Vacuum cleaner fans take note – Roborock has a new flagship in its portfolio. And it promises a lot. Not only does the smart household helper want to remove even stubborn grease stains from your floor with water heated to over 80°C. There’s also a steam function that uses 180°C steam to fight bacteria. There is also a high level of user convenience thanks to self-cleaning – naturally also with hot water and optionally even with steam. Roborock F25 Ultra test: design and workmanship

At first glance, it’s clear that the Roborock F25 Ultra is a real mopping vacuum cleaner. After all, the expert for smart household helpers relies on tried-and-tested designs for the gadget. You will find the holding bar in the upper area. The three control buttons are located on the ergonomically shaped handle, which you can easily reach with your thumb. The bar ends in the main unit.

There is a display on the top that shows you the most important parameters at a glance, such as the battery status, the current cleaning mode and the results of the dirt sensor. The motor, battery and dirty water tank are also located in the main unit. The latter has a capacity of 750 ml. The fresh water tank offers a whopping 1000 ml and is therefore simply gigantic.

This is particularly noticeable when compared to other Roborock vacuum cleaners such as the Roborock Flexi Pro (Review | € 463.00 *). For comparison: This comes with 450 ml (dirty water) and 730 ml (fresh water). And this is no coincidence. After all, unlike the Flexi Pro, the fresh water tank is not located in the main unit, but has been moved down to the mopping unit.

Battery charging and self-cleaning take place in the charging station

The fresh water tank also has a separate tank for cleaning solution, which is automatically added when mopping. Despite the modified porisiton of the tank, the F25 Ultra can be laid flat on the floor at an angle of 180°, just like the Flexi Pro, in order to reach areas under flat furniture. When the vacuum cleaner is laid down, it measures just 12.5 cm in height. This makes it only slightly higher than some robot hoovers.

Of course, the mopping roller is also located in the cleaning unit. Roborock relies on a rimless design here, which should ensure comprehensive cleaning in areas of furniture edges and skirting boards. Roborock has placed several LEDs on the front of the unit. These conjure up blue light on the floor in front of the vacuum cleaner, which should make dirt visible. The six nozzles through which the F25 Ultra emits the water vapor are also located here.

Roborock F25 Ultra test: Roborock App

The flagship vacuum cleaner from Roborock comes with a practical app. You don’t necessarily need it to use the smart household helper. Nevertheless, you should take a look at it. After all, the software available for iOS and Android devices offers exciting options for further settings. For example, you can make adjustments to the self-cleaning function.

Do you prefer cleaning with hot water or hot steam? Should the roller be dried at lightning speed or a little slower and more energy-efficient? The user has the choice. All four cleaning modes can also be customized. Another exciting feature is the remote control. Here you can drive the vacuum cleaner across the floor like a remote-controlled car using a digital cross on the smartphone display.

According to Roborock, this should make cleaning trips under furniture like your couch possible. But in my opinion, the feature is nothing more than a little gimmick. After all, the wheels spun on the damp floor in remote control mode, which is why the vacuum cleaner can only be steered over the floor with some difficulty. However, this shouldn’t be a negative factor, as you don’t have to use the feature to be able to use the F25 properly.

Roborock F25 Ultra test: Simple operation

The Roborock F25 Ultra is very easy to operate. You can already feel the ease of use when setting it up. All you have to do is insert the guide bar into the main housing, fill the fresh water tank, supply the cleaning station with power via the mains cable and you’re ready to go. The appliance is self-explanatory when it comes to operation. There are three buttons on the handle that you can use to control the cleaning process.

One button starts and stops cleaning. Use the second button to switch between cleaning modes. You can find out which one is currently active via the integrated loudspeaker, but also by looking at the large and clearly visible display. The third button is used when the vacuum cleaner is in the charging station. Here, the self-cleaning function of the mopping roller can be activated at the touch of a button.

Roborock F25 Ultra test: Cleaning agent comes automatically

Roborock also focuses on ease of use when filling the fresh water tank. You can either grab a measuring cup and simply fill the fresh water tank while it remains in the vacuum cleaner. Alternatively, the tank can also be removed and filled at the tap. If you want to use cleaning solution for cleaning, you don’t have to add it to the F25 Ultra every time you fill it with fresh water.

Instead, Roborock uses a separate tank into which you fill the cleaning solution. The vacuum cleaner then automatically adds the solution to the fresh water. Roborock claims that one filling of the cleaning tank should be enough for around 30 days of average cleaning. The dirty water tank also shines in practice.

After all, it separates solids from the rest of the dirty water thanks to a practical sieve. Another impressive feature is the Slide-Tech 2.0 technology. Motorized wheels help you move the vacuum cleaner. This makes it easy to forget that it is anything but lightweight at a hefty 5.6 kg.

According to Roborock, the system is AI-based and automatically recognizes the direction in which the vacuum cleaner is being moved. Especially in combination with the 70° swivel joint, this is definitely noticeable in everyday life, as even longer cleaning sessions with the F25 Ultra are no problem. The light on the front is of course also extremely practical.

In contrast to the Flexi Pro, this is not just white to give you a clear overview in dark areas. Instead, Roborock uses a blue light that shines onto the floor at the optimum angle so that you don’t miss a single speck of dust. But thanks to the smart dirt sensor, you don’t have to search for dirt yourself. Instead, the sensor analyzes the degree of soiling and shows the result in the form of a colour bar on the display.

Roborock F25 Ultra test: Hot water and steam mode

The Roborock F25 Ultra offers a suitable cleaning mode for almost every scenario. It offers a maximum suction power of an impressive 22,000 Pascal. In combination with the downward pressure of a powerful 33 N, even stubborn stains should be reliably removed. You have a total of four modes to choose from.

In the test, I mainly used the auto mode. Here, the vacuum cleaner adjusts its suction power and water flow rate to the current level of dirt detected by the DirTect sensor. And it works really well. I spread a mixture of cereal and milk on my vinyl floor and the Roborock removed it quickly and reliably – after just one pass.

On top of that, there is the so-called sponge mode, which lives up to its name. This is suitable for soaking up spilled liquids. In the test, I spread coffee on my floor and the F25 Ultra soaked it up without leaving any residue. While these two modes are now standard on pretty much every vacuum cleaner, the F25 Ultra offers two other modes that are really special.

In hot water mode, the dried Nutella didn’t stand a chance

On the one hand, there is a hot water mode that reminds me of the Dreame H15 Pro Heat (Review | € 499.00 *). Here, 86°C hot water is used to dissolve even stubborn grease stains. Thanks to the total of 32 water outlets, the cleaning roller is evenly moistened with the hot water. I was delighted with the hot water mode in the test.

Even stubborn dried-on jam and Nutella stains were no problem for it. And as if that wasn’t enough, the F25 Ultra also comes with a steam mode that reminds me of the Tineco Floor One S7 Stretch Steam Plus (Review | € 699.00 *). On the Roborock, the steam is emitted via a total of six nozzles that spray onto the floor at an optimized angle of 48°.

The comb scrapes the dirt off the roller

This also worked excellently in the test. After a short heat-up phase, the Roborock skillfully sprays the steam onto the floor, which is particularly excellent when cleaning tiles in the kitchen and bathroom. However, Roborock emphasizes that the 180°C steam should also be able to work gently on wooden floors. The manufacturer has even had this certified by TÜV Süd.

One major advantage over the competitor from Tineco is clearly the automatic addition of the cleaning solution. While with the competition from Tineco you have to be meticulous to ensure that there is no cleaning solution in the fresh water tank when using the steam mode, the Roborock simply takes care of this itself. Outstanding!

I like the brush design at least as much. The rimless brush allows you to wipe seamlessly along skirting boards. A practical comb ensures that hair and other adhering dirt is combed out of the roller. The only thing I miss is a comparable gripper arm, which made its debut on the Dreame H15 Pro (Review | € 399.00 *). This is particularly noticeable when you roll head-on towards skirting boards.

Roborock F25 Ultra test: Self-cleaning

After each cleaning session, you return the Roborock to its charging station and activate the self-cleaning function at the touch of a button. The F25 Ultra doesn’t do things by halves here either. First, the roller is freed from adhering dirt using either 90°C hot water or 150°C steam. The high temperatures alone mean that bacteria don’t stand a chance. This is followed by drying with hot air.

After self-cleaning, nothing was left on the roller

If you’re in a hurry, you can use 95°C hot air, which will completely dry the roller again after just 5 minutes. Alternatively, you can also select an energy-saving drying mode, which dries the roller completely after 30 minutes. You can switch between the modes in the app. A subsequent look at the roller was more than convincing. The brush was not only excellently cleaned, but was completely dry and as fluffy as new.

Roborock F25 Ultra test: Battery life

Of course, hot water and steam mode are quite energy-intensive. That’s why you shouldn’t expect a breathtaking battery life if you opt for one of the high-temperature modes. In the end, you will get just under half an hour of cleaning time. As the two modes are generally used in individual rooms or certain areas, I think this is more than enough.

The Roborock is significantly more enduring in the other modes. Roborock speaks of a running time of up to 60 minutes. In the test, I achieved a battery life of a good three quarters of an hour. In my opinion, however, this is a very good value. However, in the absence of a quick-charge function, you have to be quite patient when charging the battery. It took just under four hours to fully recharge the battery.

Conclusion

With the Roborock F25 Ultra, Roborock delivers an impressive flagship mop vacuum cleaner that impresses above all with its powerful cleaning performance and well thought-out convenience package. The combination of hot water and powerful steam mode makes light work of even stubborn stains and bacteria – and is TÜV-certified, even on sensitive wooden floors. The generously dimensioned fresh water tank, the automatic addition of detergent and the rimless brush ensure high efficiency in everyday use. A major strength is the almost completely automated self-cleaning function.

Roller washing with hot water and steam as well as quick drying make the F25 Ultra hygienic and ready for use at any time. The app provides useful additional functions, even if not everything – such as the remote control – is really necessary. Points of criticism are the long charging time and the not-so-good edge cleaning when approaching furniture edges or skirting boards head-on. However, these disadvantages are minor in view of the strong overall performance. If you are looking for maximum cleaning performance, a lot of user comfort and powerful features, the Roborock F25 Ultra is currently the best vacuum cleaner on the market.
