Dreame subsidiary MOVA is currently the talk of the town. The company offers the usual Dreame quality at a significantly lower price. The manufacturer now also has vacuum cleaners in its portfolio. In the MOVA X4 Pro test, we took a look at the latest model, which, with its impressive features, is a direct competitor to the Dreame H15 Pro at first glance and also offers exciting innovative features.

MOVA X4 Pro test: design and workmanship
If you have ever held a Dreame vacuum cleaner in your hands, the MOVA X4 Pro will certainly remind you of models such as the Dreame H15 Pro (Review | € 639.00 *). It is not surprising that the household helpers speak a similar design language. After all, MOVA is a sister company of Dreame.
What I particularly like is MOVA’s excellent build quality, which is on a par with Dreame devices such as the H15 Pro. On the other hand, there are a few small but subtle differences in terms of appearance. On the one hand, MOVA relies on a two-tone housing with a combination of black and silver. Dreame, on the other hand, has given its current flagship a completely black body.
Everyone has to decide for themselves which they like better. Personally, I even think that the MOVA has the edge here, as the slightly oval shape, similar to an Osotek H200 Lite (Review | € 299.99 *), looks a little more futuristic and modern. The Dreame H15 Pro, on the other hand, is still visually reminiscent of older devices such as the Dreame H12 Pro (Review | € 301.72 *).
MOVA X4 Pro test: Cleaning under flat furniture
MOVA does not experiment with the design. A handle with an elegant glossy black surface is located in the upper area. This is where you will find the operating buttons, which enable convenient control of the vacuum cleaner. In addition to an on/off button, there is a button for changing modes and a button for starting the self-cleaning function.
The handle is connected to the main unit via an extension rod. In addition to the display, the fresh and dirty water tanks are also located here. And here you can see a big difference to the Dreame H15 Pro. Both vacuum cleaners can be laid flat on the floor.
To make this possible, Dreame relies on a fresh water tank located above the cleaning unit – very similar to the Tineco Floor One Stretch S6 (Review | € 529.00 *). Unlike the Dreame, Tineco and other vacuum cleaners such as the Roborock Flexi Pro (Review) or Roborock Flexi Lite (€ 249.00 *), the MOVA X4 Pro places the fresh water tank at the back of the cleaning unit.
With a capacity of 760 ml, the fresh water tank is only slightly smaller than that of the Dreame. At 730 ml, the dirty water tank is even significantly larger than that of the sister company’s flagship model. However, the water tanks do have one disadvantage – at least one of the two. In my opinion, it is a bit of a hassle to install or remove the fresh water tank.
This is much smoother with the Dreame. Last but not least, there is the cleaning unit. Here too, MOVA has nothing to hide from Dreame. The company has opted for an almost rimless design, which should ensure a great cleaning pattern on skirting boards. Unfortunately, there is no automatic mopping arm like the Dreame.
MOVA X4 Pro test: ease of use
Like pretty much every other vacuum cleaner, the MOVA X4 Pro also has a display. This may not match the quality of a Tineco Floor One S7 Pro (Review | € 699.00 *), but in my opinion it is perfectly adequate. As with the display of the Dreame H15 Pro, you can see the remaining battery capacity as well as other important parameters such as the current cleaning mode and the results of the dirt sensor.
To control the household helper, use the three buttons on the handle. Use one to switch the vacuum cleaner on, the second to switch between the different modes and the third to start self-cleaning. MOVA has positioned the buttons very intuitively. With a weight of 5.3 kg, the X4 Pro is no lightweight.
In practice, however, this is literally of little consequence. After all, the vacuum cleaner supports you by rotating the mop roller when moving forwards. In contrast to the H15 Pro, there is unfortunately no support when moving backwards. When we talk about ease of use, the flexibility of the vacuum cleaner should of course not be forgotten.
Some time ago, the limited stretchability of mopping household helpers was a sensitive Achilles heel for all manufacturers. It was impossible to clean under flat furniture with vacuum cleaners. Fortunately, some flagship models now rely on a 180-degree angle. This also applies to the MOVA X4 Pro.
Thanks to the movable head joint, you can also clean under sideboards, couches or other flat furniture. The limit here is 12.8 cm. This is the height of the MOVA when it is lying flat on the floor. To facilitate movement on the floor, the manufacturer has placed a practical wheel on the back.
This ensures that you don’t have to scratch the housing of the mop when you move it lying flat on the floor. To prevent a mess with the dirty water tank, MOVA, like Dreame, has placed a practical mark on the tank for horizontal use.
MOVA X4 Pro test: Hot water nozzle at the front
The MOVA X4 Pro offers a total suction power of 20,000 Pascal. Whether the appliance delivers its full power depends not least on the selected cleaning mode. With Smart mode, suction mode, Ultra mode and hot water mode, you have a total of four different modes to choose from.
In Smart mode, the appliance adjusts its power to the level of dirt registered by the dirt sensor. If you want to use full power straight away, select Ultra mode. The pure suction mode is suitable, for example, if you have spilled a glass of liquid and want to vacuum up the puddle.
These three modes are now standard for vacuum cleaners. However, the hot water mode is really exciting. The MOVA has a water nozzle at the front, which it can use to moisten the floor in front of it by pressing the golden trigger on the handle.
This allows stubbornly dirty areas to be cleaned in a targeted manner. The highlight of the whole thing is the fact that hot water at 80°C is used, which in combination with the cleaning agent is of course a real stain killer. This means that the MOVA is ideally equipped even for challenges such as dried-on jam.
MOVA X4 Pro test: Practical test
The MOVA X4 Pro proved to be an excellent vacuum cleaner in everyday use. This was not only due to its ease of use, but also to its excellent cleaning performance. Although this may not quite match that of a Dreame H15 Pro, it is still at a very high level.
Even stubborn stains could be removed from hard floors with the smooth-running household helper. The rimless design of the cleaning roller also enabled comprehensive cleaning in the area of skirting boards. The LED lighting on the front is also cool. It also allows you to see through dark areas such as under furniture.
When testing the MOVA X4 Pro, I once again asked myself why the Dreame H15 Pro doesn’t have LED lighting. After all, it fits perfectly with vacuum cleaners that can be laid flat on the floor. I would also like to highlight the TangleCut design of the main brush.
This ensures that long hair is trimmed and ends up much shorter in the dirt container. This makes it much easier to clean the recovery tank afterwards. In terms of battery life, the MOVA cannot keep up with the Dreame H15 Pro.
While the competition from its sister company lasts up to 60 minutes, the MOVA offers a runtime of up to 45 minutes – in intelligent mode. In my opinion, that’s more than enough. If you opt for the powerful Ultra mode, you will of course have to accept a reduction in runtime. More than half an hour is not possible here.
MOVA X4 Pro test: Station with self-cleaning
A self-cleaning function is now commonplace for vacuum cleaners. After each cleaning session, you place the household helper in the station to release it for cleaning. When I did this for the first time, I was struck by a simple and ingenious design decision by MOVA. With pretty much every vacuum cleaner, you have to lift the appliance and place it in the station. This has two major disadvantages.
Firstly, many models tend to drip when they are lifted, as water is released from the cleaning roller. On the other hand, vacuum cleaners usually weigh around 5 kg, which can be too heavy, especially for physically weak or older people. MOVA certainly had this in mind when it designed the station for the X4 Pro. Here, you don’t have to lift the vacuum cleaner, but simply drive it into the station using the integrated ramp.
Once the vacuum cleaner has taken up its parking space, start the self-cleaning function by pressing the corresponding button. Before doing so, however, you should check again whether you need to empty the dirty water tank or fill the fresh water tank. After all, both are used for cleaning. Like the Dreame H15 Pro, the MOVA X4 Pro uses 100°C hot water and steam to clean the roller. Neither dirt nor bacteria have the slightest chance here.
Once the process is complete, the roller is dried. Hot air at 90°C is used for this. This ensures that the roller is dry again as quickly as possible, which effectively prevents the formation of unpleasant odors. At full 90°C, the roller is completely dry after just 5 minutes. If you prefer to save electricity rather than time, you can also opt for the much quieter, intelligent hair dryer mode. In this case, the procedure takes just under half an hour.
Conclusion
The MOVA X4 Pro impresses in the test with a strong cleaning performance, sophisticated technology and an attractive price-performance ratio. The hot water mode and the innovative station with ramp and hot air drying stand out in particular. The build quality is on a high Dreame level and the LED lighting is a clever extra that other models lack. Although the X4 Pro can’t quite keep up with the Dreame H15 Pro in some areas – such as battery life, smooth handling of the water tanks or readability of the display while standing in the base station – these are justifiable compromises. Anyone looking for a powerful vacuum cleaner with innovative features will find a real alternative to the well-known competition here.
