua makes a solid impression when you unpack it. The metal tube doesn’t feel like a “toy”, the plug connections snap in cleanly and the contacts don’t appear to wear out immediately, even after many changes. The handpiece also fits well in the hand and nothing rattles around loosely when you lift the vacuum cleaner briefly or turn the tube. It is precisely this “fits right away” feeling that is not always a given with cordless vacuum cleaners.

Nevertheless, it’s not a device where you get that uncompromising premium finish everywhere that you get from the really expensive brands. Compared to older Jimmy generations, some small parts appear slightly simpler. This is more evident in details such as plastic surfaces, edges or the look of some attachments – less so in terms of function. It certainly looks robust, but instead of a “design showcase from a single source”, Jimmy clearly focuses on features and practical use rather than high-gloss perfection.

Floor roller: good on hard floors – but without LED

The large motor head is typical JIMMY: cleanly finished, properly motorized and really strong on hard floors. This works well on tiles, parquet or vinyl – also because the roller in this setup is clearly optimized for smooth floors. Short-pile carpets can still work, but long-pile is not the best discipline – it quickly becomes tough.

What really stands out is the lack of an LED light at the front. In 2026, that’s a bit of an “excuse me?” moment, because even many cheaper appliances now come with at least a simple light strip. You notice this immediately in darker corners and under furniture.

Upholstery roller: small but surprisingly effective

The upholstery roller is one of those accessories that is easy to underestimate when unpacking – until you have used it once. It is much more compact than the large floor head, but is clearly designed for textile surfaces. The rotating roller actively removes hair, dust and fine crumbs from the fabric instead of just vacuuming the surface.

The motorized upholstery roller in use on the sofa – particularly helpful for hair and deep-seated dust

In the test, this was particularly evident on sofas, cushions and in the car. Animal hair can be picked up noticeably better than with a normal crevice nozzle because it is not simply pulled over the fabric, but is actually combed out. Even fine dust that “hides” in upholstery can be picked up much more reliably.

The roller runs quietly and in a controlled manner – nothing plucks or pulls on the fabric. This is great for delicate materials, especially sofas with a tight weave or car seats.

90° bend tube – more useful than it sounds

The tube can be bent through 90 degrees, making it much easier to get the floor head under flat furniture. You don’t have to lower the handle as far, which makes it more comfortable to use and you don’t have to constantly change your grip.

In the test, this was particularly helpful with low sofas, beds and sideboards because you can get underneath them more quickly without tilting your head. It is also important that the joint is stable and does not push back immediately when pushed.

The bottom line is that this is not a show feature, but a detail that makes operation noticeably more convenient as soon as you vacuum in low areas more often.

How strong is the suction power of the JIMMY JV9 Pro Aqua?

The 21,000 Pa on the data sheet doesn’t seem spectacular at first, especially because we are now used to completely exaggerated fantasy figures from various stores. We did not check the suction power with measuring devices, but evaluated it using typical test situations.

The JIMMY JV9 Pro Aqua performed really well in our test. It picks up dirt cleanly on hard floors without having to constantly go over the same spot several times. Its performance was also clearly noticeable and stable on flat carpets.

Auto mode: good idea, but not always accurate

The auto mode adjusts the power depending on the surface and dirt. This often works well and you can even hear the adjustment in the noise. However, the behavior is not completely constant: sometimes it reacts a little late or stays at one level for longer. Nevertheless, this is the most convenient setting for many situations because you rarely have to intervene yourself.

Dust container and filter system of the JIMMY JV9 Pro Aqua in the test

The dust container of the JV9 Pro Aqua is separated internally, which is more than just an optical feature. Coarse dirt ends up at the front, while the filter area sits separately behind it and therefore remains much cleaner. In practice, less dirt collects directly on the filter and the suction power remains stable even when the container is full.

The dust container can be completely detached from the handpiece – this makes emptying easier and also makes cleaning in between much more relaxed

Emptying is done at the touch of a button, as you would expect. The system can be completely dismantled for cleaning and the filter/container parts are washable – the only important thing is that everything really dries completely before it is used again.

Disassembled you can see the structure better: the cyclone insert, metal sieve and lid can be cleaned separately – this helps if fine dust gets stuck

In a nutshell:

  • Two-part container with separate filter area
  • Emptying via flap at the touch of a button
  • Washable filter and container parts

“Aqua” or simply the mop head with two rotating pads

“Aqua” here does not mean wet/dry vacuuming, but a separate mop head with two rotating pads. This is particularly important because the JIMMY JV9 Pro Aqua is not an appliance that sucks up dirty water – anyone who automatically thinks of a classic vacuum cleaner when they hear “Aqua” is wrong.

How the mop head works in detail:

  • Own water tank in the head (approx. 0.5 l)
  • Water supply by gravity, can be switched on and off directly on the nozzle using a button
  • Two rotating pads with around 210 rpm for even damp mopping

The transparent water tank can be removed from the side of the mopping module and easily filled – practical for quick preparation before mopping

The strength lies in the even wet film. The floor is not flooded and dries quickly. The pads protrude slightly over the side of the housing. This allows you to get closer to edges and skirting boards when mopping instead of automatically leaving a narrow strip there.

However, the boundary is just as clear. Loosened dirt is not picked up. If there is a lot of dirt or wet mishaps, the dirt tends to be spread further until the pads are cleaned. For dust, light footprints and individual stains, however, the system works surprisingly quickly.

How does the JIMMY JV9 Pro Aqua perform with real dirt in the test?

We “fed” the JV9 Pro Aqua with a mix that is standard in many households: rice, herbs, dog hair – and crispbread crumbs. The mix is particularly exciting because it reveals different weaknesses. Rice shows quite directly whether a vacuum cleaner picks up coarse particles cleanly or pushes them in front of its head. Dry herbs are ideal for this because the mixture of very small and somewhat coarser particles quickly reveals whether the pick-up works consistently – and they also tend to get stuck on carpet if the air flow and the floor head do not interact properly. Dog undercoat is a separate chapter because it “clings” to textile surfaces and therefore quickly shows how well the head really works. And crispbread crumbs on carpets are often the point at which cordless vacuum cleaners weaken because the crumbs like to remain in the structure instead of disappearing directly.

In the test, the JIMMY JV9 Pro Aqua delivered solid results in precisely these areas. Rice and herbs were picked up cleanly on hard floors without having to “work” hard. When it came to the dog’s undercoat, the guidance was more decisive: if you don’t go over it too hectically, the head picks up the fibers much better and doesn’t just distribute them in the roller. The flat carpet was exciting for us: it collected the crispbread crumbs surprisingly well without having to go over the same spot five times. This is precisely where the suction power is stronger in practice than the bare figure on the data sheet would suggest.

The test mix of crumbs, dust and hair vacuumed up clearly shows what the JV9 Pro Aqua has to cope with in everyday life

Running time & the “downshift” behavior

It’s worth taking a closer look at the battery life, as manufacturer values are often based on ideal conditions. In the test, we therefore stopped the runtimes according to levels:

  • Eco was around 40 minutes, which is realistically close to the 45 minutes specified by the manufacturer.
  • Turbo was around 16 minutes.
  • Max was around 8 to 10 minutes.

The downshift behavior is important here. Shortly before the battery is empty, the vacuum cleaner automatically switches down a level and can then no longer be reset to Max. In practical terms, this means that the Max power does not remain constant until the last percent is reached.

In our opinion, this is a clear minus point for larger homes. As soon as you don’t just want to “get through it quickly once”, but really use it a lot in a household, 8 to 10 minutes max and the automatic downshift are simply too short to get through without interruption.

A quick word about the volume

When it comes to noise levels, the JV9 Pro Aqua makes an overall unagitated impression. It doesn’t sound shrill or “tinny”, but more like a steady hiss.

It is also noticeable that the gradations are acoustically quite close together. You can hear when it is turned up, but the jump is not as extreme as with devices that switch directly from “okay” to “now it’s roaring”.

Of course, it’s not completely quiet, especially with the motor head on a carpet – but overall, the volume is more like an accompanying noise that doesn’t immediately attract attention.

Charging the battery: neat, but without a charging station

The station is more of a stand and storage solution than a real docking station. You can park the vacuum cleaner neatly, sort the attachments sensibly and even the large heads have their place – this looks neat and ensures that the set doesn’t end up as a pile of accessories in the corner.

Now for the small catch: you have to plug the cable directly into the battery or handpiece to charge it. This is not a problem, but it is noticeably less convenient than with systems where you simply “snap in” the vacuum cleaner and you’re done. Especially when the overall first impression is quite high quality, this point seems like a small step backwards in terms of ease of use.

All in all, the station does its job as a holder really well – just without the convenient docking that you would automatically expect from a model of this standard.

The stand of the JIMMY JV9 Pro Aqua keeps everything tidy and offers space for all attachments – but charging is done directly on the handpiece via cable

Who is the JIMMY JV9 Pro Aqua suitable for?

If you take a sober look at the concept after the test, this is where the JIMMY JV9 Pro Aqua really comes into its own:

  • Households with a lot of hard flooring, where you want to vacuum quickly and see mopping more as “freshening up”.
  • Homes with normal soiling, where the mop head is intended for dust, footprints and small stains.
  • Those who often have to get under furniture and want to bend down less when vacuuming – the 90° bend tube is really practical for this.
  • Anyone who also regularly uses the vacuum cleaner for upholstery, corners and cars and doesn’t want to “rebuild” the appliance every time.

It is less suitable if you often have to do really wet and messy cleaning (mud, lots of dirt at once, sticky kitchen accidents). In this case, a system that actively absorbs dirty water and replenishes the mopping components with fresh water during cleaning is a much more suitable category.

Our conclusion on the JIMMY JV9 Pro Aqua after the test

The JIMMY JV9 Pro Aqua is an interesting appliance because it doesn’t sell itself as “can do everything” – but instead follows a fairly clear line: powerful vacuuming and fast mopping – but as two separate worlds.

The strengths are very tangible: two-part dust container (filter stays cleaner), useful accessories, 90° bend tube, and a mop head that can be really fast on hard floors without completely flooding the floor.

However, the weaknesses are just as clear: no LED light on the floor head, auto mode is not always accurate, and the mop head is not a “wet vacuum cleaner”, meaning dirt is not picked up but has to be managed via clean pads.

If you’re looking for exactly this kind of “vacuum + mop light”, this is a pretty well-rounded candidate.

PRO

  • Very harmonious accessories (including flexible hose, upholstery head)
  • 90° articulated tube makes under-furniture cleaning much more convenient
  • two-part dust container keeps the filter area well clean
  • Mopping head with two rotating pads – fast & relatively even on hard floors

CONTRA

  • No LED light on the large floor head
  • Mopping head does not pick up dirt – pads must be kept clean
  • Charging station without charging function (cable must be connected directly)
  • Auto mode not always reliable in detection

83/100

Powerful suction power, useful accessories and a mop head with rotating pads that can quickly "damp mop" hard floors. Not a classic mop vacuum cleaner, i.e. without dirty water pick-up. Deductions are made for the lack of LED light on the floor head, the station without charging function and the short max running time with downshift.
