JIMMY R9 Pro TEST: High-quality materials and solid workmanship
The JIMMY R9 Pro presents itself as a modern kitchen appliance that fits easily into your kitchen or office. Provided you have enough space. After all, with its dimensions of 381 × 252 × 357 mm, the gadget takes up about as much space as a fully automatic coffee machine. In terms of design, JIMMY has opted for a functional but also high-quality look. The R9 Pro therefore fits into both modern and classic kitchens. You can see this at first glance.
After all, JIMMY dispenses with playful elements and instead focuses on clear lines and a minimalist color scheme. The device comes in a modern shade of gray, which is quite well protected from fingerprints thanks to its matte finish. The control unit is a different story, with its glossy glass surface revealing the occasional fingerprint. However, regular wiping with a damp cloth is enough to solve the problem.
The case is made of robust plastic with neatly finished transitions and a very solid overall appearance. A particularly positive feature is that the carafes are made of BPA-free Tritan – an aspect that benefits more than just health. This should also have a positive effect on the longevity of the appliance. Tritan is not only tasteless and free of harmful substances, but also resistant to discoloration and cracking.
JIMMY R9 Pro TEST: Color touch display
The water tank for fresh water is located on the side and is easy to remove and fill. With a volume of a whopping 5.5 l, its size is perfectly sufficient to produce several liters of filtered water without having to refill too often. Households with high water consumption must nevertheless be prepared to have to provide fresh water regularly. But this is a completely normal problem with water filter systems that are not permanently installed with the water connection. The large touch display on the front is a central design element and a real eye-catcher.
It is slightly angled and therefore not only easy to operate, but also easy to read. It blends harmoniously into the overall picture and is neither overloaded nor too playful. Speaking of eye-catchers: The illuminated water spout is definitely a sight to behold. But it doesn’t just look chic. It also proves to be a practical detail if the R9 Pro is located in a poorly lit section of the kitchen. After all, the light makes it easier to position cups and glasses. It also indicates hot or cold water depending on the color (red or blue).
There are a total of two jugs included that you can fill with water. JIMMY has thought this through, as not everyone may want the same water temperature. So one jug can be cooled in the station, while the other jug is at room temperature. What’s more, this way you don’t have to run the appliance too often during the day. Simply fill the two jugs with freshly filtered water in the morning and you have peace of mind. Other manufacturers rely on a fixed spout here, which means that there is no alternative to tapping from the appliance.
In my opinion, the concept with the two carafes from JIMMY offers significantly more flexibility and, on top of that, added value that should not be sneezed at. After all, the jugs are also a practical enrichment for the household apart from the R9 Pro. Overall, the JIMMY R9 Pro gives a high-quality, well thought-out impression that is both visually and functionally impressive. The design and workmanship are clearly at a level that can be expected in the premium segment and underline the claim to be more than just a simple water filter.
JIMMY R9 Pro TEST: Reverse osmosis technology
Technically, the JIMMY R9 Pro combines several functions that are otherwise often spread across different devices. At its heart is a 7-stage reverse osmosis filter system. At the heart of the system is a high-precision RO membrane with a pore size of 0.0001 micrometers. According to the manufacturer, this is capable of removing over 99% of the pollutants contained in tap water, including heavy metals such as lead, chlorine compounds, nitrates, microplastics, bacteria and viruses.
This depth filtration is supplemented by integrated UV sterilization. This takes place in the water jug after filtration. According to JIMMY, sterilization prevents microorganisms from accumulating in the purified water. Thanks to this microbiological protection, the system prevents germs from forming in the tank.
In my experience, I am always a little skeptical about such filter technologies. But the JIMMY R9 Pro proved me wrong. In the endurance test, I filled a mixture of coffee and tap water into the original tank and then had the whole thing filtered. The result was nothing less than impressive. In the end, the water was crystal clear. The system operates largely automatically.
To fill the removable 5.5-liter raw water tank with tap water, simply remove the tank from the device and carry it to the nearest sink. The practical carrying handle comes in handy here. Thanks to the handle, you can easily hold the tank under the water tap and let the water run into it. Then simply reinsert the tank. The filter system now starts automatically and produces pure water. This is then transferred to the fresh water carafe.
JIMMY R9 Pro TEST: Hot and cold water at the touch of a button
A key unique selling point of the R9 Pro is its ability to provide water at different temperatures almost instantaneously. In addition to water at room temperature, the appliance supplies both chilled water in the range of around 10 to 15 °C and hot water at freely selectable temperatures of up to 98 °C. This function not only replaces the classic water filter in everyday life, but also the kettle and fridge in many situations. In practice, the desired temperature is provided in just a few seconds, which pays off in many situations.
Whether it’s quick hot water for tea or lukewarm, freshly filtered water for preparing baby milk – the JIMMY R9 Pro saved a lot of time in many scenarios in my test. But as a user, you can not only set a desired temperature. The quantity can also be individually adjusted. The R9 Pro offers several preset quantities to choose from. This also paid off in my test when preparing baby milk or cooking according to a recipe. After checking with a measuring jug, I found that the desired amount of water was always correct.

The entire system is controlled via an intelligent touch display, which not only regulates temperatures and water quantities, but also provides real-time information on water quality. - M2S Pre-filter: up to 12 months or approx. 3,000 bottles.
- Q2S Post-filter: up to 12 months or approx. 3,000 bottles.

M2S is a pre-filter to remove big debris. This is the first filter. Q2S is a post-filter, which is placed after the RO filter. It’s the third filter to help add the minerals to the pure water. M2S and Q2S can be used for 12 months, while the RO filter can be used for up to 24 months. All of 3 filters are fit for R9 and R9 Pro and also all coming water purifers of JIMMY.
