With the CFV235, Cougar presents a show case that is particularly striking due to its innovative floating design. The centrally positioned hardware area appears to be floating, while the power supply bay is completely separated from the rest of the interior. This architectural separation not only ensures a particularly clean look, but also improves the airflow, as warm exhaust air and fresh air supply are clearly separated from each other.
Visually, the case is clearly aimed at users who want to show off their hardware – whether with powerful air coolers, large-format radiators or massive high-end graphics cards. Thanks to its broad compatibility for modern components, the CFV235 remains flexible enough for ambitious gaming builds as well as elegant showcases with RGB accents.

Scope of delivery
The scope of delivery of the Cougar CFV235 is rather small overall and concentrates on the essentials. Cougar includes two separate bags of screws: The first contains the classic motherboard and component screws, while the second bag contains mounting material for fans and other accessories. There is no finer sorting or labeling, which can make installation a little confusing, especially for less experienced users.
In addition, six simple cable ties are included, which provide a basis for cable management, as well as two small foam plates as a reserve for additional support or decoupling of the power supply unit.
Also included are illustrated assembly instructions in English and Chinese. The presentation is clear enough to make the assembly comprehensible, but a German-language version for the EU market would be desirable.
External impression
The Cougar CFV235 has a very clean, minimalist look that deliberately draws attention to the installed components. The characteristic floating design ensures that the main chamber is visually separated from the lower power supply bay, giving the case a modern, almost architectural appearance. Overall, the case has a minimalist design, but at the same time is high-quality and well thought-out.
The design of the CFV235 can be seen particularly well at the front: The rear panel is designed as a continuous element, while the upper main chamber appears to float above the lower power supply bay. This creates the typical floating effect that makes the case a real showcase.
The front glass itself is kept very minimalist – without logos or other graphic elements. The focus is entirely on the clear lines and the elegant, calm appearance.
The left side panel forms the actual visible side of the case and showcases the hardware with plenty of glass surface. The main chamber floats around 2.5 cm above the power supply slot, enhancing the airy overall impression.
The lower area accommodates the power supply bay and I/O panel, which offers the following connections:
- USB 3.2 Type-C
- 2× USB 3.0 Type-A
- 4-pin headset audio connection
- Start button
The glass panel has a black edge on three sides; it remains clear towards the front, creating a homogeneous transition to the front panel. This ensures a particularly high-quality look and makes the interior appear almost frameless.
On the right-hand side, the CFV235 is much more restrained. The surface is continuous and largely unobtrusive, which fits in well with the minimalist overall design.
There is a precisely positioned perforation in the front area, which serves as an air outlet for the side-mounted Unity fan. Functional and unobtrusively integrated.
Despite the unusual floating layout, the rear has a classic design. The cut-out for the power supply unit is located at the bottom, with the seven horizontal PCI panels and the opening for the mainboard I/O shield above it.
A generously perforated surface supports heat exchange and ensures sufficient ventilation options without compromising the design.
The underside of the CFV235 is completely closed and remains visually discreet. The housing draws air for the power supply unit from the top rather than the bottom – consistent with the separate chamber structure with floating design.
Four rubberized feet ensure a secure stand and minimize vibrations. In addition, the slide-in holder of the fixed plate tray is visible from below, even if no drives can be inserted directly from below at this point. The actual access to the drive assembly is still from the interior.
Interior impression
The interior of the main chamber is clearly structured and deliberately avoids unnecessary extras or visual frills. Cougar pursues a no-nonsense, functional layout here, which at the same time offers plenty of space for high-quality components.
Mainboards up to ATX form factor are supported, including the increasingly popular hidden connector layouts, in which power and data cables are connected at the rear. This enables extremely clean builds and clearly benefits the showcase character of the CFV235.
Despite the compact external shape, the main chamber offers considerable cooling capacity: A total of up to nine fans can be installed, while there is space for radiators up to 360 mm in the lid. This makes the CFV235 suitable for both powerful air cooling and extensive water cooling setups.
A rubberized main cable feed-through is located directly next to the pre-assembled fan cluster; although the other feed-throughs are not rubberized, they are largely concealed by hardware or side panels and are hardly noticeable in the final build.
The floating structure is once again advantageous in terms of space:
- CPU coolers up to 175 mm high
- Graphics cards up to 430 mm in length
For long and heavy GPUs, Cougar also supplies a height-adjustable graphics card support, which is already mounted in the interior and can be adjusted to the respective card height.
Three fans are pre-assembled, which build up the basic airflow in a sensible manner ex works:
- 2× Unity 120 ARGB PWM reverse fans (mainboard side)
- 1× 120 mm ARGB PWM rear fan (rear)
The Unity Reverse models ensure that the visible side of the fan blades always faces the glass side, creating a particularly clean, homogeneous image in the showcase. The PWM control covers a wide speed range so that operation can be both quiet and performance-oriented.
The base of the main chamber is fully perforated and allows the installation of up to three additional 120 mm fans. From the outside, the area is protected by a magnetic dust filter that can be quickly removed and cleaned.
The rear or second chamber has a much more traditional design and is reminiscent of the classic case interior, but with significantly more space and structure.
The large power supply slot and the wide HDD tray are located at the bottom. The entire area offers plenty of space to hide excess cables or elegantly route power supply extensions.
The central cable harness runs through the upper section and is accompanied by several strategically placed Velcro cable ties. These predetermined fixed points make cable routing much easier and ensure that the rear area remains organized despite the large number of components.
There is also an additional drive area in the form of an SSD tray for two 2.5-inch drives, which is positioned for easy access.
At the top left is an ARGB and PWM control board that can accommodate up to six fans. It allows the central forwarding of all RGB and PWM signals to the mainboard. Visually, the board is more functional than attractive, but it does its job reliably and significantly reduces cable runs.
Processing
Overall, the workmanship of the Cougar CFV235 leaves a good impression. The color scheme is very consistent and gives the case an elegant, high-quality look. The visible outer surfaces in particular appear cleanly coated and evenly finished, which fits in well with the modern showcase approach.
However, the choice of materials shows that Cougar could have been a little bolder in some areas. Some of the steel parts – especially the lid and the cover of the power supply slot – appear somewhat thinner and less solid than the otherwise elegant overall impression would suggest. Although this does not affect the stability, it does make the case appear somewhat less valuable in direct comparison with higher-priced models.
Nevertheless, the overall workmanship remains good and practical. The edges are cleanly deburred, the fit is accurate and all components fit into a coherent overall picture, both functionally and visually.

Overall, the installation in the Cougar CFV235 was very pleasant and largely uncomplicated. The generously dimensioned interior makes it noticeably easier to insert components such as the mainboard, graphics card and cooling solution, so that even extensive builds can be completed quickly. Laying the cables is also very convenient thanks to the clear structure and the separate lower chamber.
A small note on the sequence: The CPU power supply should ideally be connected before installing a radiator in the lid. The distance between the edge of the housing and the radiator can otherwise be a little tight, which makes plug access much more difficult and leads to unnecessary fiddling.
The situation is similar with the SATA cables. These can be more difficult to reach due to the position of the GPU support. It is therefore advisable to use SATA connectors early on in the assembly process, before the graphics card and support are installed. This saves time and avoids subsequent reworking.
The lower section of the case is very positive: The generous storage space allows excess cables to be stowed away effortlessly. This keeps the visible interior remarkably clean, which is particularly advantageous for show builds or systems with many RGB components.
Practical test
For the practical test, we chose an everyday scenario and measured the temperatures of the CPU and GPU both in idle mode and under real gaming load. A round of Battlefield 6 served as the load, which is a demanding and realistic test field with its high GPU load and fast scene changes.
In idle mode, the system operates in an absolutely uncritical temperature range. The internal airflow of the CFV235 – consisting of the side fresh air intake, the perforated case base and the pre-mounted fans – ensures clean basic ventilation:
- CPU: 44 °C
- GPU: 50 °C
The case also demonstrates solid thermal performance under load. During a round of Battlefield 6, the temperatures rise as expected, but remain clearly within a safe and practical range:
- CPU: 65 °C
- GPU: 76 °C
On a positive note, the GPU receives sufficient fresh air despite the glass-dominated front design. The air is not primarily supplied via the front, but via the side openings, the fans on the mainboard side and the perforated base area. This combination enables a stable airflow without any significant heat build-up.
Overall, the CFV235 has a remarkably good cooling performance for a showcase case and is ideal for performance-oriented gaming builds.
Conclusion
With the CFV235, Cougar delivers a showcase case that is clearly aimed at hardware enthusiasts, modders and aesthetically oriented PC builders. The floating design not only sets visual accents, but also creates a functional separation of the air flows between the power supply and main chambers. The clean look, the consistent color scheme and the generous visible surfaces make the case a real eye-catcher.
In practice, the CFV235 impresses with a pleasantly simple installation, plenty of space for large components and a surprisingly powerful cooling structure. The lateral airflow and the perforated base work together effectively, which is clearly confirmed by the temperatures measured in gaming mode. The solid basic equipment with three pre-assembled fans and a PWM/RGB board also supports a ready-to-use airflow setup.
There are points of criticism in the details: some steel areas appear somewhat thinner than expected and the scope of delivery is comparatively short. Minor assembly details – such as the difficult accessibility for SATA and CPU power connectors in certain setups – are also worth mentioning, but can easily be avoided with a little planning.
The Cougar CFV235 combines modern design, functional structure and distinctive showcase qualities to create a coherent overall package. Especially users who value a clear interior design and an elegant presentation of their hardware will get their money’s worth here. Despite the visual focus, neither airflow nor ease of assembly have to make any significant compromises, making the case an attractive basis for high-performance gaming and design builds.
