We tested the MOVA Rover X10 for several weeks in a 400 x 200 x 120 cm pool to find out: Does this premium pool robot deliver on its promises? And is the hefty price premium compared to the smaller Diver A10 worth it?

Included in the package, in addition to the robot itself, are the inductive charging station with stand, the AquaSonar buoy with its own charging cable, a second charger for the station, a recovery hook, and standard and fine filters. Compared to the smaller Diver A10, the package contents are noticeably more extensive, which gives an initial impression of the robot’s broader range of functions.
Initial setup is done via the MOVA app: After scanning a QR code on the device, entering the Wi-Fi login credentials, and a quick Bluetooth pairing, the robot is ready to go. A firmware update upon first startup is standard for MOVA devices—the duration can vary from a few seconds to several minutes, depending on update server load. The AquaSonar buoy must be connected separately.
Design & Build Quality
The Rover X10 is no lightweight: Weighing 15.8 kg and with its dimensions, it’s noticeably larger and heavier than most other pool robots on the market—it’s a hefty machine, and that’s a matter of personal preference. That said, the build quality and feel of the materials are top-notch: glossy black combined with matte gray, solid rubber rollers and caterpillar tracks, and a generously sized, unusually shaped debris bin.
The design of the front roller is particularly striking: Unlike many competing models, it can rotate independently of the drive motors. This means that the roller continues to run even when the robot is turning in place or moving forward only slowly—a detail that directly affects cleaning performance along edges (see real-world test).
On the underside are four outlets for the water flow, as well as two propellers at the rear that provide propulsion and downforce. In total, depending on how you count them, the Rover X10 has up to 15 individual motors responsible for propulsion, suction, vertical movement, and brush drive—precise jet-drive motors, high-quality and elegantly crafted.
Practical Test: Cleaning Performance
Floor Cleaning
Floor cleaning is one of the Rover X10’s greatest strengths: leaves, sand, insects, and fine debris are reliably picked up. Thanks to 360° mapping, the robot covers the floor in clear, parallel paths instead of navigating chaotically through the pool—provided the water is clear enough for the camera and LiDAR to accurately map the surroundings. In heavily cloudy water, the navigation system is sensitive, and the movement pattern becomes more irregular. But that shouldn’t be the case in a pool anyway.

Wall Cleaning & Waterline
The Rover X10 also clings reliably to walls—including sloping surfaces—without tipping over. Waterline cleaning is powerful: The chain drive handles the walls with ease; the robot climbs up securely and remains active there instead of slipping back down prematurely. The front roller does the bulk of the work and reaches all the way to the edges, where other robot models typically leave behind residue. Only a few competing models apply slightly more pressure along the waterline.
Surface Cleaning
Here, the Rover X10 demonstrates its skimmer function: side brushes guide leaves and insects from the water’s surface directly to the filter—saving a lot of manual scooping in everyday use. Along with bottom and waterline cleaning, surface cleaning was one of the areas that impressed us the most in the test.
Steps, Corners, and Complex Edges
Here, the Rover X10 still shows some weaknesses depending on the pool’s shape: It doesn’t always reach narrow steps and corners optimally, although the EdgeDrive brush handles edges more actively overall than many competing models, thereby reducing the need for manual follow-up work. The advertised hover function—which is supposed to allow the Rover X10 to move from one level to the next without touching the floor—doesn’t work reliably in every situation in practice.
Mapping & Navigation in Detail
The 360° AquaScan/LiDAR mapping system ensures intelligent, predictive navigation and works very precisely in clear water. In murky water, however, the LiDAR system is sensitive, which can noticeably reduce mapping accuracy. Another issue concerns app control: In full-clean mode, the automatically enabled surface cleaning cannot be disabled separately, which leads to unnecessary additional runtime for pool owners with their own skimmer.
Other performance areas
Battery Life
The manufacturer specifies up to 6 hours of runtime or up to 500 m² of cleaning area per charge. Charging is done wirelessly via the charging station. This comfortably covers any home pool.
App Control & Firmware
The MOVA app is feature-rich: It offers many cleaning modes, custom settings, activity logs, a spot-cleaning function, and full remote control. What’s missing are maintenance notifications for wear parts—the app doesn’t proactively alert you when, for example, a filter or brush is nearing the end of its service life. In addition, the advanced features rely heavily on the app, so standalone offline operation without an app connection is correspondingly limited.
Communication via the AquaSonar Buoy
The floating AquaSonar buoy is a truly unique selling point: It enables a stable app connection and control even underwater and also displays the current water temperature. There are two limitations here: The app connection remains stable only at close range (less than 15 m) from the buoy, and the buoy should be within Wi-Fi range. Additionally, the buoy must be charged separately on a regular basis—something that’s easy to forget in everyday use. A solar panel would have been a nice addition here.
Filter System & Maintenance
The filter basket is large and has an unusual shape, which means it needs to be emptied less often than with many competing models. Included are a standard filter (180 µm) for coarser debris and a fine filter (3 µm) for sand, pollen, and fine particles. The filters are easy to remove, so everything can be conveniently rinsed out with a garden hose.
Removing the Rover X10 from the Pool
Weighing 15.8 kg, the Rover X10 is no easy task to retrieve, even when fully saturated with water. A recovery hook included in the package makes removal easier, but it doesn’t compensate for the weight of the unit itself.
Value for Money
The MSRP of the MOVA Rover X10 is €2,499; the introductory price was €2,099 through April 27, 2026. Around Amazon Prime Day (June 23,–July 7, 2026), discounts of up to €1,200 on the Rover X10 were available—based on experience, the actual daily price for MOVA products fluctuates significantly, so it’s worth checking current price comparison sites before purchasing.
By comparison: The smaller sister model, the MOVA Diver A10, costs only a fraction of that—around 550–700 €—and covers the floor, walls, and waterline—though it lacks surface cleaning, laser mapping, underwater app control, or a charging station. For small pools or occasional use, the Rover X10 is oversized anyway; in these cases, the A10 is the more economical choice. The Rover X10 really shows its strengths, especially in very large or complexly shaped pools.
Even in a broader market comparison with competing models such as the Beatbot Sora 70, the Rover X10 clearly positions itself in the premium segment: its range of features is more extensive than that of most competitors.
