SwitchBot K10+ Pro Combo Test: Well-known vacuum robot
With the SwitchBot K10+ Pro Combo, the name says it all. It is a combination of the SwitchBot K10+ Pro (Review | € 399.99 *) and another helper. According to SwitchBot, there are actually three devices in total. In addition to the robot vacuum cleaner itself, the buyer also receives a battery-powered vacuum cleaner that can be used either as a vacuum cleaner with a long suction tube or as a compact handheld vacuum cleaner.
If you are familiar with robot vacuum cleaners, you might recognize this concept. It is very reminiscent of the recently launched Eufy Robot-Vacuum E20 (Test | € 549.00 *). But apart from the concept, the two devices differ significantly from each other. This starts with the color scheme. We received the SwitchBot K10+ Pro Combo in elegant white.
Eufy, on the other hand, opts for black. The circular robot vacuum from SwitchBot is also significantly smaller than the competition from Eufy. The advantages of the small diameter of just 248 mm should be reflected in improved corner cleaning. We will find out later whether the plan works. A small turret housing the LiDAR sensor sits enthroned on the top of the 2.3 kg smart household helper.
There are also two control buttons here: “Start/Pause” and “Home”. A 150 ml dust container is located at the rear. If necessary, this can be removed via the maintenance flap on the top. Away from this, there are sensors on the side that are used to detect obstacles. On the underside, we find the fully rubberized main brush and small side brush.
SwitchBot K10+ Pro Combo test: New suction station
The smart household helper comes with a matching suction station. However, this has very little in common with the conventional SwitchBot K10+ Pro. At least when it comes to the design. Measuring 195 × 220 × 826 mm, the station is significantly taller than the standard model. And this is no coincidence. After all, the base station is not just for the robot hoover.
While the circular robot takes up its parking space at the lower front, the vacuum cleaner and accessories can be placed at the back. The base not only charges the robot vacuum’s battery. The station also charges the vacuum cleaner’s battery. Here, the SwitchBot has the edge over the Eufy E20 in two respects.
Unlike its competitor from Eufy, it not only offers a placement option for the battery-powered vacuum cleaner. What’s more, the devices do not have to share the motor and battery. Instead, the SwitchBot uses two separate motors and batteries in the robot hoover and vacuum cleaner. This allows the robot and vacuum cleaner to be used at the same time. The base of the SwitchBot K10+ Pro Combo not only serves as a parking and charging facility for the little technical helpers.
On top of that, the station vacuums the collected dirt out of the robot hoover after each cleaning tour. Incidentally, the SwitchBot K10+ Pro Combo does not have a cleaning station due to the lack of a sophisticated mopping function. If you are looking for uncompromising performance in this respect, you should take a look at the current flagship Dreame X50 Ultra Complete (Review | € 1,299.00 *).
SwitchBot K10+ Pro Combo Test: Cordless vacuum cleaner
As already mentioned, SwitchBot’s latest household helper is a combination of a robot vacuum cleaner and a cordless vacuum cleaner. To describe it as a mere accessory would be an understatement. After all, SwitchBot has obviously set high standards in the choice of materials and quality of workmanship.
A major technical advantage over Eufy is the fact that not only the robot vacuum can connect to the SwitchBot app. The battery-powered vacuum cleaner can also be connected to the smartphone via Bluetooth and adjusted accordingly. With a weight of just 1.17 kg, the cordless vacuum cleaner is pleasingly lightweight.
There is also a 300 ml dust container in the cordless vacuum cleaner. This dirt container is also emptied by the suction station when the vacuum cleaner is inserted into it. This is reminiscent of cordless vacuum cleaners with a suction station such as a Tineco Pure One Station 5 (Review | € 459.00 *), Tineco Pure One Station (Review | € 799.00 *) or Dreame Z10 Station (Review | € 429.00 *).
Another equipment highlight is the vacuum cleaner’s 2200 mAh battery. This is replaceable, which ensures a long service life. What’s more, its charge status can be read via LEDs. The small control unit has two buttons. One button is used to start and stop the vacuum cleaner. The second button allows you to change the suction level. There is a total of two levels to choose from.
SwitchBot K10+ Pro Combo test: Navigation and obstacle detection
Setting up the SwitchBot household helper is quick and easy. All you have to do is find a suitable place for the station and then screw the holder for the cordless vacuum cleaner to the base. Bear in mind that the cleaning combination is significantly higher than other robot hoovers with a station due to the rather high battery-powered vacuum cleaner. Once you have found a suitable place, all you have to do is connect the K10+ Pro Combo to the power socket using the mains cable. Then download the SwitchBot app and add the vacuum cleaner as a new device.
Once the robot is in your network, it’s time for its maiden voyage. This is where the SwitchBot creates the first map of your four walls. The LiDAR sensor on the top ensures fast and reliable navigation. After mapping, you can view the result in the app. And the results are quite impressive. Of course, flagships such as Roborock Qrevo Master (Review | € 1,299.00 *) or Dreame L10s Ultra Gen 2 (Review | € 479.00 *) are ahead in terms of detail accuracy.
For most people, however, the results of the SwitchBot will be perfectly adequate. During the subsequent cleaning tours of the K10+ Pro Combo, it was then possible to understand the robot’s driving patterns. First, it moves around the edges of the room, then it follows U-shaped paths through the interior. However, the SwitchBot K10+ sometimes operated according to a somewhat questionable concept. Instead of working through room by room, it sometimes cleaned half of one room before moving on to another. Only then was the first room cleaned completely.
The smart household helper only works satisfactorily when it comes to obstacle detection. It was not uncommon for the robot to collide with my furniture. This is where the bumper comes in handy, as it cushions collisions and prevents damage. Unfortunately, the SwitchBot almost always overlooked smaller objects. This is particularly annoying with cables, as these tend to get tangled up in the side brush and inevitably bring the robot to a halt. If you are looking for outstanding obstacle detection, you should take a look at the Narwal Freo Z Ultra (Review, € 949.00 *).
SwitchBot K10+ Pro Combo Test: SwitchBot App
There are no big surprises with the SwitchBot app. As with previous models such as the SwitchBot K10+ (Review | € 199.99 *) and SwitchBot S10 (Review | € 799.99 *), the software of the K10+ Combo also scores with a clear design and sufficient setting options. Here you can feel the manufacturer’s experience in the smart home sector. As already mentioned, not only the robot hoover can be controlled in the app.
It is also possible to make settings for the vacuum cleaner and view the corresponding parameters. If you own a SwitchBot Hub 2 (Review | € 79.99 *) or a Hub mini (€ 34.99 *), you can also integrate the smart household helper into your own Matter system. Support for common voice assistants is also impressive. In addition to Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit and Siri are also possible.
SwitchBot K10+ Pro Combo test: cleaning performance
The mini robot hoover proves to be a good cleaning dwarf in practice. This is not due to the suction power, which at 3,000 Pascal is quite weak. Instead, the K10+ is an extremely maneuverable robot that fits into even the smallest corners and niches. This allows it to clean areas that standard-sized robotic vacuum cleaners cannot even reach. Its size also proves to be a decisive advantage when moving between chair and table legs. However, the compact size of the vacuum cleaner does have one disadvantage.
The Robo takes significantly longer to clean an apartment than larger robot hoovers. However, areas of almost 110 m² can be easily cleaned with one battery charge. While the suction power is perfectly adequate when cleaning hard floors, the Robo quickly reaches its limits when vacuuming carpets. As I mostly have hard floors at home, this doesn’t really bother me. You can choose from a total of four suction levels, which you can set in the app.
Incidentally, the K10+ Pro does not have a real swipe function. Instead, wipes can be attached to the underside. The quality of the wiping function is correspondingly poor, but it’s better than no wiping option at all. However, the whole thing is not really sustainable. After all, the cloths cannot be reused. All in all, the Robo leaves a good overall impression. The cordless vacuum cleaner also leaves a very positive impression. Thanks to the included attachments, you can use it for various scenarios.
Whether classic floor cleaning or vacuuming upholstered furniture, car seats and co. Many areas of application are conceivable here. However, anyone expecting a suction performance like that of a Dreame Z30 (Review | € 449.99 *) could be disappointed here. I would have liked a little more power, especially when vacuuming carpets. For vacuuming upholstery as a handheld vacuum cleaner, however, the performance was perfectly adequate.
Conclusion: Practical combination solution with minor weaknesses
With the SwitchBot K10+ Pro Combo, the manufacturer offers an innovative combination of mini robot vacuum cleaner and cordless vacuum cleaner, which is particularly suitable for smaller households and homes with many angled areas. The vacuum robot scores with its compact size, which enables effective cleaning in hard-to-reach corners. The navigation is solid, if not perfect, and the app integration offers numerous control options – including Matter support. The suction station, which not only charges and empties the robot hoover but also the battery-powered vacuum cleaner, is particularly practical.
The cordless vacuum cleaner itself impresses with its versatility and ease of use, although the suction power on carpets could be somewhat higher. The mopping function is rather rudimentary and is not a serious competitor for fully-fledged mopping robots. Overall, the SwitchBot K10+ Pro Combo is an interesting solution for anyone looking for a space-saving and versatile cleaning system. However, anyone expecting maximum suction power or sophisticated obstacle detection will find better alternatives from the competition.
