The UGREEN iDX6011 Pro comes in a suitably large box, filled with plenty of packing material. In addition to the NAS, the package includes all the necessary accessories (excluding hard drives) so you can get started with setup right away.

The included accessories comprise the standard power cord, two CAT-7 network cables, and the two M.2 SSD heatsinks along with their corresponding thermal pads. Two screwdrivers are also provided: one with a Phillips head and one with a Torx tip. Included is a matching set of screws, as well as two keys for unlocking and locking the hard drive slots. The package is rounded out by the included quick start guide and warranty card.

As soon as you unbox it, it becomes clear that the UGREEN NASync iDX6011 Pro focuses not only on performance but also on a well-thought-out design. Although the enclosure appears quite substantial due to its size, it still has a modern and unobtrusive look. This combination should integrate well into any work environment or home setup—provided there’s enough space.

The front panel features six drive bays and a 3.71-inch LCD display with a convenient touch function on the right side. A dedicated menu allows you to conveniently control the NAS’s basic functions via this display. There’s also a dashboard view that shows relevant data—such as CPU, GPU, and NPU utilization—at a glance. Below that are several status LEDs that clearly indicate the status of the individual LAN ports and the occupied HDD slots 1 through 6. The front of the device is rounded out by an easily accessible power button, a high-speed SD 4.0 card reader, two Thunderbolt 4 ports, and a USB-A port compliant with the 3.2 Gen 2 standard. This ensures that the most important interfaces are always within easy reach.

Looking at the back, we see a selection of high-performance ports. In addition to two 10 Gbit/s LAN ports, there is also an OCuLink port available, which can be used, for example, to connect an external GPU. According to the manufacturer, theoretical transfer rates of up to 64 GT/s are possible, clearly positioning the system at the workstation level. In addition, the I/O panel features an HDMI port that supports video output at resolutions up to 8K. Three additional USB ports are also available for other peripherals, including one high-speed USB 3.2 port and two USB 2.0 ports—for input devices or external storage media, for example.

TheUGREEN NASync iDX6011 Pro makes a high-quality impression with its build quality. The case feels quite sturdy and robust—even under light pressure, there is no creaking or warping. Furthermore, even upon closer inspection, the gaps are clean and uniform across the entire enclosure. The precisely fitted drive trays round out the solid build quality.

The built-in LCD display also impresses with its easy-to-read text and a clear, well-organized display. Overall, the quality is on a level typically found in professional workstations. This is a clear advantage for a home NAS, which is ultimately designed to operate reliably for many years.

The Hardware in Detail

With the NASync iDX6011 Pro, UGREEN is targeting the high-end segment. At the heart of the system is an Intel Core Ultra 7 255H with 16 cores, supported by 64 GB of fast LPDDR5X RAM. Together, this combination provides ample performance headroom for resource-intensive applications such as virtualization, Docker containers, media servers, or UGREEN’s new local AI features.

The CPU’s enormous computing power is particularly impressive. When needed, the Intel Core Ultra 7 255H can reach a turbo clock speed of up to 5.1 GHz. Compared to conventional NAS systems, which typically use power-efficient processors, this provides significantly more processing capacity. Parallel workloads and the integrated AI features benefit in particular from the AI computing power of up to 96 TOPS (tera operations per second). These include the personal AI chatbot “Uliya,” intelligent photo and media analysis, and semantic search. This allows users to search through content much faster without having to rely on external cloud services. However, this high performance comes at a price—under load, the system consumes a considerable amount of power.

For data storage, the UGREEN NASync iDX6011 Pro offers a total of six SATA drive bays designed for use with 3.5-inch or 2.5-inch hard drives. In practice, depending on the capacity of the drives selected, this allows for storage capacities of up to 196 TB. As for the operating system, as is customary with UGREEN, UGOS Pro is used, which runs on a separate 128 GB SSD as the dedicated system drive. This ensures that the system and user data are physically separated, which has a positive effect on both stability and response times during operation.

Real-World Test: Enough Storage Space for a Massive Array of Features?

Enough theoretical talk—now let’s move on to the hands-on test and put the UGREEN NASync iDX6011 Pro through its paces in everyday use. For storage capacity, we’re using a total of four Western Digital HDDs, each with 4 TB of storage. That adds up to 16 TB, though of course not all of that is fully usable depending on the RAID type.

Setup and Configuration

The setup process is very straightforward overall and should be easily manageable even for complete beginners in the NAS field. After inserting the four HDDs into the designated slots 1 through 4—no tools required—connect the Ethernet and power cables, then start the NAS by pressing the power button on the front panel.

Immediately afterward, setup mode begins automatically, during which the UGREEN NASync iDX6011 Pro can be discovered via a QR code on the built-in display. The actual configuration is then conveniently carried out via a web browser. The steps range from assigning an initial name and creating a user profile to linking the device to a UGREEN account.

Next, a storage pool is created from the installed hard drives, and the desired RAID type is selected. This makes the system ready for use in no time.

Currently, the following RAID levels are available in UGOS PRO:

• RAID 0 – Data is distributed across multiple hard drives, which increases access speed but offers no protection against drive failures.
• RAID 1 – All data is mirrored, ensuring full data security in the event of a hard drive failure.
• RAID 5 – Combines speed and reliability, with one hard drive dedicated to error correction.
• RAID 6 – Works like RAID 5 but with double parity, allowing two hard drives to fail simultaneously.
• RAID 10 – Combines the features of RAID 1 and 0, offering fast performance and high reliability through mirroring and data distribution.

Software, Remote Access, and Docker Support

The UGREEN NASync iDX6011 Pro runs on the company’s proprietary UGOS Pro operating system, which has undergone extensive development through recent updates. It now features a modern and intuitive interface, and operation is generally stable and smooth. Compared to Synology DSM, which has long been considered the gold standard, UGREEN now positions itself as a genuine competitor with UGOS Pro—not least in terms of value for money.

When it comes to cross-platform access, UGREEN has established a strong portfolio. Full-featured clients are available for everything from Android and iOS to Windows and macOS. There are also apps for Android TV and Apple TV for streaming media content. Alternatively, direct access is possible via a web browser—including remotely via UGREENlink—with the full range of features.

In everyday use, the UGOS Pro—just like the UGREEN NASync DXP480T Plus (our review)—delivers strong performance and comes with the standard NAS tools pre-installed. Key features naturally include file management, backup solutions, media management, and integrated system monitoring. The range of functions can be expanded via the App Center, where you can download additional tools such as Jellyfin, Online Office, HomeAssistant, or, most recently, even OpenClaw.

A major advantage of the UGREEN NASync iDX6011 Pro is, of course, its support for Docker and virtual machines—a task for which it’s virtually tailor-made thanks to its 64 GB of RAM. This transforms the NAS from a simple storage solution into a compact hub for applications like Ollama, NextCloud, Pi-Hole, or even VS Code Server. For network integration, it supports common protocols such as SMB, NFS, FTP, WebDAV, and Rsync. Basically, connecting to Windows, Linux, or even mixed IT environments is quite straightforward.

On mobile devices, UGOS Pro also makes a really good impression via the smartphone app. The range of features remains just as versatile here, allowing you to comprehensively manage the NAS even while on the go. Recently, since the last software update, the UGREEN NASync iDX6011 Pro’s own AI features have also been integrated. As a result, you can use the Uliya chatbot, semantic search, and even image recognition remotely right from the app.

Local AI Features

The local AI features are likely among the most exciting new additions to this UGREEN NAS. After all, nearly every manufacturer touts AI these days, but UGREEN has deliberately opted for purely local processing. Those who still want to use cloud AI can optionally add an API key for OpenAI’s ChatGPT and switch between the local and cloud models.

The focus here is on the AI assistant Uliya, which, in practice, can do more than just answer simple questions. In particular, the ability to summarize embedded documents, analyze their content, or receive answers to my questions based on the provided files has proven to be extremely useful. Also worth mentioning are the Voice Memos: These allow you to transcribe and summarize audio recordings locally and automatically assign each voice to a speaker. This should be particularly interesting for interviews or meetings.

Last but not least, the local AI really pays off when it comes to photo management. Here, photos can be automatically categorized by people, animals, objects, or situations and easily retrieved using semantic search. Searches like “sunset” or “jellyfish” work quite well, although there are occasional incorrect results. Overall, however, this method is definitely better than the standard search by filename or folder structure.

Of course, in everyday use, it’s clear that the AI platform is being gradually refined. At the start of the testing period, some features were initially missing, but these have since been added via updates. The semantic search now frequently returns relevant results, though it doesn’t yet operate with complete consistency. Furthermore, Uliya does not offer direct access to all files on the NAS; instead, it processes only the documents provided or accesses the configured knowledge databases. More flexibility would certainly be desirable here, as the necessary hardware for data processing is definitely available.

The AI features made a very positive impression in testing, even though not all results are completely error-free. Unlike many competing products, however, the features of the UGREEN NASync iDX6011 Pro are more than just a marketing term. Ultimately, they prove to be useful tools that simplify everyday life while also prioritizing data protection. Looking ahead, I therefore see significant potential in the form of software updates, as UGREEN has undoubtedly created a powerful local AI platform with this product.

Performance, Power Consumption, and Noise Level

As mentioned earlier, UGREEN equips the NASync iDX6011 Pro with an Intel Core Ultra 7 255H from the Arrow Lake-H generation. With 16 cores, 16 threads, 24 MB of cache, and AI computing power of up to 96 TOPS, this provides plenty of power for a NAS. In testing, the system proved consistently responsive and high-performing, even with multiple services running in parallel, container workloads, and AI functions.

The CPU is supported by 64 GB of LPDDR5X RAM, which operates at an impressive 8,400 MT/s. This high memory bandwidth is particularly beneficial for LLMs, which run directly in RAM. It should be noted, however, that the RAM is soldered in place and therefore cannot be expanded later.

While Intel specifies the Core Ultra 7 255H with a base power consumption of 28 watts, it could briefly draw up to 115 watts under heavy load. Given the performance it delivers, it’s therefore no surprise that the NAS’s power consumption is more in line with a compact server than a traditional NAS solution. Power is supplied by a 300-watt power supply from Channel Well Technology, which ensured stable operation during testing even under heavy load.

As expected, the UGREEN NASync iX6011 Pro is not among the most energy-efficient NAS systems. With four hard drives installed, power consumption during testing was around 35 watts when idle or with the HDDs in sleep mode. Generally, power consumption typically hovers between 60 and 90 watts under heavy load, though brief spikes of just over 100 watts were observed.

One sticking point with the UGREEN NASync IDX6011 Pro is the noise level, which can actually be quite noticeable during operation. In total, five fans are used: two 120mm rear fans, a CPU fan, and a power supply fan. While the two large case fans generally operate relatively quietly, the power supply fan is particularly noticeable in an unpleasant way, as it occasionally revs up briefly and then returns to idle mode. Unfortunately, this behavior cannot be mitigated, as the fan control in UGOS Pro applies exclusively to the two 120mm fans. As a result, the background noise level typically ranges between about 35 and 45 dB, depending on the load—though the power supply fan’s recurring speed spikes are particularly noticeable.

Conclusion

The UGREEN NASync iDX6011 Pro already impresses on paper with exceptionally strong performance, which is by no means a given in the NAS segment. Thanks to the high-performance Intel Core Ultra 7 255H, combined with 64 GB of fast RAM and an OCuLink port, the system performs more like a compact workstation than a traditional NAS. Another positive aspect is that, during the testing period, the UGOS Pro was continuously enhanced with new features, resulting in AI functions that steadily improved over time. Of course, we hope that UGREEN will continue to pursue this concept—after all, the hardware under the hood opens up a vast range of applications for it!

In everyday use, the NAS impresses particularly with its high performance, versatile applications, and extensive feature set—which, thanks to Docker and VM support, can be significantly expanded with a bit of technical know-how. Although the AI features seemed limited and rather rudimentary at the start of the review phase, this has changed noticeably since then—for example, they’re now not only accessible via the mobile app but are also significantly more powerful thanks to the integration of Qwen 3.5 35B.

There really isn’t much to criticize about the UGREEN NASync iDX6011 Pro, but like any product, it has its minor drawbacks. Owning it would likely result in a higher electricity bill, since the power consumption—which varies depending on the load—means you’re essentially “buying” a full-fledged server. Added to this is the power supply fan, which occasionally revs up a bit and slightly disrupts the otherwise quiet operating noise level.

It’s also worth noting that the RAM isn’t upgradeable. Potential buyers should therefore consider in advance whether it might make more sense in the long run to opt for the higher-capacity RAM configuration. On the other hand, it’s worth noting that local AI processing can hardly keep up with the speed of cloud services like ChatGPT or Gemini—the NAS simply takes its time to respond. In return, the data being processed remains within your own four walls.

All in all, with the NASync iDX6011 Pro, UGREEN is presenting what is possibly one of the most interesting NAS systems to hit the market in recent times, one that directly opens up new areas of application, such as fully local AI processing. Of course, such a powerful hardware configuration—including the numerous interfaces—comes at a price, which is why the NAS is clearly aimed at enthusiasts, AI professionals, and privacy-conscious users.
