Height adjustable “3segment premium C” desk from Liftor in test

Height-adjustable desks are becoming increasingly popular. And this no longer just applies to open-plan offices. As the trend is moving more and more towards home offices, this back-friendly furniture can also increasingly be found in private homes. With the height-adjustable desk from Liftor, we want to take a closer look today at a model that is particularly aimed at private individuals.

This is why you should work standing up

The clever adage that “sitting is the new smoking” is now common knowledge. If you take a closer look at the problem, you can understand why. Since the average German spends 6.5 hours a day sitting, there is a high risk of damage to the back. It is even worse for people who also have a sedentary job. Those who have to sit at a desk every day spend an average of as much as 11 hours sitting. That is anything but healthy.

Securely packaged and surrounded by a shockproof wrapping, the table came in two individual packages. In the large one was the tabletop, in the small one was the frame.

The only way to solve this problem is to escape the vicious circle of permanent sitting. Here, a height-adjustable desk can be the solution. If you don’t have a static model, but one with a flexible working height, you can switch back and forth between different positions. It is precisely the constant alternation between standing and sitting that relieves the strain on the back. This makes it easy to avoid back pain after a long day of working at the computer.

Height-adjustable desks with 5-year warranty

The Corona pandemic has given the office furniture industry a real boost. This, of course, applies to desks as well. While height-adjustable models were once considered a healthy but often unaffordable alternative to conventional desks, they are now affordable even for the average consumer. Founded in Regensburg in 2019, Liftor has made it its mission to manufacture back-friendly solutions for the office and home office. Despite its still young company history, the range of available products is already impressive.

All the individual parts make a very well-made and robust impression.

In addition to classic office accessories, the company also offers customized height-adjustable desks. Liftor not only produces furniture solutions for children, but also special work tables and gaming tables. You can easily plan your own individual desk in the practical online configurator. You not only decide on the size and type of wood for the worktop. On top of that, you can secure a few practical additional features. In theory, this all sounds like a perfect overall package. But can the height-adjustable desk also convince in practice? We will show you!

Scope of delivery

The tabletop of our test object has the dimensions 180 cm x 80 cm and is 25 mm thick. Here, we opted for the table top “Sorano oak light”. The 3-segment table legs Premium C come in classic gray, but can also be supplied in white or black. The practical, optionally available table castors are again black. There are no big surprises in the scope of delivery. Liftor includes everything you need to assemble the height-adjustable desk. It was noticeable in a positive way that all individual parts of the desk were processed in a high-quality manner.

In addition, Liftor packed the partly sensitive technology so well that transport damages should be extremely rare. How extensive the package is filled depends primarily on which additional gadgets you choose in the configurator. In addition to the frame and tabletop, there are also matching seats, table castors and even a bicycle that is supposed to enable sports during work.

Technical details

I opted for the top model “3-segment premium C.” This one comes with the following specs.

Collision protection Anticollision system
Control unit LED display with memory function
Table height min. 60 cm – max. 125 cm
Suitable table tops 110 × 60 cm to 220 × 100 cm
Other features Ergonomic product – Certified by IGR
Price From 699,01 Euro (without table top)

High-quality worktop

Regardless of whether a desk is height adjustable or not, its longevity stands and falls with the worktop. Only if this is of high quality and at best also easy to clean, you can enjoy the office furniture for a long time. Liftor has completely convinced us in this respect.

The tabletop in Sorano Light Oak not only feels good, but also makes a high-quality impression in other respects. However, you have to be aware that it is not real wood. This makes accidental spills, for example, less of a problem, but reconditioning after several years of use is not possible.

All in all, the assembly of the desk was very straightforward. However, a small disadvantage compared to some competitors is the fact that Liftor does not pre-drill holes. Here you have to rely on your own intuition. However, if you don’t have two left hands, you should have no problem screwing the screws into the tabletop at the right place. The cordless screwdriver is an indispensable companion here.

Unfortunately, there are no pre-drilled holes on the underside of the high-quality tabletop

To make sure everything succeeds, Liftor includes seemingly foolproof instructions. Unfortunately, these are neither in German nor in English. If you don’t speak Czech, you’ll be left out in the cold. Fortunately, there is the Google translator to solve this problem as well. In addition, you can watch a video guide on how to build the desk.

A real all-rounder

Similarly uncomplicated as the assembly is also the operability of the height-adjustable desk from Liftor. This already starts with the mobility. Thanks to the built-in casters, which I opted for, you can maneuver the table back and forth comfortably and easily. But even the heart in the form of the height adjustment is not witchcraft here. The linchpin is the control unit, which you screw onto the front of the tabletop. If you press the arrow upwards, the table legs extend and the tabletop rises.

The control by pressing a button is very easy and quickly learned.

The opposite happens when you then press whole down. So you can switch between a minimum tabletop height of 62 cm and a maximum tabletop height of 127 cm back and forth – with the wheels, the table is of course a little higher. To make the whole thing even more comfortable, you can save a total of three heights. This allows you to switch between optimal sitting and standing positions at the touch of a button. Thanks to the anti-collision mechanism, you don’t have to worry about the table or other objects. If you spend too much time on your backside, the table reminds you that you should stand up again. An acoustic signal sounds for this purpose.

An important point in height-adjustable desks is stability. This is where the wheat is usually separated from the chaff. Liftor can definitely convince in this discipline. Even when fully extended, the frame can be relied on to stand firmly. Of course, it wobbles a bit when you jerk it, but that is also the case with much more expensive models. The reason for the high stability is the design of the telescopic legs. Fortunately, many manufacturers today rely on a system where the extended stand becomes narrower towards the top. In the past, the opposite was the case, which made one or another height-adjustable desk a wobbly affair.

Conclusion: finally working with a gentle back

In the test, the height-adjustable desk from Liftor completely convinced us. This begins with the high quality of materials and workmanship. You don’t get a bargain here, but you do get an obviously durable product. We can’t judge how the Regensburg-based company’s entry-level models fare.

However, the top frame in the form of the 3-segment Premium C made a really good impression in combination with the high-quality tabletop. Pre-drilled holes and assembly instructions in German or English would also have made assembly a little easier. Anyone who wants to work in a way that is easy on the back and is thinking about purchasing a height-adjustable desk should definitely take a closer look at Liftor’s models.
