MOVA Mobius 60 Review: Mop, Mop, Switch It Up

MOVA is one of the brands that has made a name for itself in the highly competitive robot vacuum market in a remarkably short time. With the MOVA Mobius 60, the Dreame subsidiary even offers a model with automatic mop replacement. Instead of a single pair of mop pads, the base station manages three different pad types and automatically selects the appropriate pair based on the room and floor type. This feature first gained attention with the Dreame Matrix10 Ultra (Review | € 1,199.00 *). We’ve tested the Mobius 60 extensively and highlight where the device impresses and where there’s still room for improvement.

Design and Build Quality of the MOVA Mobius 60

Visually, the Mobius 60 features an elegant matte black plastic housing. On the top of the circular robot sits a retractable LiDAR tower, complete with an LED ring and control buttons. With the LiDAR tower retracted, the Mobius 60 is less than 9 cm tall, allowing it to navigate under low-profile furniture. On the front is the camera unit for obstacle detection, as well as a bumper designed to cushion collisions in an emergency.

On the underside, we find the two wiping pads, the side brush, and the dual main brushes. The robot’s matte finish proves pleasantly resistant to fingerprints in everyday use. Build quality and fit-and-finish are consistently top-notch. But we’ve come to expect nothing less from MOVA.

The front panel of the base station is made of mirrored, tempered glass, and small gold accents round out its high-quality appearance. While many competing stations are designed purely for functionality, MOVA clearly treats the docking station as a standalone piece of furniture. With dimensions of 416 × 467 × 589 mm (W × D × H), it is noticeably taller than classic all-in-one stations. Anyone planning to set up the Mobius 60 should allow for sufficient headroom.

While the station may be significantly bulkier than the bases of comparable competitors, its elegant appearance makes it a real eye-catcher. One minor drawback, in my opinion, is the glossy surface on the front. The glass panel not only attracts dust but also fingerprints as if by magic. In this regard, the Robo’s matte casing is clearly easier to maintain.

Setup and Initial Configuration

Setup and initial configuration are quick and easy. The pre-assembled mopping pads are inserted behind the front flap of the base station, the included cleaning solutions are poured into the corresponding tanks, and the fresh water tank (5.5 liters) is filled under the faucet. The dust bag is already pre-installed, so once it’s plugged in, the app can take over right away. Setup is done via the MOVAhome app. Simply scan the QR code under the robot’s cover, share your Wi-Fi login credentials, and you’re done.

At the time of testing, a firmware update was immediately available, which could be downloaded and installed with a single tap. The first mapping run then starts automatically. Here, the AI-powered navigation creates a floor plan of the area to be cleaned within a few minutes. On top of that, the living space is divided into logical zones. It worked perfectly for me. The bathroom, hallway, and living room were reliably recognized. However, if any errors occur, you can make manual adjustments afterward.

MOVA App

The MOVAhome app is the central control tool for the Mobius 60 and offers much more than a simple start-stop remote control. It provides numerous customization options. For each room, you can specify separately whether it should vacuum only, mop only, or do both. You can also specify the order in which the rooms should be cleaned. Of course, you can adjust the suction power and water flow rate as well. Alternatively, the CleanGenius Mode—an AI-powered mode—is available, in which the robot determines these parameters on its own.

In conjunction with the interchangeable pads, the app also determines which mop type to use for each zone and how often it is washed during a cleaning cycle. With a single tap, you can also mark specific areas for targeted spot cleaning, such as under the dining table or in front of the kitchen counter. Schedules can be combined based on time, day of the week, and cleaning mode, so that the Mobius 60, for example, only vacuums during the week and also mops on the weekends. The app also makes maintenance easier. This way, you can always check the maintenance status of the replaceable parts.

For example, you’ll know when it’s time to replace the main brush or refill the cleaning solution. An updated real-time 3D visualization displays the robot’s surroundings as it moves, including a dark mode for nighttime cleaning or darker surfaces. And that’s just a glimpse. Despite the many customization options, you never lose track of what’s going on. The MOVA app is designed to be pleasantly straightforward.

Navigation and Obstacle Detection

For navigation, MOVA relies on the FlexScope system: a retractable DToF LiDAR sensor combined with a front-facing AI camera and a 3D structured light scanner. According to the manufacturer, the AI SmartSight system has been trained to recognize over 240 different types of obstacles, ranging from cables and shoes to animal droppings. An LED fill light aids detection in dark areas. The StepMaster 2.0 system is used when crossing door thresholds.

Extendable robot legs lift the chassis to navigate steps, rails, and U-shaped furniture legs up to a combined height of 80 mm. In practice, a single threshold of approximately 5 cm was safely crossed—an impressive result that puts it on par with the company’s own MOVA Z60 (Review | € 698.00 *).

Navigation works exceptionally well in practice. The Mobius 60 consistently follows controlled parallel paths through the room after first scanning the perimeter. In testing, it also consistently and reliably found its way back to its charging station. My only gripe was that it didn’t dare to go under my couch.

There would have been plenty of space available for it to do so. The obstacle detection performed well during testing. Whether it was a toy corner or chair legs—the Mobius 60 didn’t make a single mistake. The only minor slip-up occurred with a shoelace, which it overlooked and sucked up. To be fair, though, I have to say that it recognized the shoelace during the next two cleaning runs and navigated around it.

Suction Power of the MOVA Mobius 60

With suction power of up to 30,000 Pa, the Mobius 60 ranks among the top performers on the market today. So it’s no surprise that its performance on hard floors is outstanding. An automatically lowering pressure-retaining flap also ensures strong suction on carpet. When the robot detects a carpet, it creates a semi-sealed chamber that concentrates the suction in the brush area.

This promises great cleaning performance on carpets, which the real-world test then confirmed. The Mobius 60 even managed to remove most of the deep-seated dirt from the fibers. A great performance! The TroboWave DuoBrush main brush combines bristles and rubber ribs with an anti-tangle mechanism, complemented by an anti-tangle side brush with eccentric rotation and an Omni-Wheel featuring a stiff-bristle design.

Of course, this really pays off in households with pets. As the owner of two long-haired cats, I can confirm that the main brush does a great job. During my testing period, no cat hair got tangled in it at all. Instead, it reliably ended up in the dust bin. The Mobius 60 struggled a bit only on deep-pile carpets. However, it shares this issue with just about every other robot vacuum.

One highlight is undoubtedly the extendable side brush, which automatically extends when approaching a wall. It ensures that corners and edges aren’t left out. In our test, it reliably picked up dirt particles from the corners. This complements the great suction power and contributes to a truly impressive overall performance.

Mopping Performance of the MOVA Mobius 60

The mopping system is the standout feature of the Mobius 60 and, at the same time, the feature that sets it apart most from the competition. Via the MopSwap hub, the base station automatically selects between three types of mop pads. The red ThermoHold mop absorbs heat during the hot-water wash cycle and releases it while mopping to more easily loosen dried-on stains and grease residue in the kitchen or dining area.

The beige Plush mop, made of ultra-soft, absorbent material, is designed for delicate wood and hardwood floors; it cleans even in the grout lines and leaves virtually no moisture behind. The blue HyperClean mop, made of composite fibers, is the all-around solution for everyday cleaning on tile and hard floors. Through the app, a specific pad type can be permanently assigned to each room; alternatively, the AI selects the pad based on the recognized room zone.

Technically, the two mop pads rotate at up to 260 revolutions per minute with a contact pressure of 12 N. Furthermore, the FlexiPress pad holder can move 2 mm upward and 1 mm downward and tilt the round pad by up to 5 degrees. This ensures even floor contact even on uneven surfaces. Via Mop Extend RoboSwing, the right pad also extends up to 4 cm to the side to mop closer to walls and furniture edges. This ensures edge-to-edge cleaning.

I’m a bit torn about the results, though. While I’m completely impressed by the edge cleaning, I find the overall mopping performance to be only satisfactory to good. In some cases, there was still too much residue left on the floor. This was especially true for stubborn stains. Why is that? Compared to the competition, the Mobius 60 applies noticeably less water to the surface, which leads to below-average results—particularly with heavily dried-on dirt.

However, there are ways to remedy this, at least to some extent. You should use the app to increase the amount of water used during mopping and use the ThermoHold mop for heavily soiled areas. Since it retains heat better, it can achieve slightly better results even with heavy soiling. When moving over carpets, the Mobius 60 can either raise its pads by 10.5 mm or return them directly to the docking station.

The Cleaning Station in Everyday Use

The base station is the true heart of the Mobius 60 concept. After each cleaning cycle, it takes over fully automatically. The robot’s dust bin is emptied into the station’s 3.2-liter dust bag, and the mopping pads are washed with water up to 100 °C using the JetSpray-Dryboard system with its 20 precision nozzles, then dried with hot air and optionally UV-sterilized—according to the manufacturer, this eliminates 99.99% of bacteria.

To prevent the pads from getting mixed up during replacement, they are stored, color-coded, behind the locked front flap; an internal lift mechanism retrieves them for washing and drying and then reinserts them afterward. The fresh water tank holds 5.5 liters, and the waste water tank holds 4 liters—enough for several complete cleaning cycles before they need to be manually refilled or emptied. The dual detergent module allows you to use two different solutions, such as a general-purpose cleaner and a specialized cleaner for wood floors or to combat pet odors; the appropriate solution is automatically dispensed depending on the selected zone.

In a long-term test spanning several days, the pad-changing mechanism remained precise and trouble-free even after hundreds of cycles, with no jamming or error messages. No unpleasant odors developed in either the fresh water or dirty water tanks during this time. The replacement process itself, including cleaning, takes up to three minutes. Accordingly, a complete apartment cleaning, including mop changes, can certainly take some time.

This brings us to the most noticeable drawback of the system: battery consumption. Since the robot has to rotate the pads during the cleaning cycle, the battery level drops noticeably faster with frequent pad changes. Sometimes, changing the mop pads and pre-treating them can already use up 10% of the battery life—and the actual cleaning hasn’t even started yet. In practice, however, this isn’t really a problem. If the robot runs into battery issues while cleaning, it simply resumes its cleaning route from the last spot once the battery is recharged. That said, quite a bit of time can pass before the cleaning is completely finished.

Conclusion on the MOVA Mobius 60

The MOVA Mobius 60 impressively demonstrates the direction in which the high-end robot vacuum market is heading: With the MopSwap hub and three automatically switching mop pad types, it offers a feature that currently only a few competitors—such as the Dreame Matrix10 Ultra—can match. In practice, this system impresses with its reliability—even after numerous swap cycles during testing, the mechanism remained precise and trouble-free. Navigation and obstacle detection perform consistently at a high level; the suction power of up to 30,000 Pa easily handles pet hair and carpet dirt; and even as a cat owner, I had no issues whatsoever with tangled hair in the main brush.

Given the MopSwap system, one would expect the Mobius 60’s mopping performance to be particularly impressive. Yet, it’s precisely here that there are some minor shortcomings. In particular, when dealing with stubborn, dried-on stains, noticeable residue was left behind in some cases during testing. The noticeable battery drain during pad changes and the bulky, fingerprint-prone charging station also slightly detract from the otherwise very well-rounded overall impression. However, for those willing to set aside a little more space and put in a bit more effort to maintain this convenient and innovative robot vacuum, the Mobius 60 is one of the most well-designed vacuuming and mopping robots currently on the market.
