Tineco Pure One Station 5 test: cordless vacuum cleaner with maintenance-free operation

Cordless vacuum cleaners with a separate suction station are currently still a real niche product. However, anyone who has tried out a model like the Dreame Z10 Station (review, € 399.00 *) will realize how useful the extension is. After all, it makes cleaning much more convenient, as you have to dispose of the collected dirt much less often. Furthermore, vacuuming ensures that all pipes and filters are always clear, which guarantees a consistently strong suction power. Tineco has also scored highly in this area with its Pure One Station (review, € 479.00 *), which we called a “game changer” for good reason. But the household helper had one catch – the very high price. In today’s Tineco Pure One Station 5 test, we take a look at the manufacturer’s next cordless vacuum cleaner with suction station. At first glance, it appears to be significantly slimmed down compared to the first model, but it also costs a lot less.

Tineco Pure One Station 5 Test: Cordless vacuum cleaner

Visually, the Pure One Station 5 can hardly hide its family affiliation, unlike Tineco’s first cordless vacuum cleaner with suction station. While the first model came in an atypical purple, the manufacturer has opted for its classic color combination of black and white for the Station 5.

Strictly speaking, the Station 5 looks as if a Tineco A30S (review, € 229.00 *) or A50S Plus (review, € 289.00 *) had been simply extended to include the matching suction station. The design is correspondingly uncomplicated. At its heart is the handpiece, which houses not only the dust container, but also the battery, control unit and handle.

The control unit is similarly rudimentary to the A30S. This means that there are two buttons which are pressed with the thumb. The vacuum cleaner is switched on and off on the left-hand side. On the right-hand side, you can switch between the three different suction modes. Again, there is no display. These are clear differences to the first Pure One Station.

After all, it can not only be switched on and off in classic Dyson style using a trigger with your index finger. It also has a display that visualizes the current battery status and suction mode in addition to the results of the dirt sensor. With the Pure One Station 5, however, the suction mode can only be guessed. The cordless vacuum cleaner always starts in Eco mode.

Click on the button to switch to Auto mode. Another click switches to Max mode. As with the A30S, the results of the dirt sensor can be read from the color of the LED between the two buttons. Blue stands for clean, red for dirty. There is not really a battery indicator.

A small LED on the battery itself indicates whether there is still sufficient battery power. If this lights up green, everything is literally in the green zone. If the LED is red, recharging is necessary. However, the battery in the Pure One Station 5 has one major advantage over its expensive predecessor. It comes in a replaceable design, which makes the cordless vacuum cleaner much more durable and sustainable.

The handpiece ends in the gray suction tube. The main brush, which is almost identical to that of the A50S, is attached to this in the standard design. The Pure One Station 5 also comes with practical LED technology that makes even the smallest dust particles on the floor visible. The anti-tangle brush is also used, which prevents tangled hairs by combing them out.

Tineco Pure One Station 5 Test: Suction station

The suction station is not only designed to remove collected dirt from the Pure One Station 5. The smart household helper is also charged in its base. With its color combination of black and white, the station matches the cordless vacuum cleaner perfectly. It is simply hooked into the base, allowing the vacuum cleaner to be placed anywhere. After all, similar to a Tineco Pure One Air PET+ (review, € 209.00 *) or a Dreame Z30 (review, € 489.99 *), there is no need to look for a wall bracket.

Thanks to the stand design, the location of the station can also be easily changed at any time. While the first-generation Pure One Station still looked like a kind of monolith, the Pure One Station 5 has a much more open look. Everyone has to decide for themselves what they like better. The dust container inside the station holds a total of 2.5 liters, which should provide enough space for a total of 45 days’ worth of collected dirt.

Here, too, Tineco has cut back on the volume. The predecessor still had 3 liters. And this is not the only area where the manufacturer has obviously seen potential for savings. The new station also comes without the display of the Pure One Station. Here, too, there is only an LED and a button. The LED shows the degree of soiling and the button can be used to start the suction process. The upholstery brush and another attachment can be found in the base of the vacuum station.

The fact that the cordless vacuum cleaner with suction station is significantly cheaper than Tineco’s first model is clear to see given the reduced features. However, despite all the differences between the Pure One Station and Pure One Station 5, the two devices have one thing in common. Both score points with their outstanding build quality. There is no cracking or creaking at any point. In practice, you can simply feel that this is a high-quality piece of household technology.

Tineco Pure One Station 5 test: Cleaning performance

In view of the good technical features, I approached the first cleaning session with high expectations. According to Tineco, the Pure One Station 5 offers a suction power of 175 watts. This means that the smart household helper has more than enough power to reliably remove dust, hair and other dirt from both hard floors and carpets.

Even larger dirt particles were no problem for the cordless vacuum cleaner. While some competitors fail here and sometimes throw rice grains, cat litter and larger particles around, the Tineco usually sucked them up straight away. Only in exceptional cases did I have to drive over again. The Dura-Cyclone system certainly pays off here.

The vacuum cleaner skillfully separates air and dirt. Accordingly, the suction power is constantly maintained. However, the cleaning performance is not only impressive with the suction pipe and main brush. The upholstery brush included in the scope of delivery also shone in practice. Whether armchair, couch or car seat.

The practical attachment can be used to clean upholstery effectively. The only question I have is why Tineco has not included a suitable crevice nozzle. The upholstery brush cannot be used to vacuum chip crumbs or other dirt out of sofa crevices. There would definitely have been room for another attachment in the base.

Tineco Pure One Station 5 test: Advantages of the vacuum station

A vacuum cleaner with a suction station should first and foremost provide more convenience. After all, there is no need to empty the dust container of the cordless vacuum cleaner every week. Instead, the dirt ends up in the dirt container of the suction station. It is particularly commendable that, unlike the Dreame Z30, Tineco does not use a dust bag. The bagless design is not only much more ecological, as additional waste is prevented.

On top of that, users do not have to accept any follow-up costs. As a high-quality 6-stage HEPA filter system is used, allergy sufferers do not have to worry about a runny nose or watery eyes. The suction station also ensures that the cordless vacuum cleaner comes out freshly cleaned after every use. After all, it is not just the dust container that is emptied when vacuuming. Important components such as the suction tube and filter system are also thoroughly blown through.

Tineco Pure One Station 5 test: ease of use

It’s not just the suction station that ensures ease of use. Tineco implements other practical little helpers that make house cleaning easier. One of these is the in-house iLoop sensor. This dirt sensor detects the degree of dirt on the floor and visualizes it on the control unit of the cordless vacuum cleaner.

Blue indicates a clean floor and red indicates a dirty floor. If you use the appliance in auto mode, the dirt sensor also provides the appliance with the necessary data to automatically adjust the suction power. The main brush also ensures comfort.

The handle scores points for ergonomics thanks to two possible hand positions

It scores points not only with its practical LED lighting, which makes even the smallest dust particles on the floor clearly visible. Thanks to a wide light angle of 120 degrees, the light cone does not miss a single speck of dust. What’s more, Tineco is once again relying on its Zero Tangle system.

Hair that could get tangled in the brush is combed out and sucked in. Apart from this, the cordless vacuum cleaner is easy to move around the home thanks to its maneuverability. I would only have liked a little more flexibility when cleaning under flat furniture. An articulated suction tube like the A50S would certainly have been an advantage here.

Tineco Pure One Station 5 test: Battery and maintenance

According to the manufacturer, the Pure One Station 5 should last a maximum of 70 minutes. However, this refers to use in Eco mode. Very few people will use this exclusively. Accordingly, you can expect significantly shorter runtimes in the other two modes, Auto and Max. In Auto mode, I was able to move the smart household helper across my floors for just under half an hour.

Given the suction station and the Zero Tangle main brush, you don’t really need to worry about maintaining the cordless vacuum cleaner. After all, the system cleans itself. To ensure this doesn’t fail to happen, the suction station activates the process automatically once the cordless vacuum cleaner has been inserted. However, if you want to help afterwards, you can also activate the suction manually at the touch of a button.

So it is actually only the user’s job to empty the dust container of the base every 45 days or so. And in my opinion, Tineco has not really thought through the emptying process. Unfortunately, you first have to remove the cordless vacuum cleaner from the holder to access the dust container and empty it. This shouldn’t be seen as too negative, but it does detract from the overall positive image in view of the ease of use.

Conclusion

The Tineco Pure One Station 5 impresses as a cordless vacuum cleaner with suction station thanks to its solid cleaning performance and the practical convenience of the suction station. Thanks to its 175 watts of suction power, it masters both hard floors and carpets with ease, without flinging large dirt particles around or leaving them lying around. The Zero Tangle main brush and the iLoop dirt sensor, which automatically adjusts the suction power, contribute to efficient cleaning. Another positive feature is the bagless design of the suction station, which is not only environmentally friendly but also saves on follow-up costs.

However, some comfort features that were available on the previous model, such as a display on the cordless vacuum cleaner and suction station, are missing. However, given its significantly lower price and replaceable battery, the Station 5 has the edge in terms of sustainability and value for money. If you can do without the convenience functions of the Pure One Station, the Tineco Pure One Station 5 is a suitable alternative that is not only cheaper, but also more durable thanks to its replaceable battery.
