OLIGHT Marauder Mini 2 test: design and workmanship
The build quality of the Maraudeur Mini 2 is very high. The housing looks robust and there are no sharp edges or defects. The rubber grip around the middle section ensures a secure hold, even with wet or sweaty hands. Only the slightly wobbly bracket for the wrist strap is a little negative. But that’s complaining at a high level.
Apart from that, the 133 x 66 mm housing scores with its excellent workmanship. At 465 g, the weight of the compact flashlight is by no means too high. It fits very well in the hand. The switches have a high-quality feel. Everything can be easily reached with the thumb. You can set the brightness level using the rotary control.
The control has enough resistance to prevent accidental adjustment. The on/off switch is located inside the rotary control. You can switch between the three different light types using a three-stage adjustable pin. In addition to the classic flashlight light, you can also choose a practical side light in “moonlight mode”. This mode not only transforms the flashlight into an outdoor night light.
As the handle is illuminated, the control unit can also be seen in complete darkness. There is also a practical red light mode that illuminates the surroundings without creating too bright a light. The sophisticated switch concept can also be found in the adjustment of the classic flashlight light. Here you can switch between floodlight, spotlight and a mixture of both by sliding the switch up or down.
The display for brightness and battery status also works intuitively: four segments on the left-hand side show the set brightness, while the right-hand segments show the battery charge status. The solution with laser-perforated micro-openings through which LEDs are visible is very stylish – a detail that is not only functional, but also simply looks cool.
OLIGHT Marauder Mini 2 test: light output & lighting result
One of the biggest advances over the previous Mini is the combination of flood and spotlight. While the first generation only offered a choice of floodlight or spotlight, the Mini 2 offers a practical combination mode. This is of course extremely practical, as it allows you to benefit from the advantages of both modes. This means that you can shine into the distance at the same time as illuminating your immediate surroundings.
You have a total of five different light modes to choose from:
Floodlight: Very wide and uniform illumination of the immediate surroundings with up to 10,000 lumens of brightness. The light color is a cool white.
Spotlight: Very long-range, suitable for distances of up to 750 meters.
Combined light (flood + spot): Combines the advantages of the other two modes (spotlight slightly weaker than in pure spotlight mode).
Side light: Practical for using the lamp as a lantern. The control unit is also illuminated.
Red light: Very helpful if you want to have lighting at night without disturbing other people too much.
OLIGHT Marauder Mini 2 test: Battery life & charging
The 7,500 mAh battery delivers solid performance. Thanks to the dual charging options (magnet + USB-C), charging is very flexible. According to Olight, full charging via USB-C takes around 3.5 hours. The runtime on the low settings is particularly impressive: The manufacturer states very long runtimes in Moonlight mode, for example. According to the manufacturer’s website, the maximum runtime here is a whopping 5 months.
One fly in the ointment for some might be that Olight has not opted for an open battery type. Instead, the manufacturer uses its own special 32650 battery. If this should ever be defective, you cannot buy an alternative from another brand. This restricts flexibility and replacement batteries are relatively expensive – a problem that was already criticized with the first generation.

Conclusion
The Olight Marauder Mini 2 is an impressive flashlight that addresses many of the needs of enthusiasts and professionals. It combines a very high light output (up to 10,000 lumens in flood mode), a long range in spotlight mode (up to approx. 750 m), flexible modes (combination of flood + spot, red light, side light) and sophisticated operation.
If you are prepared to spend this much money on a flashlight, the Marauder Mini 2 is an extremely powerful lamp. For outdoor adventures, camping fans, search and rescue tasks or ambitious users who need both floodlight and long-range spotlight, it is a real recommendation. For purely occasional use or as a simple flashlight, however, the device may be oversized.
