QUERSUS is a Polish brand founded in 2016 by Miłosz Leśniak and Andrzej Wnękowicz. It focuses on the production of innovative gaming and office chairs that are designed to stand out from the competition, particularly in terms of construction, quality, ergonomics and durability. QUERSUS is less well known in Germany. In this test, we will take a look at the QUERSUS XEOS to see if the manufacturer’s full-bodied promises are true. With a price of € 349.00 *, the QUERSUS XEOS, which we are testing in the Onyx Black color variant, is the brand’s most affordable chair to date.

QUERSUS XEOS test: packaging and assembly
QUERSUS packs the XEOS gaming chair in a plain, brown cardboard box. Several images of the product and the product name are printed on it in black. The manufacturer does not place any technical information on the box. Inside, all the individual parts were neatly wrapped in cardboard and bubble wrap or separated into different layers. Despite a total weight of 25 kilograms, all components survived transportation to the front door without damage or scratches.
Once you have freed all the individual parts from their protective sheathing and lined them up next to each other, you can start the assembly. QUERSUS prints an overview of all components, the necessary assembly steps, some illustrations for adjusting the armrests and safety instructions on a leaflet made of laminated paper.
Although I have never assembled a gaming chair like this before, the assembly took only 15 to 20 minutes and was very simple. Admittedly, I did not use the supplied Allen key for assembly, but a proper screwdriver. With the tool supplied, the installation would certainly have taken 10 to 15 minutes longer. It was also practical that almost all the necessary screws were pre-assembled in the correct places.
The first step was to attach the second armrest to the seat. Then the backrest and the side cover caps were attached. Next, the base with the rocking mechanism was attached to the underside of the seat and the base was fitted with the castors. The final step was to insert the gas pressure spring into the base and place the prepared seat on top. Assembly complete.
Design and workmanship
QUERSUS only offers the XEOS in simple color variants. The colors of the fabric versions are black, grey and sand and the faux leather version is only available in black. You won’t find any wild patterns, particularly bright color accents or eye-catching logos on this chair. Only the general shape of the chair is reminiscent of a classic gaming chair. Nevertheless, in our opinion, the XEOS is also visually suitable for use in a classic office.
The seat and backrest are almost completely covered with a black-greyish (Onyx Black) fabric, which the manufacturer advertises as “Soft Hydrophobic Fabric” (SHF). The fabric is soft and smooth and feels very pleasant to the touch. It is also said to be water-repellent and non-flammable. A fabric called “Nano Fabric Suede” (NFS) is also used between the front and back as well as on the side of the seat. This fabric is completely black and is an imitation suede, which is also very soft and pleasant to the touch.
QUERSUS places the manufacturer’s logo in the upper section of the backrest on both the front and back. In both cases, it is embroidered with a black thread. As a result, the logo is in no way obtrusive and fits in with the simple look of the XEOS. A neck cushion is also included, which can be attached to the upper part of the backrest using an elastic band.
In terms of general build quality, the QUERSUS definitely has nothing to hide from the competition. The choice of materials in the padding area is excellent and all seams are flawless. There was only a small dent in the upholstery on the upper left side of the backrest. It was not possible to determine whether this was caused by another element in the box or whether this fault occurred when the chair was being upholstered. Not tragic but there are still deductions in the B grade.
The rest of the material selection is solid and corresponds to the target price range. The plastic and rubber elements used do not look cheap and are not badly made. The black base, which, according to the manufacturer, is made from a steel-reinforced composite material, also appears stable and durable. However, the mechanism for unlocking the rocker mechanism is somewhat rickety and very simple. But more on this in the following chapter.
QUERSUS XEOS in a practical test: comfort and features
Of course, a good gaming or office chair should not be without certain (comfort) features. This obviously includes the ability to adjust the seat height. According to the manufacturer, this is between 48 and 60 centimetres. For people under 1.60/1.65 meters tall, this is not low enough without an additional footrest. The seat height is adjusted using a simple lever made of black-painted steel with a plastic handle. The manufacturer has placed this on the right-hand side and printed simple instructions on it.
That alone would not be too bad at first. However, the same lever is also used to unlock the rocker function by simply pulling it outwards. The main problem here is that the lever does not engage when the rocker function is locked or unlocked and is therefore relatively wobbly. If you still try to use the rocker mechanism when it is locked, it rattles and you can really feel the strain on the steel lever. In addition, the rocker mechanism cannot be locked continuously.
The rocking function of the QUERSUS XEOS otherwise works very well, but has a rather high tilt resistance ex works. If required, this can be reduced using a rotary control underneath the seat. The backrest can also be tilted up to an angle of 150 degrees. The lever required for this is also located on the right-hand side of the seat.
3D armrests and quiet castors
If you opt for the QUERSUS XEOS, you will unfortunately have to make do with 3D armrests. They are height-adjustable, can be turned inwards or outwards and moved forwards or backwards. Unfortunately, it is not possible to move the armrest inwards or outwards. They are generally made of black plastic and are rubberized on the top. The rubber also gives way slightly so that the forearms or elbows are relieved of some of the strain.
QUERSUS opted for five plastic castors, but these have a slightly harder rubber coating. As a result, the chair is relatively quiet when moving on different surfaces and rolls very well overall. Whether this will still be the case in several years’ time is of course not something we can assess in this test.
The general sitting comfort can be rated as good to very good. I was able to spend long days in the home office on this chair without my buttocks or thighs hurting. In general, however, you have to be a friend of somewhat harder seats or upholstery. The rocking function ensures that your back keeps moving a little and that you change position regularly.
QUERSUS XEOS test: Conclusion
Now that we have taken a close look at the QERSUS XEOS, let’s move on to the conclusion. We particularly liked the simple, office-ready look and the excellent choice of materials. The XEOS has decent seating comfort and solid comfort functions. The overall package is rounded off by quiet and well-functioning castors and very easy assembly.
The build quality of the QUERSUS XEOS is also very good, with the exception of one small blemish. Despite the lower price range, the manufacturer should place a stronger focus on quality control here. Further compromises have to be made in terms of the functionality of the armrests (3D only) and the feel of the height adjustment lever. This feels very cheap and the locking mechanism for the tilt function is also very simple. In addition, the seat can only be locked in one position when the rocker function is free and cannot be locked in any position.
In terms of price, the QUERSUS XEOS is € 349.00 * in the solid mid-range. There are chairs that are cheaper, but there are also some that cost significantly more. If you’re looking for a particularly simple office chair, but don’t want to do without a touch of a gaming look and can cope with 3D armrests, the rickety lever for height adjustment and the slightly harder upholstery, the QUERSUS XEOS could be something for you. However, there are plenty of alternatives of at least equal value.
