The JONR brand is largely unknown, even to experts in the field of robot vacuum cleaners. In the JONR P20 Pro test, we were able to take a look at one of the manufacturer’s robotic vacuum cleaners. Its technical specifications are really good. A whopping 8000 pascal suction power is combined with a mopping function with two rotating mops, one of which can even be extended. There is also an all-in-one station that not only vacuums up the collected dirt, but also moistens and cleans the mop surfaces. All this is available at a really fair price. Do we have a new price-performance cracker here?

JONR P20 Pro test: Classic design
At first glance, the JONR P20 Pro reminds me of a classic robot vacuum from Roborock. This is not only due to the typical circular design of the robot hoover itself.
The base also reminded me of the Roborock QRevo Master (test). A look at the top of the plastic housing reveals the now typical LiDAR turret.
A red laser unit rotates inside the turret and is used for navigation. A rudimentary control unit with two physical buttons sits in front of the turret. The maintenance flap on the top provides access to the inner workings of the smart household helper.
Here you can access the dust container, among other things. There are sensors on the side of the robot that are used to measure the distance to walls. The sensor unit at the front is used to detect obstacles.
There are no big surprises on the underside either – at least at first glance. The wiping pads in particular are very exciting. One of the two has the option of being extended. This allows the P20 Pro to wipe along skirting boards to prevent uncleaned edges.
This is something we have only seen on much more expensive models such as the Dreame L20 Ultra (test). The main brush is located in the center of the underside. This not only looks quite small, but unfortunately also relies on a combination of rubber and bristles. A solid rubber solution is much better at preventing tangled hairs.
However, JONR promises that the robot vacuum’s brush will also be effective in preventing tangling. The manufacturer claims to have installed a special anti-tangle technology for this purpose. Its floating design should in turn enable it to adapt effectively to the surface. The equipment is rounded off on the underside with the side brush, which is used for cleaning corners.
JONR P20 Pro test: all-in-one station
Just like the robot hoover, the matching base also comes in a very good build quality. Here too, JONR has opted for an elegant matt white finish that effectively prevents fingerprints. Unlike other brands, the manufacturer does not hide the two water tanks under a lid.
Instead, they are openly accessible. The cover plate on the front provides access to the inside of the station. The dust bag for the suction function can be inserted here. Due to its large volume, this should only need to be replaced every 60 days or so. However, a Narwal Freo Z Ultra (test) lasts significantly longer.
The garage of the smart household helper is located in the lower section of the all-in-one station. This is not only where the robot vacuum’s battery is charged. The JONR P20 Pro’s internal dust container is also vacuumed in the parking space.
Last but not least, this is where the mops are moistened during cleaning and the mop surfaces are cleaned after each cleaning cycle. The wash tub in the lower section of the All-in-One station can be removed to make cleaning easier.
This means you only have to clean it at the sink. A ramp, which is included in the scope of delivery, should also make it easier to retract the smart household helper.
JONR P20 Pro test: quick setup
Setting up the JONR P20 Pro is not only child’s play, but also lightning fast. Once you have found a suitable place for the rather large base station, all you have to do is plug the Schuko connection of the permanently installed mains cable into the socket. It’s a pity that JONR has fixed the cable. This means that you have to use an extension cable for sockets that are further away and cannot use a longer power cable from a third-party manufacturer.
Then put the robot vacuum into pairing mode and connect it to the internet. To connect the smart household helper to the internet, you need to download the Xiaomi app. This provides clear step-by-step instructions. Connecting it to my network turned out to be quite complicated. I was only able to connect the Robo to the internet by creating a guest WLAN.
JONR P20 Pro test: Navigation and obstacle detection
During the first trip, the JONR P20 Pro creates a map of the area to be cleaned. A LiDAR sensor on the top of the robot hoover is used for this. This rotates at lightning speed and thus maps its surroundings much faster than purely optical navigation systems such as those in a Yeedi Cube (test) can achieve.
But LiDAR is not only ahead in terms of speed. The system also works more accurately. In the end, the floor plans are usually more detailed than is the case with purely optical systems. Another advantage is that LiDAR can create a map even in complete darkness and then navigate through the home.
Larger objects are skillfully avoided.
But there is also a disadvantage. The LiDAR tower is naturally taller, which means that the smart household helper may not fit under flat furniture. You should keep this in mind if the robot hoover is primarily intended to vacuum under sofas, sideboards and the like. The JONR P20 Pro delivered a good result in practice. Not only did the robot clean my home quickly, it also did so in a targeted manner.
The map at the end was also quite detailed, but cannot keep up with the results achieved by the high-priced competition from Dreame or Roborock, for example. Due to the lack of an optical sensor on the front, for example, no furniture or other objects are recognized and marked on the map. Nevertheless, the floor plan matched that of my home. However, you shouldn’t expect miracles from the obstacle detection.
Here, JONR relies on classic SLAM technology, which is also based on lasers. In the test, larger obstacles were skillfully avoided. However, you should not leave cables and other flat objects on the floor. These are easily overlooked by the smart household helper and, in the worst case, “eaten”.
JONR P20 Pro test: Xiaomi app
Manufacturer JONR does not yet have its own app. Instead, the P20 Pro can be set up and controlled via the Xiaomi app. And this works excellently in practice. Many different settings for the smart household helper can be made in the app.
In addition to the suction and mopping power, you can also make adjustments to the map or regulate the operation of the all-in-one station according to your own wishes. We have taken a few screenshots in the app to show you some of the numerous setting options.
But don’t worry: although there are many options for adjusting various parameters, even non-experts will quickly find their way around. This is thanks to the clear layout of the Xiaomi app.
JONR P20 Pro test: Practical test
In the detailed cleaning test, I took a closer look at how the smart household helper performs in practice. The focus was not only on the suction performance, but also on the mopping function. We also took a look at how much user convenience the all-in-one station offers.
Suction power
The JONR P20 Pro offers a suction power of 8000 Pascal and is therefore even more powerful than flagships such as a Roborock S8 Pro Ultra (test). It therefore comes as no surprise that the smart household helper conjures up really good suction power on the floor. This applies to both hard and carpeted floors.
The Robo recognizes the latter with the help of appropriate sensors on the underside. As soon as this is the case, it automatically increases the suction power to enable deep cleaning of carpets. If it detects a carpet, the vacuum cleaner reacts again. It raises its two mopping surfaces by 7 mm to prevent the carpet from being wetted unintentionally.
This may work well with a short-fiber carpet. However, if you have carpeting with longer fibers, you should not rely on this too much. If the Robo is only sent on a vacuuming tour, it also lifts its mops on hard floors.
The P20 Pro had a few problems with grainy dirt such as rice or cat litter. Here and there, a few grains remained on the floor. However, the vacuum was able to pick up the remaining dirt during another cleaning session.
I would blame the whole thing on the obviously quite narrow main brush. It’s not just the narrow form factor that’s a grain in my eye. I also find the choice of material a little questionable. After all, JONR uses a combination of bristles and rubber here – not solid rubber, as is now standard with Dreame, Roborock and others.
Nevertheless, the manufacturer emphasizes that pet hair should not get tangled up here. This is said to be due to the special design of the brush. In practice, I was not entirely convinced by the system. Hair stuck to the brush, which had to be removed afterwards. However, it is certainly better than other bristly main brushes without the anti-tangle concept.
Wiping performance
If you take a look at the wiping function of the JONR P20 Pro, you are reminded of a true flagship. This is due to the features it has to offer. JONR does not rely on a simple wiping surface, but instead provides the household helper with two round wiping pads. These rotate at a speed of 200 rpm during cleaning.
During the cleaning tour, the P20 Pro returns to the All-in-One station at regular intervals. There, the pads are cleaned and moistened with fresh water. This not only ensures that the mops always remain sufficiently moist. It also prevents any dirt that collects in the round cloths from being spread around the home.
Finally, this is rinsed out in the all-in-one station and then ends up in the dirty water tank. The mopping performance of the household helper is really good. However, the competition definitely has the edge here. While everyday dirt is easily removed by the P20 Pro, stubborn, slightly dried stains are too much of an obstacle.
But here, too, you have to keep the price in mind. After all, higher-priced competitors rely on moistening with hot water and/or exert significantly more pressure on the floor. However, the extendibility of the right-hand mop must be emphasized. This means it can also clean the complicated areas along skirting boards. Accordingly, the JONR P20 Pro offers a good, but not outstanding mopping function.
All-in-one station
The mopping surfaces are also rinsed thoroughly after each cleaning session. They are then dried using a hairdryer. Hot air is even used for this. This not only speeds up the process, but also prevents the formation of bacteria. This is anything but usual in this price range.
Unfortunately, there is no automatic addition of cleaning agent. The base of the P20 Pro does not have a suitable insert for this. All in all, however, I really like the all-in-one station. This is also due to the removable cleaning tray in which the mop pads are cleaned. This makes cleaning the vacuum cleaner much easier.
Conclusion
The JONR P20 Pro impresses as an inexpensive robot vacuum with practical features and good performance. However, it cannot compete with the established high-end models. Particularly impressive are the 8000 pascal suction power and the integrated mopping function with two rotating mops, one of which can be extended – a feature that is normally only found on much more expensive devices. The all-in-one station, which not only vacuums the dust but also moistens and cleans the mops, also contributes to increased user-friendliness.
One shortcoming of the appliance, however, is the weak obstacle detection, which can quickly cause frustration, especially in households with lots of cables. I also didn’t like the narrow design of the main brush and its corresponding choice of material – anti-tangle technology or not. The mopping performance of the P20 Pro is solid overall, but has difficulties with stubborn stains. This is where the price difference to more expensive devices, which often use hot water and exert more pressure, becomes apparent. Despite minor weaknesses, the JONR P20 Pro offers very good value for money. As an alternative, we recommend you take a look at the Dreame L10s Pro Ultra Heat (test).
