Tineco PURE ONE A90S test: design and workmanship
With the Tineco PURE ONE A90S, you get the usual Tineco quality. Although we are in the flagship class here, the manufacturer relies predominantly on plastic. This should not be a problem, as the material used feels very good and the workmanship is also impressive. It doesn’t crack or creak at any point.
The handle including the control unit and the battery are located in the upper area. Below this are the motor and dirt container. The latter can be easily removed, opened and closed. This is followed by the long suction rod, which can be bent. In the lower section is the suction unit with its own smart display, smart brush and practical LED lighting.
The PURE ONE A90S comes with a matching station. Here you can conveniently place the cordless vacuum cleaner and accessories. As the stand has a certain weight of its own, the overall construction is also very stable. Incidentally, the station is really only used to charge the cordless vacuum cleaner. It does not have a suction function like the Tineco PURE ONE Station 5 (Review | € 459.99 *).
Tineco PURE ONE A90S test: Handling and ease of use
When it comes to cleaning the house, it’s not just pure suction power that counts for a good vacuum cleaner. Handling and ease of use must also be right to prevent frustration. After all, vacuuming is probably only a favorite pastime for very few people. In this discipline, the A90S impresses across the board. This starts with the design of the suction pipe.
Tineco has simply installed an articulated joint here. The advantages of this can be felt when you want to vacuum areas under furniture. After all, you don’t have to bend down too much to reach them. However, it does take a little getting used to at first. After all, the vacuum cleaner seems a little less stable when you use the articulated joint and can be maneuvered differently.
With a little practice, however, this feeling disappears and you can chase the A90S over the floor in a targeted manner. I find it a little awkward that the buckling mechanism cannot be activated via the control unit on the handle. Instead, you have to press the button on the suction tube, forcing you to bend down a little. The small LED display on the handle, on the other hand, is really impressive.
It allows you to keep an eye on the most important parameters of the cordless vacuum cleaner at all times. These include not only the battery charge level, but also the current suction mode. In the test, we mainly used the Auto mode. Here, the A90S adapts its suction power to the respective degree of soiling, but also to the floor covering. This means that the suction power on carpets is higher than on hard floors from the outset. The power is also increased if you vacuum along edges, which is also indicated on the display.
A dirt sensor is used to analyze the dirt. We are also familiar with this concept from other Tineco appliances such as the Tineco FLOOR ONE S7 Stretch Steam Plus (Review | € 699.00 *). You can see the results of the dirt sensor not only on the small LED display, but also on the separate display on the suction unit.
In addition to the display, the control unit is also located on the handle. Here you can switch the cordless vacuum cleaner on and off and switch between modes at the touch of a button. The LED strip is located at the other end of the cordless vacuum cleaner. The light system is called LightSense and can make dust particles up to a size of 0.02 mm visible.
This sits directly above the suction unit and shines its striking green light onto the floor at an angle of 150°. This ensures that you don’t miss a single speck of dust, which is particularly useful in dark areas under furniture, but is also helpful in bright areas. Thanks to the practical attachments that Tineco includes in the scope of delivery, the A90S is also equipped for pretty much any terrain.
In addition to the main brush, there is also a practical mini brush that is suitable for the couch, armchair or car seat. There is also a 2-in-1 crevice nozzle, which can be used to clean hard-to-reach corners and sofa crevices.
For delicate surfaces, Tineco includes a special soft brush to prevent scratching. Self-cleaning is also convenient. You can easily remove the dirt chamber and empty it at the touch of a button above the waste garbage can.
Tineco PURE ONE A90S test: Cleaning performance
The technical data of the A90S gives reason to hope for great things in terms of cleaning performance. With 270 air watts, it not only offers a performance that we usually only find in the upper price range of cordless vacuum cleaners. On top of this, Tineco offers a main brush with its 3DSense Master Brush, which turns the A90S into a smart cordless vacuum cleaner.
Finally, the brush offers several sensor and control functions. It not only recognizes the respective degree of soiling. It can also distinguish between different floor types such as hard floor and carpet. With the help of the EdgeSense feature, it can also register when you are moving around walls and corners with the suction unit.
If this is the case, the brush automatically adjusts its movements. On top of this, the suction power and speed are automatically adjusted to the floor type and degree of soiling (at least in auto mode). This ensures efficiency and comfort. Furthermore, the brush is protected against blockages and obstructions with its SmartLift system and the ZeroTangle Brush.
This ultimately saves the user stress, as maintenance is made much easier and makes the A90S a powerful cordless vacuum cleaner – even for pet households. Particularly practical: The main brush combines hard and fine bristles to pick up dust and fine dirt as well as coarser particles. The technical features really pay off in practice.
The A90S works pleasingly efficiently on both hard floors and carpets. If larger dirt particles are encountered, the size of the suction chute can be adjusted at the touch of a button.
